Just then, Su Linzhe looked over and understood his sister's lip reading.
Su Linzhe was moved; tears welled up in his eyes. For so many years, no one had understood why he joked with his father. Everyone knew him as just a mischievous child.
At this moment, only his own younger sister truly understood him. She understood his feigned strength over the years, and his deliberate defiance of their father. All so that he would have something to do.
They've finished eating. Suya didn't go upstairs immediately today.
Because she has something to announce today. It's a decision she just made.
Suya originally thought that she didn't need to tell her family about attending the math Olympiad class.
But after what she just did, she seemed to understand that being a family means sharing, telling them your joys and sorrows, and letting them have the opportunity to participate in your life.
This was the first time such a thing had been announced, and Su Ya felt inexplicably uncomfortable. She cleared her throat, though there was no phlegm. It made her feel a little better.
"Dad, brother, there's something I want to discuss with you."
Before she could finish speaking, Su's father interrupted, "Ya Ya, what's wrong? Did someone at your school bully you? Tell Dad, and I'll kill him. How dare he bully my daughter? Does he want to die?"
"no."
"It's related to the school."
"kindness."
Before Su Ya could continue speaking, her older brother Su Linzhe interrupted her again, "Yeah, little sister, what's the good news? Are you short of money? Don't worry, I've got you covered."
"I've signed up for the International Mathematical Olympiad," Su Ya dropped a bombshell.
Finally saying those words made Su Ya feel much more relaxed. This feeling wasn't so bad after all.
Su Linzhe suddenly remembered that her father had mentioned her younger sister's poor grades some time ago, and today was a good opportunity to bring it up as well. Actually, he had already shortlisted the schools abroad, and it was just a matter of deciding which one to choose. He wanted his sister to pick one she liked.
Su Linzhe quickly flipped through the information he had previously compiled about foreign universities.
"And little sister, it doesn't matter if your school isn't good. Next year, I'll send you to a university abroad. As long as we have the money, you can go to whichever university you want. So, don't put any pressure on your studies. Just treat Kyoto No. 1 High School as something fun. Just enjoy yourself. Don't take what others say to heart. When you have time, take a look at these universities that I've carefully selected for you. They're all pretty good."
As he spoke, he reached for his phone to hand to Su Ya, wanting her to see the school he had chosen for her.
Mr. Su couldn't stand it anymore. His son seemed not to have heard what his daughter had just said at all, so he had no choice but to cough.
Interrupt what he was about to say.
Upon hearing the cough, Su Linzhe immediately turned to look at his father. "Dad, are you feeling unwell? Is your throat sore? If you're not feeling well, just say so. Do you have any medicine at home? I'll go get it for you. Wait here."
After saying that, he went to find the medicine.
Su's father was both amused and exasperated. Where did this chatterbox come from? So he stopped him and said in a more serious tone, "Lin Zhe, your sister just said that she participated in the International Mathematical Olympiad."
Su Linzhe still didn't understand. "I know, it's just the math Olympiad, so what?"
Mr. Su glanced at his son, who looked utterly exasperated. He wished he could re-educate him. However, after thinking about it, he realized this was his own son. "To participate in the Mathematical Olympiad, the first prerequisite is that you must have excellent grades in the entire school and even in your class. Only then will you have a chance of being selected."
A single word awakened me from my dream.
Su Linzhe was a little agitated. "No, Dad, didn't you say a while ago that my sister's grades were terrible? And that she only got into Kyoto No. 1 High School through connections? How come she's suddenly participating in the Mathematical Olympiad?"
Upon hearing his son's words, Su's father realized that he had been so focused on his daughter's welcome banquet that he had forgotten to tell his two sons about her current academic achievements.
However, Su's father would never admit that he forgot to tell his sons about this, so he glanced at Su Linzhe and said indifferently, "I forgot to tell you, your sister got a perfect score in math on her monthly exam last month."
Su Yaozhe was so startled that he dropped his phone on the table.
Immediately afterwards
"Also, your sister got full marks in Chinese and math on this month's monthly exam."
Su Linzhe's mouth is so big it can swallow an egg.
Having finally found her voice, she immediately accused, "So Dad, why didn't you tell me any of this?"
Su's father remained calm and unperturbed, showing no sign of apprehension: "I was too busy, I forgot."
Su Linzhe was furious. His father had said he was too busy and forgot, which made him lose face in front of his sister. He was thinking that his sister's grades were not good, so he had helped her find a few universities abroad. He had just stupidly told his sister the schools he had selected and let her choose.
As it turns out, he got full marks in all three subjects. Even he had never gotten a full mark before. If he's not a top student, he could be a complete failure.
However, it was his father who had deceived him, and he couldn't do anything about it, so he could only take the cut fruit that the servant had placed aside and eat it in big mouthfuls.
Su Ya couldn't help but laugh when she saw her older brother like this.
However, she managed to hold it in.
Su Hui, who was sitting to the side acting as a backdrop, had witnessed the whole scene. She was so angry that her face was distorted, but she still had to smile. She hated Su Ya for not only taking away her father in the past, but now even her older brother had been taken away by her.
She tried hard to control her facial expression so that the other three wouldn't notice anything amiss, and then smiled at Su Ya and said, "Little sister congratulates big sister."
Turning to Su's father and Su Linzhe, she said, "Dad, brother, I'm going upstairs to practice the piano. This year, for the school anniversary celebration, my teacher asked me to perform the piano solo."
Su's father replied absentmindedly, "Okay, go ahead."
Meanwhile, the older brother was still struggling with the fruit in front of him, ignoring her.
Then Su Hui gracefully stood up, left the table, and slowly walked to the elevator door.
Stepping out of the elevator and into her room, she was furious and could no longer control her expression. "Su Ya, Su Ya, I hate you!" Now, everyone in the family only had eyes for Su Ya, and she had almost no standing in the family.
This cannot be done; this absolutely cannot be done.
She was going to do something; she was going to change all of this.
So she picked up her phone, found an anonymous number in her contacts, and dialed it.
"I need you to do something for me."
I don't know what the other person said.
She slowly said, "The price is negotiable, don't worry."
Hanging up the phone, Su Hui smiled. This time, she was determined to ruin Su Ya's reputation.
