Chapter 38 Reporting to the Police

The next morning, Su Ning woke up to find herself lying in bed. She remembered that she had been waiting for He Ci on the sofa the night before.

She didn't even know when she fell asleep. Hearing a noise outside, Su Ning quickly got dressed and went out to check.

He Ci woke up at some point, and breakfast was almost ready.

Seeing Su Ning get up, He Ci put down the spatula in his hand and came to Su Ning.

"Little darling, you're awake. Go wash up and try my cooking."

Su Ning nodded with a smile. This was He Ci's first time cooking, and the food on the table looked pretty good.

After washing up, Su Ning sat down at the dining table, and He Ci handed her chopsticks.

"Little darling, see if it suits your taste."

Su Ning took the chopsticks and, under his expectant gaze, picked up a broccoli and put it in her mouth.

Su Ning...

She picked up another fried egg, which looked delicious. Su Ning took a small bite, and... well...

He Ci was still waiting for Su Ning's evaluation, and in order not to discourage him, Su Ning ate two fried eggs in one go.

He Ci thought Su Ning liked fried eggs, so he wanted to give her his as well, but Su Ning quickly stopped him.

"Brother Ci! I'm really full."

He Ci saw that Su Ning didn't seem to be lying, so he didn't insist. Su Ning saw that he wanted to eat the fried egg on the plate, so she reached out and took it from him.

"Brother Ci, can I save this fried egg for dinner?"

He Ci, being such a shrewd person, saw Su Ning's action and beckoned to her with his finger.

"Give it to me."

Before Su Ning could say anything, He Ci reached into the plate with his chopsticks, picked up a fried egg, and stuffed it into his mouth.

He chewed a few times and then stopped. He got up and ran quickly to the kitchen. He spat out the egg from his mouth and rinsed his mouth several times.

He even doubted how Su Ning could lie and say it was delicious. It was so salty it was almost unbearable, yet she managed to eat two in one go.

He Ci returned to the table and picked up a broccoli, but... it wasn't cooked.

He Ci reached out and pinched Su Ning's fair face. "Are you stupid? How can you swallow something so awful?"

Su Ning smiled faintly, "This is the first time Brother Ci has cooked, of course I have to support him."

He Ci looked at his masterpiece; although it looked very appealing, he really couldn't eat it.

He Ci put down his chopsticks, pulled Su Ning, and walked outside. "Let's not eat anymore, let's go downstairs."

Su Ning followed behind He Ci, who pulled her downstairs. Su Ning's laughter reached He Ci's ears, and he stopped and turned to look at the little woman in front of him.

"Still laughing? Let's see how I deal with you."

Before Su Ning could react, He Ci hoisted her onto his shoulder, and Su Ning blushed with embarrassment.

"Brother Ci, please put me down."

He Ci pretended not to hear and carried the person all the way downstairs before letting go.

"If you dare to laugh at me again, I'll punish you according to family rules."

Su Ning, unafraid of death, asked, "Brother Ci, what are our family rules?"

He Ci smiled maliciously, and Su Ning suddenly didn't want to know about the family discipline he was talking about anymore.

He Ci leaned close to Su Ning and kissed her on the cheek, then ran away. Su Ning realized what was happening and quickly chased after him.

He Ci turned around but didn't see Su Ning. He only heard Su Ning's scream from not far away.

"ah……."

His heart tightened and he quickly turned back, only to see Su Ning's pale face and her body still trembling.

He Ci walked over and hugged the person, "Little darling, what's wrong?"

Su Ning slowly pointed to a spot not far away. He Ci looked in the direction she was pointing and sure enough, there was half a body sticking out from behind the trash can.

"Don't be afraid, little one. Wait here while I come over and take a look."

It was the first time Su Ning had ever seen a dead person, and she clung tightly to He Ci's arm.

"Don't worry, it's okay. I'll just go check and come right back."

He Ci went around to the back of the trash can and saw a person lying on the ground, covered with garbage. He looked dead.

He Ci took out his phone to call the police, but Su Ning quickly stopped him.

"Brother Ci, I'm here to call the police."

Su Ning knew that He Ci's identity was sensitive. If he got involved in a murder case, it would be like mud falling into her crotch—even if it wasn't excrement, it would still be excrement.

The police arrived quickly, and Su Ning was surprised to find that the leader was Bai Yi.

A large crowd gathered to watch, and the area was quickly cordoned off.

Bai Yi was a little surprised to see that the person who called the police was Su Ning. He took out his ID and began to collect evidence from Su Ning.
