In the private room of the restaurant, Yu Ping's eyes were almost glued to He Ci; this was the first time they had been alone together.
"Brother Ci, does this count as a date? Have you considered marrying me?"
"Don't overthink it! I'm just inviting you to dinner."
Yu Ping pouted, and suddenly the food in her hand didn't taste so good anymore.
"Oh, I can't accept something for nothing. Here, take it back."
He Ci opened the box and took out a bracelet, dangling it in front of Yu Ping!
"Are you sure you don't want it? I think the two of them would like it too."
Yu Ping panicked and snatched the bracelet away.
"How could you do this? It was a gift for me, how could you give it to someone else?"
Yu Ping stared at He Ci. This was a unique item; neither Lu Na nor Qin Lu had one. She handed the bracelet to He Ci.
"Put this on for me."
He Ci took the bracelet. Yu Ping's wrist was very white and slender. He Ci felt that he could break it with a little force.
Yu Ping smiled broadly when she saw the jewelry on her wrist. She knew that He Ci wouldn't contact her for no reason; it was definitely not normal for him to bring her gifts and treat her to dinner today.
"Unsolicited kindness is either a sign of ulterior motives or theft. Tell me, what are you up to?"
"Do you think I'm the kind of person you only contact when you need something?"
Yu Ping glanced at him, her expression seeming to say, "I've seen through you all along."
“Brother Ci, you always took the three of us with you when we went out before. You never favored anyone else. Today you asked me out alone. Nobody would believe there’s nothing wrong with that.”
He Ci showed no embarrassment at being exposed; he simply brought it up directly.
"Do you have someone you like, or what kind of boyfriend do you like? I'll help you find one."
Yu Ping chuckled and moved closer to He Ci, saying, "I like you just the way you are. Don't say those nonsensical things; I don't like hearing them."
He Ci stretched out his index finger and pushed Yu Ping's forehead, instantly creating distance between them.
"Be serious. To me, the three of you are like sisters. I will not marry any of you. Of course, if anyone dares to bully you, I will deal with them."
“But I don’t want to be your sister, I want to be your wife. Our two families are well-matched, and with the support of the Yu family, your position in the gang will be more secure.”
He Ci was well aware that marrying any one of the three women would only benefit him. Marriage was not a game, and he only wanted to marry the person he loved.
“Pingping, you deserve better. I am not the right person for you. If you are willing, I can be your brother for life.”
Yu Ping didn't want to be He Ci's sister, so she got up and sat in He Ci's lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and offered her red lips.
He Ci turned his head away to avoid the kiss, but Yu Ping wasn't angry. She continued to tease He Ci in his arms.
“Brother Ci, I know you like that flower seller, and I understand your purpose too. Isn’t it just that you’re afraid my family will do something to her?”
"If you take me tonight, I'll tell my family I promise I won't touch her, and we'll even call each other sisters, okay?"
Yu Ping knew that someone of He Ci's status had no shortage of women. Since she could accept sharing a husband with Lu Na and Qin Lu, she wouldn't mind having one more, provided that she was the mistress of the house.
As long as she becomes He Ci's first woman, she has a way to get pregnant. After giving birth to a child of the He family, she won't have to worry about not becoming the matriarch of the He family.
He Ci never thought of having multiple women on one side. He wouldn't touch someone he didn't like, especially since Su Ning's personality would be bullied to the bone among this group of women.
"Su Ning is my bottom line. You may not mind, but I do. That's all I have to say. You can decide for yourselves."
Yu Ping was unwilling to accept this. She felt that she could accept polygamy, so why was He Ci so heartless?
Yu Ping hugged He Ci's waist, tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Brother Ci, I don’t mind that you have other women, I just beg you not to push me away. You know I’ve liked you since I was a child, and I want to marry you now that I’m older.”
He Ci pried Yu Ping's hands off; he wanted to extinguish the hopes of these people. Without hope, there would be no expectation.
"Since you don't want to be siblings, then we won't be anything. I will never marry you in this life, the next life, or even the life after that."
