As the clock struck midnight, the new year arrived, and the village was more lively than ever before, with fireworks illuminating the entire land.
He Ci knelt down on one knee in front of Su Ning, holding a bouquet of roses. He knew that this was a bit unfair to Su Ning, as they couldn't be too conspicuous in the village.
Su Ning was stunned and didn't expect He Ci to propose to her. She stood there for a moment, unable to react.
"My darling, even though I'm a live-in son-in-law, I still want to propose to you. I love your gentleness, your tranquility, and the way you smile."
"I love you as long as it's you. From now on, there's no such thing as a young master, only He Ci. My darling, will you marry me?"
It would be a lie to say I wasn't moved. It took a lot of courage for He Ci to give up his status and become a live-in son-in-law in her family.
Su Ning took the roses from He Ci's hand. "Brother Ci! I love you for who you are. Since you're marrying into my family, shouldn't I be the one proposing?"
He Ci had considered all the possibilities, but he never expected Su Ning to say that. He stood up, and the emotions he had been building up vanished.
"My darling! Since you're so eager to propose to me, let's begin! I'm listening."
The people hiding by the river almost burst out laughing. What was supposed to be a perfect marriage proposal scene was turned into a hilarious one by He Ci.
Su Ning was stunned; she wasn't ready.
“Brother Ci…”
"Alright, little darling, I promise you, I'm willing to become a live-in son-in-law."
Su Ning... her face was full of question marks. That wasn't what she wanted to say. The people by the river were laughing so hard they almost passed out.
Most people are unwilling to become live-in sons-in-law, but this guy is eager to do so.
He Ci didn't care what others thought; as long as he could marry Su Ning, that was all that mattered. This was the happiest time of his life.
"Bang bang bang! Streams of fireworks shot into the sky and slowly bloomed in the air. He Ci had already moved the fireworks he bought here in advance, just for tonight."
The group played with fireworks on the grass by the river, attracting many villagers and children. He was very generous and invited everyone to join in.
Sun Man walked over to the two of them and handed her phone to He Ci.
"It's for you."
He Ci took the phone, and as soon as he spoke, he heard Qi Yan and Lu Zhouxiaolin's voices coming from the other end.
"Aci! You're so unfair! You made us brothers worry for so long."
Su Ning followed Sun Man to a nearby place, knowing that He Ci probably had something to say to them.

Qi Yan started complaining, "Happy my ass! You just packed your bags and left, leaving me to manage the company, and you even kept such a big thing as your release from prison a secret from your brothers."
"Ayan! You've worked hard. Your bonus will be doubled this year."
Qi Yan wanted to smash his phone, but Lu Zhou quickly snatched it away; it was his.
"Do I need your little bonus? I'm just angry that you went out to have fun without your buddies."
He Ci smiled and said, "I'll invite you all to my wedding banquet and take you all out."
The group looked at each other, still not quite understanding what was happening, when He Ci continued speaking.
"I became a live-in son-in-law in Su Ning's family, and we got married very soon."
The four thought they were hallucinating. Qi Yan almost fainted from a breath he couldn't catch. He couldn't have misheard, could he? A live-in son-in-law.
"Aci! You're joking, right? A live-in son-in-law is looked down upon. How could someone of your status possibly offer himself up?"
“I offered myself to them and they still wouldn’t take me. They only came after I shamelessly pestered them. Not everyone wants a rich young master like me.”
Seeing that He Ci was still on the phone, Su Lei knew the fireworks would be over soon if he didn't come over, so he shouted in He Ci's direction.
"Brother-in-law, come and play quickly, it'll be gone in a minute."
"Brother-in-law, this firework is too big, let's set it off together."
He Ci walked over and returned the phone to Sun Man, saying, "I'm here. Wait for me."
