It was past 2 a.m. when they returned to the county town. Sun Hao arranged a hotel for He Ci, but He Ci refused.
He hadn't seen Su Ning for almost a week, and it only took him about ten minutes to drive back. Tonight's bet wasn't entirely for Sun Hao; he had his own plans as well.
The car was parked at the gate. Not wanting to disturb the others, He Ci got out of the car, walked around to the wall, and jumped over into the yard.
Su Ning was half asleep when she felt someone kissing her. Smelling the familiar scent, she opened her sleepy eyes.
"Honey, when did you get back?"
He Ci kissed her lips. "Did I wake you up? I just got home a little while ago. Did you miss me?"
The bedroom lights were off, so Su Ning's expression couldn't be seen, but He Ci knew without a doubt that she was shy.
He Ci held Su Ning in his arms. He had been very busy this week and was quite tired, so he didn't make any moves tonight.
When Li Mei opened the front door in the morning, she saw a brand-new car parked there. She turned around and looked towards the main room, assuming that He Ci had returned.
When Su Ning came out, she saw her mother chatting with someone at the door. Qin Fengxia next door was jealous when she saw the car at the door.
"Meizi! Your Ning'er is so lucky to have found a man like Xiao He. It's a blessing your family has accumulated over several lifetimes."
Li Mei knew that Qin Fengxia wasn't the only one feeling bitter. Ever since seeing the multi-million dollar dowry from He Ci's family, she wasn't the only one feeling bitter; probably everyone in the village felt bitter.
"Aunt Fengxia, you are wrong. It is my good fortune to marry Ning'er. I am not good enough for her."
Li Mei turned around and saw the young couple standing at the door of the main room. She thought to herself that the young man had some conscience and knew to protect his daughter. Behind their backs, countless people said that their daughter was not good enough for He Ci.
He Ci led Su Ning to the front door, while Qin Fengxia looked at He Ci with a fawning expression, hoping to get some benefit from his presence.
"Little He, you must have just woken up! Look at your auntie's mouth, she can't even speak properly. You and Ning'er are a perfect match, a match made in heaven."
He Ci liked to hear these words; who doesn't like nice words? He Ci came back this time to recruit people. His factory is about to start operating and he still needs a lot of workers.
"Auntie, are your sons Liang and Bin still unemployed?"
Qin Fengxia's eyes lit up. He Ci must have something to say by asking this. If she could follow He Ci, she would definitely get a lot of benefits in the future.
"Yes, yes, those two brats, one of them is so bookish he's gone crazy, and the other likes to mess around. They still haven't found a proper job."
He Ci knew about the two brothers. The eldest was 25 years old and had even been admitted to university, but he missed it due to a serious illness. The second brother was the same age as Su Ning and had always liked to take things apart and assemble since he was a child, for which he had been beaten a lot.
He Ci's new factory needs manpower, and he has long had his eye on these two brothers. He Ci is more cunning than Zhen Kong. He wants to win over these two brothers and make Qin Fengxia grateful to tears, so that her son will work hard for him.
“Auntie, I opened an electronics factory in the suburbs and I’m hiring now. You and my mom are such good friends, so you’re thinking of giving priority to your own people when there’s something good to be had.”
Qin Fengxia was overjoyed. "Xiao He, your aunt was right about you. If the factory needs people, you can send my two boys. They can do anything."
Su Ning and Li Mei looked at He Ci, wondering when he started the electronics factory and why their family didn't know.
Su Ning thought about how He Ci had been leaving early and returning late every day since the beginning of the year, and how she had hardly seen him this past week, and she instantly understood.
Only Su Ning knew how outstanding He Ci was; he owned a listed company in Hong Kong, a fact He Ci had never hidden from her.
As long as He Ci doesn't get involved in organized crime, Su Ning will support him in whatever he does. This isn't Hong Kong, and there aren't any street brawls. She just wants to live a peaceful and ordinary life with He Ci.
