Chapter 28 Encountering Danger

The night was so quiet in the early hours that it was suffocating, with four or five cars speeding along the road.

Apart from the car headlights, nothing could be seen outside, so He Ci sat in the car with his eyes closed, pretending to doze off.

With only half an hour left before entering the port city, Ali, sitting in the front row, was tense. He was He Ci's driver and bodyguard, and the two had a relationship closer than brothers.

The screeching sound of brakes caused Ali, who was in the front seat, to lean forward.

He turned to look at He Ci in the back row, only to see that he was still in the same position as when he got into the car, his eyes still closed.

Ali and the driver quickly got out of the car and drew their machetes. There were at least forty or fifty people on the other side, while their side only had a dozen or so.

Ali looked at the leader opposite him and asked, "May I ask which mountain you are worshipping, and whether you are seeking wealth or to save your life?"

A bald man with a thick gold chain around his neck walked out from the opposite direction. He reached out and touched his shiny head arrogantly.

"Haibang, buy He Ci's life."

Ali's voice was deep and resonant, showing no fear whatsoever.

"Don't you know that Haibang has now submitted to us? Do you know the consequences of what you've done today?"

The bald man laughed loudly, "Bah! He Ci killed my elder brother, today we'll make him leave his life behind."

Ali knew that in such a large gang, very few people truly wanted to join, and he couldn't escape the fight tonight.

The bald man, ignoring He Ci, glanced at the dozen or so people opposite him and became even more arrogant.

"He Ci, you son of a bitch, get out here and stop hiding in the car like a coward."

The bald man's henchmen laughed loudly, as if He Ci had already been chopped into mincemeat.

No matter how much noise was going on outside, He Ci remained seated in the car without moving an inch; anyone who didn't know better would have thought he was asleep.

After a long while, chaos erupted outside, and the shouts and cries of fighting sounded even more eerie in the pitch-black night. Several times, people tried to approach the car where He Ci was, but Ali stopped them each time.

After an unknown amount of time, more than half of He Ci's men were killed or wounded. Although the opposing side had more people, they were not in much better shape, and soon their car was surrounded.

His men helped each other back to the car, and Ali had several knife wounds on his body.

He Ci, who was in the car, suddenly opened his eyes, his deep gaze like that of a wolf in the night.

He took out nunchucks from the car and got out unhurriedly. When Ali saw this, he rushed forward to block him.

"Young master, please go inside first. I'll stay here."

He Ci patted his shoulder and asked the injured men with concern.

"Brothers, can we hold on?"

One of the henchmen was still bleeding profusely from his abdomen. He was pale and spoke weakly.

"Young Master He, we're alright. Even if we're still breathing, we'll protect you."

Only they know how good He Ci is to his people. Now that life and death are at stake, it is time for them to repay He Ci.

He Ci smiled with relief, "Rest well, leave the rest to me."

The bald man was terrified when He Ci came out, but he still forced himself to speak.

"Arrogant! He Ci, today is your death day, and next year this day will be your death anniversary."

He Ci reached into his pocket, and the group of people opposite him assumed he was about to pull out a gun and became extremely wary.

He Ci grinned mischievously, "Excuse me, I'll have a smoke."

After saying that, he took out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and put it in his mouth. He Ci took a deep drag and exhaled a series of beautiful smoke rings.

"I don't want to kill anyone. You can still leave now."

They had heard of He Ci before, but this was the first time they had met him. Even if He Ci was incredibly powerful, he couldn't possibly take on twenty or thirty people at once.

The bald man, unafraid of death, provoked, "Everyone says that the Hong Kong gangster prince is a demon, but after seeing him today, he's nothing special. A demon, my foot! I think he's more like a coward."
