He Ci returned to the prison that night. Gao Yaoguang was relieved to know that He Ci had returned as promised. He knew that if He Ci hadn't returned, he and his superiors would have been removed from their posts.
The next morning, there was an extra person in the prison. When everyone saw that He Ci had returned, all the familiar fellow inmates surrounded him and asked him all sorts of questions.
"Brother Ci, when did you get back?"
"Brother Ci, how have you been doing in the other prison these past six months?"
“Brother Ci…”
A series of questions gave He Ci a headache. A few people not far away were unaware of the situation; He Ci had already left when they came in.
The prison bully hated He Ci. He had finally managed to turn the tables, but He Ci was about to crush him again.
He Ci walked through the crowd to the prison bully. "Aren't you happy to see me?"
The prison bully's face darkened. "Brother Ci, when did you get back?"
He Ci still admired this prison bully, whose name was Zhuang Xiong. When He Ci arrived, Zhuang Xiong was the boss here. He was quite good at fighting and was loyal to his brothers.
Unfortunately, he was willing to go to great lengths for his brother, but his brother cheated on him with his wife at home. The reason Zhuang Xiong went to jail was because his good brother cheated on him with his wife at home. In a fit of rage, Zhuang Xiong almost killed the adulterous couple.
"Why do you look so unhappy when you see me? Are you not welcoming me?"
Zhuang Xiong stared at He Ci as if he'd seen a ghost. Had this guy taken the wrong medicine? In just six months, he seemed to have completely changed.
I remember when He Ci first came in, he was full of hostility, and the frost on his face every day could freeze a person to death.
The man in front of me had a grinning face, and no one would guess that he was the same person who almost beat me to death a year ago.
"Brother Ci, you're joking. You're the boss here. If you went out, why did you come back in?"
Whether He Ci had been transferred to another prison or released in the past six months was something only He Ci knew. Zhuang Xiong hadn't told anyone either, but He Ci understood what he meant.
"Your sentence isn't over until tomorrow. After I leave, you'll still be the boss here. If you ever get out and have nowhere to go, you can come find me."
When everyone heard that He Ci was going to be released from prison tomorrow, their excitement vanished, and nobody wanted to stay in this godforsaken place.
At the police station, Bai Yi sat opposite Gao Yaoguang, listening to him give him some instructions. He knew that He Ci's release from prison tomorrow would definitely cause a sensation, so he asked Bai Yi to keep watch at the entrance to prevent any accidents.
“He Ci is now the new leader of the gang. Some people may not want him to be released from prison. We are in the same boat as that kid. If the gang falls into the hands of others, we will be in a very passive position when we go on missions in the future.”
Bai Yi also understood He Ci's current status. Now the He family was the only powerful family, and the gangsters wanted to rebel but were also afraid of the He family's power.
"Gao Sir, I will protect He Ci's safety tomorrow. We are brothers, and I am more worried about him than anyone else."
The next morning, the prison gates slowly opened, and He Ci walked out carrying his luggage. Bai Yi knew from this that he was out of the picture!
Qi Yan, Lu Zhou, and Xiao Lin were hiding in a car not far away. It had been almost half a year since they last met. They had planned to pick him up from prison today, but it seemed that the brothers were unnecessary.
At the prison gate, there were luxury cars stretching as far as the eye could see, and hundreds of men in black standing there in neat rows. Qi Yan was envious of them all; no wonder they all wanted to be gang leaders.
"Welcome home, Young Master He."
The deafening sound echoed into the prison, and everyone who had just said goodbye to He Ci heard it. Zhuang Xiong stared at the doorway, lost in thought.
A-Rang stepped forward and took He Ci's luggage. "Young Master He, everyone is waiting for you. Shall we go back?"
He Ci nodded, and the two of them went to a stretched Lincoln. Ali opened the car door, and the three of them got in together.
On the way back, A-Rang briefly explained the affairs of the gang over the past year. A-Rang and A-Li were He Ci's right-hand men, one a scholar and the other a warrior. With them around, He Ci could rest assured even without personally overseeing things.
