Chapter 1.1: Bounty Hunter
September 7th, 310th year of the New Divine Calendar.
Auckland City, East City District.
That night, dark clouds covered the moon, the stars were dim, and the air was extremely humid, as if water could be wrung out of it.
Roy was wearing a well-cut black gentleman's suit, revealing a white shirt, a most fashionable bowler hat on his head, and a black cane in his hand.
For a seventeen or eighteen-year-old like him, it was really uncomfortable for him to walk with a cane, but for adult men in the Habsburg Empire, it was a standard feature.
When necessary, the cane can also be a makeshift weapon for self-defense. After all, the east side of the city is a notoriously slum area and is not safe.
Of course, a good walking stick is very expensive and not everyone can afford it.
Luo Yi was strolling through the dark streets with a cane in his right hand, his posture casual and his expression relaxed, as if he was taking a walk in a garden.
Under the dim street lights, it moves like a ghost through the city streets.
Until one place, he paused, looked around, found a corner, and slowly approached.
It was the shadow in the corner of the wall. He disappeared into it, even his breathing became faint. In just a moment, it was as if he had disappeared.
Shortly after he 'disappeared', there was the sound of hurried footsteps, noisy, chaotic, and heavy.
Under the faint starlight, three figures appeared at the corner of the street.
As they ran, they looked back where they came from, holding scimitars in their hands, blood dripping from the blades, and the stench and bloody smell drifted in the wind.
There was no doubt that these were three gangsters who had just killed someone and were blocked by Luo Yi while trying to escape.
However, Luo Yi did not show up immediately. Instead, his breathing became weaker, his muscles became more relaxed, and his overall presence became less and less.
When they were less than three steps away, he suddenly moved.
Like a cheetah jumping out of the darkness, he suddenly appeared in front of the three people, and what was even faster than him was the rapier in his hand.
It is common practice to make the cane hollow and hide a rapier.
Although a handy weapon is important, not everyone is qualified to carry a weapon around. Sometimes, having a weapon is even more important.
In the dim streets, a silver light suddenly lit up, like light or lightning, drawing an arc and chasing the neck of the person in front.
The man was originally running forward, with his attention focused on the people behind him. When the silver light appeared, it was as if he had crashed directly into the person behind him.
Before a look of horror appeared on his face, his muscles instinctively reacted and he raised the scimitar in his hand to block.
The only advantage of a sword hidden in a cane is that it's concealed enough, but it also has many disadvantages. For example, it can only be used for stabbing, and the blade is thin, making it difficult to block, etc...
Unless it was a magical weapon, the scimitar would likely break the rapier if it was hit hard. However, Luo Yi did not hesitate at all, and was even faster. Seeing the scimitar approaching, his arm trembled slightly.
It was a very slight tremor, but the power extended from the arm to the end of the blade, and the tip of the sword shook like a phantom.
As a result, the aorta was cut and blood spurted out from the throat, instantly staining the clothes and the ground red.
The bandit opened his eyes wide, dropped his scimitar, covered his neck, and wanted to shout, but only the sound of leaking air could be heard.
Three gangsters, and one of them died just like that!
Ke Luoyi did not stop, stepped over the corpse, and moved the sword again. There was a "chi chi" sound of breaking through the air, and the sword light exploded, turning into stars of silver light that stirred the air.
The second bandit was obviously prepared. He growled, his muscles bulged, and he raised his knife and chopped towards Luo Yi's head.
He knew that he was not fast enough, so he did not think about blocking, but instead exchanged his life to see who would dodge first.
As long as Luo Yi hides, he will have room to maneuver, and he will be able to create distance and fight.
This is not just a simple sword skill, it is the fighting experience accumulated from countless battles.
In fact, Luo Yi did dodge. He leaned his upper body back, exerted force on his waist and abdomen, and bent down, allowing the knife light to pass before his eyes.
But the sword in his hand did not stop at all, but instead became faster and moved forward a distance.
In just a moment, seven or eight blood flowers exploded on the bandit's body. The wounds were not big, after all, the blade of the rapier was too thin.
But these seven or eight small holes are distributed in the heart, eyes, throat, eyebrows and other places, which are all vital points.
When the rapier was pulled out and Luo Yi stood up again, the bandit had already fallen down with his eyes open.
This series of actions was extremely fast, and the third bandit finally stood still.
In the dim streets, his eyes suddenly shrank, as if a faint light shone, and he stared at Luo Yi intently.
Behind us, the noise was getting closer and closer, along with the sounds of lit torches, swaying lanterns, disordered footsteps, and loud shouts.
But the bandit was not afraid at all, and did not even look back. He just stared at Luo Yi with a ferocious arc at the corner of his mouth.
"I'm curious, what kind of people are you from? Why did you want to kill my brother?"
Luo Yi spoke for the first time, his voice still a little childish: "First mate of the Bloody Mary, Jack the Ripper, I heard you killed a lot of people at sea?"
"You want to avenge them?"
"No, no, no, that has nothing to do with me. The main thing is that you are an escaped prisoner from the Alamodo Prison. Three days ago, you attacked the guards, released other prisoners, and set fire to the prison. You are one of the masterminds of the riot.
So, your head is worth a lot of gold in the police station."
"Are you a bounty hunter?"
"I'm just an amateur bounty hunter. I can earn some gold and polish my swordsmanship at the same time. Kill two birds with one stone, why not?"
"Haha, I'm just worried that you'll earn money but not spend it!"
"Then we can only try!"
Before he finished speaking, both sides started moving. Jack's weapon was not a machete, but that did not stop him from wielding the knife with great skill.
Two blade lights were seen spinning around him, flashing with cold light, as if they could withstand all attacks.
This move alone showed Jack's experience. He was not prepared to compete with Loy in sword speed, nor did he think that a scimitar could be faster than a rapier.
Therefore, he expanded the defensive area as much as possible in order to seize the opportunity and overpower the opponent.
For him, just one clash of weapons is enough!
But this time, Loy did not choose to avoid, but rushed out like a cheetah, stabbing his sword across the air, bringing out silver snakes that covered every part of Jack the Ripper.
Luo Yi was very cautious, dancing the rapier in his hand, trying his best to avoid head-on collisions, intending to use the speed of the sword to continuously inflict wounds on Jack.
If you talk about the effect, it really did exist. Jack only felt the pain and there were several bloody wounds on his body. But he also seized the opportunity. The scimitar flashed, and he slashed from left to right with all his might!
bite!
Sparks flew and crisp collision sounds were heard from far away in the darkness. After all, Luo Yi's rapier was not a masterpiece of a famous artist, nor was it a magic weapon. It was hit hard and broke directly.
Jack's face showed an ecstatic look, and he obviously felt that without weapons, the other party would be a lamb to be slaughtered.
But as soon as he looked up, he saw Luo Yi's calm eyes and his fist that was getting bigger and bigger.
Bang!
He punched out with his left fist, and before Jack could retract his scimitar, he hit him directly on the bridge of his nose.
With just this one punch, Jack felt a sharp pain and his head tilted back uncontrollably, while a broken sword broke through the air and passed through his throat.
The sound of leaking air spread out, and blood spurted out like a fountain. Jack stared with his eyes wide open, and turned them slightly, trying to stare at his enemy.
But at this time, Luo Yi had already retreated. After a few steps, he appeared at the entrance of the alley several meters away.
At this moment, he seemed calm, but his breathing was a little disordered, and his forehead and back were wet with sweat.
Although his performance was perfect, after all, this was his first time in actual combat, the first time he slashed an enemy's throat with a sword, the first time he saw blood splatter...
That's right, this was his first time killing someone!
However, after just a few breaths, he recovered, raised his head slightly, and his eyes were as sharp as a sword in the dim night.
"Come out!"
His voice was not loud, but it could be heard from far away in the darkness. So, at the end of the street, the footsteps that seemed to be getting closer and closer were actually getting closer.
The light from torches and lanterns illuminated the surroundings, revealing a group of short figures. To be precise, they were all half-grown children of thirteen or fourteen years old, dressed in rough clothes and covered in dirt.
Only in the light of the fire, those pairs of eyes were unusually bright and equally fierce.
At this time, a half-grown child also walked out from Luo Yi's left side.
He was older, about fifteen or sixteen, and noticeably taller, but just as thin. He wore a poorly fitting gentleman's suit and also held an old cane in his hand.
However, when he walked out from the corner of the street, he was really silent.
"Angel, this place is up to you. Clean it up."
"Just wait and see. Tomorrow I'll deliver the body to the Sheriff's Office and then give you the reward. I'll make sure not a single Teal is missing."
"I believe in you, I just hope you won't betray my trust."
Having said this, Luo Yi turned and left. He reinserted the half-broken sword into his cane and tapped the ground with the cane. With the sound of "beep beep beep", he walked away.
His posture was still as straight and elegant as ever, except for the blood stains on his clothes, otherwise he looked exactly the same as when he came.
Behind him, Ange had an envious look on his face and twisted his body unconsciously, as if trying to make the gentleman's suit fit better.
Imitation will always result in a situation where you end up drawing a dog instead of a tiger!
However, at this moment, there were already a lot of people gathered around Ang, all of them were young boys.
As soon as he came to his senses, he shouted, "Everyone, move, quickly, move, this is the beginning of our brotherhood becoming famous!"
And in the distance, in the darkness, Luo Yi was already shouting in his heart.
"Deep Blue, Deep Blue, stop playing dead and tell me how I fought.
Also, can the 'property panel' you mentioned be built?"
"Master, the basic conditions have been met, but in order to ensure accuracy, I need some time."
"how long?"
"The shortest is one or two days, the longest is three to five days."
"Well, I'll give you some time. I just hope it's as useful as you say!"
October 1st is actually not a very suitable day to publish a new book, mainly because the editors are on holiday.
But I still posted it, because I felt that National Day is also the birthday of this book, so it’s really a great deal, haha!
