On the dimly lit path, three girls walked ahead chatting and laughing, followed by a man carrying several large bags.
Zhu Zhou had just returned from his business trip, and he found flower seeds suitable for Su Ning to plant in winter. The car got closer and closer to the group, and stopped right next to them.
Zhu Zhou rolled down the car window. "Su Tian, Sun Man, Wang Meng, is it really you guys?"
They were overjoyed to see that it was Zhu Zhou and the other two; they finally didn't have to walk home anymore.
He Ci didn't notice the man behind them at first, but when he turned around, he met a pair of dark eyes. Zhu Zhou didn't expect it to be He Ci.
Their eyes met, and Zhu Zhou spoke first. "Why are you here?"
He Ci tossed his luggage into the trunk, then opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat. Zhu Zhou laughed at his unceremonious manner.
He had also heard about He Ci's situation. He didn't expect him to be released so quickly after only one year in prison. It seemed that he hadn't forgotten Su Ning, but rather that he had unspeakable suffering.
Zhu Zhou admires He Ci. If they hadn't both liked the same person, they might have become very good friends.
In the countryside, people eat dinner quite late. Su Ning had just put the food on the table when she heard someone knocking on the door.
Li Mei was still serving rice when Su Ning put down the plate and walked towards the door. When she opened the door, she saw Zhu Zhou and greeted him with a smile.
"Zhuzhou, when are you coming back?"
Zhu Zhou smiled and handed her a package. "I just arrived in the village. These are flower seeds I brought back for you from my business trip. They're suitable for planting in winter."
Su Ning took the seeds and then heard Zhu Zhou continue speaking.
"Ning'er! I met someone on the road; he's looking for you."
Zhu Zhou looked at Su Ning, then stepped aside, revealing a tall man standing straight in the doorway.
Even though it was completely dark, Su Ning recognized the person in front of her at a glance, and the flower seeds in her hand fell to the ground.
"Brother Ci."
Su Ning's voice trembled. She hadn't expected it to really be He Ci, and that she would actually see him again.
The two were only a few steps apart when Su Ning quickly threw herself into He Ci's arms. The long-awaited embrace made Su Ning think she was dreaming.
He Ci greedily inhaled the delicate fragrance emanating from Su Ning. Countless midnight dreams had vanished in this moment, all of them turning into longing.
"Little darling, I'm here."
These few words conveyed endless longing. Zhu Zhou didn't want to see this scene, that the girl he loved was telling someone else about her lovesickness. He wasn't a saint.
Zhu Zhou drove away, and the two were only a short distance apart. He Ci was very tall, and he could easily kiss Su Ning's lips if he looked down.
He Ci slowly moved from top to bottom, capturing Su Ning's lips in the darkness. He cupped Su Ning's small face, taking light bites, then releasing and taking light bites again. This action seemed to have happened countless times in his dreams.
Su Ning responded uncontrollably; they were like two thirsty fish, quenching each other's thirst with mutual support.
When Li Mei saw that Su Ning hadn't returned yet, she went over and saw the two of them kissing. She picked up the broom next to her and started hitting He Ci with it.
"You scoundrel, I'll teach you a lesson for bullying my daughter. If I find out who you are, I'll break your legs!"
He Ci didn't dodge, and the broom just kept hitting him, making Su Ning extremely anxious.
"Mom, stop hitting him, he's He Ci."
Li Mei paused when she heard the familiar name, then continued waving the broom.
"I'm going to beat him up today. He ruined my daughter's life so badly, how dare he come here?"
Afraid that the neighbors would laugh at him, Su Qiang quickly snatched the broom from Li Mei's hand and threw it aside, then pulled the group into the yard.
"Can't you talk things out properly? Do you even care about your daughter's reputation?"
Su Ning stood in front of He Ci, "Mom, please stop hitting Ci-ge. Can we go inside and talk about this?"
Su Qiang shared the same idea, and Li Mei snorted coldly.
"Eat first, we'll settle the bill later. Now come in."
Li Mei seemed to be speaking to the father and daughter, but she was actually speaking to He Ci as well. She had a good impression of He Ci at first, but his mother made her angry just thinking about her.
