After He Ci left the dance hall, A Rang drove to Su Ning's apartment.
Smelling the smell of alcohol and tobacco on his body, He Ci instructed A Rang to return to his residence first. The car drove into the luxurious manor, and the butler greeted He Ci after he got out of the car.
"Young Master, you're back. Have you eaten?"
He Ci waved his hand and rushed to his room. The butler looked at his anxious back and turned to ask A Rang.
"Have you all eaten? What's wrong with the young master?"
Arang shook his head. He didn't know either. They had agreed to go to Miss Su Ning's place, but they changed their route halfway through.
After He Ci finished washing up and tidying himself up, it was already 9:30. He quickly ran downstairs.
"A-Jang, let's go."
A-Rang was about to get into his car when He-Ci called him back.
"Change cars."
Without asking any further questions after receiving the instructions, A-Rang hurriedly went to the garage to get the car. There were more than a dozen luxury cars parked in He Ci's garage, and A-Rang was afraid that He Ci would wait for him, so he just drove one out.
In the Rose Garden residential complex in Repulse Bay, the food on the table had long since gone cold. Su Ning looked at the wall clock and realized that He Ci probably wouldn't be coming today.
To repay He Ci for saving her life, Su Ning started preparing the meal very early that evening. Just as she was about to clear the table in disappointment, the door was opened from the outside.
Their eyes met, and Su Ning's eyes instantly lit up. "Brother Ci! You're back?"
He walked up to Su Ning and said, "Silly girl, why aren't you resting so late?"
Su Ning smiled faintly, "I made dinner and am waiting for you to eat together."
He Ci looked at the untouched food on the table and felt a pang of sadness.
"If you can't wait for me, you can eat first. If I don't come back tonight, are you going to wait all night?"
Su Ning lowered her head and said softly, "I'm sorry! I don't know how else to repay you besides cooking."
He Ci's heart softened, and he reached out to touch Su Ning's long hair, speaking affectionately.
"Fool, I don't need your gratitude. If you're hungry, we can eat together."
Su Ning nodded and quickly took the food into the kitchen to heat it up. He Ci wanted to help but Su Ning pushed him out. He leaned against the kitchen door and watched Su Ning's busy figure, his heart filled with joy.
Su Ning was a very good cook; the three dishes and soup were just a simple home-cooked meal, but He Ci ate with great satisfaction.
After dinner, He Ci offered to wash the dishes, and Su Ning could not refuse him. Just as Su Ning was picking up her clothes to take a shower, a series of crackling sounds came from the kitchen.
Su Ning put down the clothes she was holding and quickly ran to the kitchen. He Ci saw Su Ning and gave her an awkward smile.
"Um... I'm inexperienced at this since it's my first time doing it, but I'll learn after you let me wash it a few more times."
He Ci hurriedly bent down to pick up the broken pieces on the ground. Before Su Ning could stop him, He Ci's hand was cut, and blood slowly oozed out, staining the smooth tiles.
Su Ning's heart tightened. She ran over, grabbed He Ci's bleeding hand, and put it in her mouth. He Ci felt a tingling sensation all over his body, as if he had been electrocuted. He just stared at Su Ning quietly, his eyes practically drooling.
Su Ning felt a burning gaze fixed on her. She looked up and met He Ci's deep, affectionate eyes. He Ci then took Su Ning's slender, fair hand in his large one.
"Ning'er."
He Ci murmured softly as he slowly approached Su Ning, trying to kiss her cherry lips. As they drew closer, the smell of alcohol mixed with tobacco emanating from He Ci startled Su Ning, and she pushed him away.
"It's too late, get some rest. Goodnight."
After Su Ning finished speaking, she ran back to her room as if fleeing. He Ci pursed his lips and smiled. This was the first time he had taken the initiative to kiss a girl and was rejected.
Su Ning returned to her room and quickly closed the door. She leaned against the door, her mind in turmoil. He Ci wasn't much better off; both of them tossed and turned in bed that night, unable to sleep.
