Chapter 259 New Residence

In the middle of the night, a figure secretly climbed over the wall and entered the courtyard. The moonlight was bright tonight, illuminating the courtyard.

He Ci walked to the door of the main room and quietly pushed it open. Luckily, it was ajar. He had climbed over the wall before, so he guessed that his mother-in-law had left it for him on purpose.

Upon reaching the third floor, He Ci tiptoed towards the bed, but just then the lights in the room came on, and He Ci quickly turned his back.

"Where did you go? Turn around."

Feeling guilty, He Ci said, "Wife, you're still awake. I'll go wash up first."

He Ci tried to run, but Su Ning's voice came from behind him. "Stop, turn around, do you hear me?"

He Ci had no choice but to turn around obediently. Su Ning saw the bruises on his face and then beckoned with her finger.

He Ci obediently walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, wanting to explain! Su Ning would definitely be angry if he lied.

"Wife, I..."

Before He Ci could finish speaking, Su Ning spoke up with heartache.

Does it hurt?

"Don't come back so late in the future. It's too dark and the roads in the village are difficult to walk on."

He Ci… “Wife, I’m tough, this little bump and bruise won’t hurt me. It’s just why aren’t you asleep yet?”

Su Ning could tell at a glance that He Ci's face was injured because he had been beaten. The reason she didn't point it out was that she didn't want He Ci to feel restricted.

Men all have their own careers, and Su Ning didn't want to clip his wings. She had seen He Ci's abilities and felt that his business empire shouldn't be limited to Hong Kong.

After a night, the injuries on He Ci's face became more noticeable. During dinner, Li Mei asked He Ci what happened to his face, and Su Ning helped him out of the awkward situation.

He Ci was very grateful. Anyone with eyes could see that the injuries on his face were from being beaten up. The couple knew this, but neither of them brought it up.

After breakfast, He Jin brought Zhu Xia over. Zhu Xia had stayed at the Zhu family's house all day yesterday and hadn't returned. Today, He Jin said that the house in the city had been prepared and was ready for move-in.

Li Mei panicked upon hearing this, "Girl, are you going to live in the city?"

Su Ning wasn't sure either. She had only heard He Ci mention it briefly, but she hadn't paid much attention. If she went to the city, she would have to separate from Li Mei.

He Jin smiled and said, "Auntie, I bought a villa for Mom and the others in the city. It was just finished yesterday, and we're going over there together today."

Su Ning didn't want to go either; staying at home wasn't as comfortable as outside. She looked at He Ci, wanting to ask for his opinion.

"Honey, I'll stay with you wherever you want to live. If you don't want to go to the city, we can stay here."

Su Ning felt that He Ci was passing the buck to her again. If she said she would go, Li Mei would definitely be sad. If she said she wouldn't go to her mother-in-law's place, it seemed like she really wanted to go.

Li Mei didn't want to put her daughter in a difficult position, so she said, "Mom will go and help you pack. If you've had enough of staying in the city, then come home."

Su Ning wanted to cry. Over the years, she had married far away and had not been able to properly take care of her parents. If she continued to live at home, it might be inconvenient for He Ci to do what he wanted to do.

Su Ning hugged Li Mei, "Mom, why don't you and Dad go to the city together, and we'll buy another villa so we won't have to be apart anymore."

Li Mei wiped away Su Ning's tears, "Silly girl, you can't act like this just because you have money. Our little villa is quite nice, your dad and I like it very much."

"Besides, there are still hundreds of acres of flowers in the field that need to be taken care of. If we all go to the city, won't our home be abandoned?"

Zhu Xia felt a little guilty. Her own daughter was her daughter, and other people's daughters were also loved and raised by their parents. It was their fault for not being more considerate.

He Jin knew that what she did was not right, but she didn't think too much about it at the time. She just thought that when her mother and younger brother came, they could stay across from their house so that it would be convenient for them to visit each other.

"Ning'er, I'm sorry. It was my oversight. I was only thinking about being with my family and forgot that you came back to rest and recuperate during your pregnancy."

Since they've already said all that, what could Li Mei say? Saying more would only make things difficult for her daughter. Anyway, the county town isn't far from home, so she could go see her child whenever she missed her.
