On his first day at work, the police station wasn't very busy. Bai Yi was nominally the director, but he didn't have any real power yet.
Perhaps Olsen doesn't fully trust him yet; he's just a figurehead.
Ms. Ma, Bai Weiwei, and Ou Lin were all very happy to see Bai Yi return, and they specially waited at home to help celebrate.
Ou Lin ran over to take Bai Yi's arm, her smile innocent and carefree.
"Bai Bai, you're back! How was your first day at work? Are you settling in?"
Bai Yi calmly withdrew his arm. "Ou Lin, if you keep coming here, it will ruin your reputation if others see you."
Oulin didn't care. "Bai Bai, will you marry me?"
Bai Yi didn't reply to her and went straight to the restaurant to sit down. Ou Lin was a little disappointed, but she still went over and stuck to Bai Yi's side.
Ms. Ma glared at her son. He was such a blockhead, so clueless. Even though Ou Lin, a young woman, had said that, he still wouldn't take the opportunity to back down.
Bai Weiwei knew that her older brother didn't like Ou Lin. After spending two months together, even a stone would have warmed up. She didn't know why her older brother's heart was harder than stone.
"Big brother, Linlin is a girl, be nicer to her, don't always have such a stern face."
Ou Lin smiled and helped Bai Yi out of the predicament, saying, "Love is a two-way street. I believe that one day I will be able to warm his heart."
After the meal, Oulin wanted to go out for a walk to digest her food. Ms. Ma pushed Bai Yi out to act as her protector. Oulin's intentions were so obvious, how could Bai Yi not know?
As soon as they left the villa, Oulin took Bai Yi's hand. This time, Bai Yi didn't refuse. He thought, "Let her hold my hand. Otherwise, I'll make her cry and then have to comfort her."
Oulin was very happy. She felt this was a good start. Nobody likes to be pathetic. When someone likes you, you're a treasure; when they don't, you're nothing.
Ou Lin fell in love with Bai Yi at first sight. The customs abroad are very open, and she didn't care about other people's opinions. If she liked someone, she would pursue them.
The dim streetlights cast long shadows of the two of them. Oulin wished that this road would never end, and that the two of them could keep walking like this forever.
Suddenly, a van drove up from not far away and crashed into the two of them. Bai Yi reacted quickly and grabbed Ou Lin, rolling into the bushes on the side.
The van stopped, and seven or eight burly men got out, each carrying a stick. Bai Yi reacted quickly, and Ou Lin only saw a blur before she was gone.
When she got up, she saw several people beating Bai Yi up not far away. Those people all had weapons, and Bai Yi was struggling to fight back with his bare hands.
When Oulin saw Bai Yi get hit in the abdomen, she was so frightened that tears welled up in her eyes.
"Stop hitting me, please stop hitting me, or I'll call the police."
Bai Yi was afraid that these people would hurt Ou Lin, so he wanted her to leave quickly, as he couldn't spare the time to protect her.
"Oulin, hurry up and go."
Another blow landed on Bai Yi's shoulder, and Ou Lin's heart ached as tears streamed down her face.
In a panic, she pulled out her phone to call the police. Some people in the crowd surrounding Bai Yi heard Ou Lin call the police and headed in her direction.
Oulin was so frightened that she dropped her phone on the ground. "Bai Bai, save me!"
Bai Yi quickly broke through the encirclement and came to Ou Lin's side, protecting her behind him. Bai Yi had bruises on his face and had been hit several times.
The other side wasn't much better off. No fight is without injuries, and these guys were clearly trained fighters.
"Bai Sir, you're really something now! Climbing up over the corpses of your brothers, I wonder if you feel any remorse for being a division chief."
Bai Yi had long known that someone would retaliate, but he didn't expect this day to come so soon; he had no chance to turn back.
