Chapter 235 Zhu Xia Wakes Up

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, He Ci was awakened by a series of urgent knocks on the door, and Su Ning also frowned.

"What's wrong with my husband?"

He Ci was unaware that the person at the door was still knocking incessantly. He Ci removed the arm from her waist, then got up and opened the door.

The butler excitedly reported to He Ci, "Sir, sir, the old lady has woken up."

He Ci disappeared in a flash after hearing this. Su Ning also heard the housekeeper's words and quickly got up and dressed.

Perhaps because she had just woken up, Zhu Xia's thoughts were still a little jolted back to normal. When He Ci saw the person on the bed, his eyes reddened slightly.

"Mom, you're awake?"

Looking at her handsome son, Zhu Xia noticed that he had lost his former carefree attitude and gained a more mature demeanor.

"Mom is fine, I'm sorry to have worried you. Where's Ning'er?"

As Su Ning reached the door, she heard Zhu Xia mentioning her. She quickly went to the bedside and took Zhu Xia's hand.

"Mom, that's great, you're finally awake."

As Su Ning spoke, large tears streamed down her face. Zhu Xia didn't know how long she had slept; her son and daughter-in-law had changed.

"Silly child, why are you crying! Mom's fine, where's Dad?"

Su Ning paused, and she and He Ci exchanged a glance. Neither of them spoke. Zhu Xia knew that He Zhan was probably gone.

The situation was so critical that when she hid Su Ning and went downstairs, He Zhan had already been shot in the chest. Zhu Xia closed her eyes and tears slid down her cheeks.

"You can all leave now! I'm a little tired."

Su Ning tucked the blanket around Zhu Xia and then whispered some instructions in her ear.

"Mom, you should rest well. If anything happens, have Auntie let us know."

After leaving Zhu Xia's room, He Ci helped Su Ning wipe away her tears. He knew his wife had two unresolved issues: one was the loss of her child, and the other was her mother.

"Alright, you won't look pretty if you keep crying. It's good that Mom is awake. Be happy this Chinese New Year."

Su Ning hugged He Ci's waist and nestled in his arms. "I'm so happy. It's been three years. It must be God's blessing that Mom woke up today."

Su Ning thought of He Zhan. It seemed that her mother-in-law should know that her father-in-law was gone, as well as her stillborn child.

She didn't know when she would get pregnant. It had been almost three months since He Ci came back, and there was still no sign of her belly.

"Honey, Mom's awake. We'll have a baby eventually, so don't put too much pressure on yourself."

He Ci knew that Su Ning had thought of the child again. That day was a disaster for their whole family, almost leading to their destruction and death, but thankfully they survived.

On the second day of the Lunar New Year, everyone went to visit relatives and exchange New Year greetings. He Ci originally wanted to take Su Ning back to the village for the New Year, but Bai Yi's wedding was on the sixth day, and they were afraid they wouldn't be able to make it back in time.

The wedding invitations were received before the New Year. Qi Yan and the others didn't want to go, feeling that Bai Yi had changed. Su Ning always believed that Bai Yi had his reasons, but she didn't know what he and He Ci were plotting!

Soon it was the sixth day of the lunar new year. Qi Yan, Lu Zhou, and Xiao Lin were the best men for the day. The wedding was to be held in a church.

He Ci and Su Ning arrived rather late. Bai Yi looked very handsome today, but his face remained expressionless as always, showing no sign of the joy of getting married.

The seats were all arranged in advance. He Ci and Su Ning were seated in the front row, with an aisle between them. On the other side of the aisle sat Ou Sen and Yu Min.

Su Ning didn't know Yu Min; she had only seen her on TV and didn't know what her relationship with Ou Sen was.

Just because Su Ning doesn't know them doesn't mean He Ci doesn't. He Ci noticed Yu Min when he arrived; she's Yu Ping's third sister, so they're practically old acquaintances.

Yu Min greeted him with a smile, "Aci, long time no see!"

He Ci didn't expect Yu Min to be so calm; he even greeted people like he did when he was a child.

"Third sister, when did you get back?"

Yu Min has a beautiful smile. "I just arrived yesterday. This must be Miss Su Ning! I've heard of you."

"Miss Su is so lucky, unlike my unfortunate sister, who still remembers her now."

Su Ning felt that Yu Min's words had a hidden meaning; she wasn't as easy to get along with as she appeared on the surface, and she didn't even know who Yu Min's sister was.

Olsen hadn't officially broken ties with He Ci yet; on the surface, the two were still like brothers. When he saw that Su Ning didn't recognize Yu Min, he introduced her with a smile.

"Sister-in-law, this is Yu Min, my girlfriend, and also the third sister of Yu Ping, Aci's ex-wife."

Upon hearing the words "ex-wife," Su Ning's expression turned grim. Although He Ci had explained it to her, it was still the truth, and now that she was buried in the He family cemetery, Su Ning felt that Ou Sen was deliberately trying to annoy her.
