Shen Yunjiao guessed that perhaps her performance today was too realistic, which made Miss Fang dissatisfied.
She was so full that her stomach was bloated and uncomfortable, so she leaned casually against the door and explained to Fang Ziyu, "I was just angry today and my mind wasn't working properly. Don't mind me, I won't kick you out next time."
Seeing Shen Yunjiao's lazy appearance, Fang Ziyu's anger flared even more.
She glared at Shen Yunjiao and said angrily, "Princess Consort, I've made myself clear today: His Highness has no feelings for you."
"Everyone knows that the Crown Princess is shallow and domineering. How could such a good person as the Crown Prince possibly be interested in you?"
"You!" Fu Xia wanted to rush forward and teach this shameless woman a lesson, but Shen Yunjiao stopped her by raising her hand. She glanced at Fang Ziyu lazily and said, "Continue."
Fang Ziyu raised her head arrogantly and said, "Since you know that the young master and I are in love, why are you still pestering me? Aren't you just making yourself a laughing stock?"
Shen Yunjiao did not dislike Fang Ziyu at first.
But her ability to say those words surprised Shen Yunjiao.
What do you mean by "persistently pestering"? A girl's words are so unpleasant.
"Instead of hurling insults at me here, why don't you go and persuade your sweetheart to ask for a divorce?" Shen Yunjiao said, raising an eyebrow.
"The Crown Princess is truly laughable. Everyone in the world knows that your Shen family is incredibly powerful, and we insignificant people simply cannot stand against them."
Shen Yunjiao sighed, "That's absolutely right!"
Fang Ziyu's eyes blazed with anger as she glared at Shen Yunjiao: "Princess Consort, don't forget, even if you force His Highness to marry you, the only person he loves is still me. No matter how you threaten or entice him, it won't work!"
"The bond between you and Your Highness is something you can never break."
Fang Ziyu left with those words, her head held high.
"This, this!"
"Miss, you must go to His Highness and let him judge this matter!"
Fu Xia was so angry that her neck turned red. She was panting heavily as she tried to pull Chen Yunjiao to find Pei Zhixuan.
"Idiot!" Shen Yunjiao broke free from Fu Xia and lightly tapped her head with her backhand. "She dares to come and provoke me so openly, she must be absolutely certain that Pei Zhixuan will side with her. If I go over there, what good will Pei Zhixuan do for me?"
"But young lady, this person is really taking advantage of our kindness!" Granny Lin was also angry, but she wasn't as agitated as Fuxia. "Does young lady have any plans to deal with Fang Ziyu?"
"It's not worth dealing with her." Shen Yunjiao turned and went back into the house.
After Lin Mama closed the door, Shen Yunjiao spoke: "Actually, it's good that Fang Ziyu did this. The more she likes Pei Zhixuan, the sooner I can get a divorce."
Lin Mama sighed, "Has the young lady never given up the idea of separating from her husband? But if she really leaves the Duke's mansion, it will be difficult to find another husband."
Granny Lin was thinking of Shen Yunjiao's situation from her own experience. In the Dayong Dynasty, remarried women were the most despised.
"I would rather remain unmarried for life than compromise myself." Shen Yunjiao took off her shoes and socks and lay down on the daybed.
Her long, languid gaze fell upon the swaying lamplight.
"Granny, I hope that I can not be bound by love and romance, and bravely try things that I have never done before."
"I also hope that the Shen family can live in peace and safety."
"This is my greatest wish."
Shen Yunjiao spoke as if to Granny Lin, or perhaps to herself.
—
Last night, a sudden and torrential downpour began in the middle of the night.
Shen Yunjiao ate too much and tossed and turned in bed all night, unable to sleep.
I wonder if the peonies and crabapple trees outside the courtyard will get wet from the rain.
Seeing that the sky was just beginning to lighten with the first hint of dawn, she quickly grabbed a white cloak embroidered with green plum blossoms and went to the courtyard to check.
Sure enough, after being drenched by the rain, the crabapple blossoms fell to the ground, and the peony blossoms that had just bloomed the day before yesterday also looked listless.
Shen Yunjiao was heartbroken. She brought her face close to the few peony flowers and carefully observed them to see if she should move them indoors.
As soon as Pei Zhixuan stepped into the courtyard of Chunhe Hall, she saw a white figure bending over with his back to her.
Who's there?
The woman in white froze upon hearing his question, turned around to look at him, and her almond-shaped eyes, which were filled with water, were now full of surprise.
Shen Yunjiao didn't expect to run into Pei Zhixuan so early in the morning. He looked tired and had dark circles under his eyes.
Could it be that I stayed up too late last night trying to coax my girlfriend?
Pei Zhixuan watched as Shen Yunjiao turned around and respectfully squatted down to greet him.
The courtyard was shrouded in mist after the rain, and Shen Yunjiao's expression appeared somewhat indistinct in the fog.
Pei Zhixuan took a few more steps toward her before he noticed that Shen Yunjiao was only wearing a single garment under her cloak.
Aren't you afraid of catching a cold wearing so little clothing?
He frowned, realizing he seemed to be looking at something he shouldn't have, and then shifted his gaze to her small, delicate face.
Beneath the woman's arched eyebrows were a pair of bright, clear eyes. Her fair and flawless skin had a faint pinkish hue, giving her a languid yet charming look.
Pei Zhixuan's eyes flickered, and he opened his mouth to ask, "So early?" His voice contained a hint of obscure, hoarse, and low.
"It rained last night, and I wanted to see how the flowers in the yard were doing," she said casually, then turned to face the withered peonies.
“Now it truly is a case of ‘the green leaves are lush and the red flowers are faded,’” Shen Yunjiao muttered to herself, which startled Pei Zhixuan.
“What a beautiful scene of lush greenery and withered red flowers.” Pei Zhixuan’s face showed a rare complex expression. “The lush green leaves and withered red flowers have actually captured such a sentiment.”
LOL, you believe I can even hum a song about it?
Shen Yunjiao stood up, clapped her hands, and looked at Pei Zhixuan with amusement. "What do you mean by 'surprisingly'?"
"Who doesn't know that the Prime Minister's daughter is ignorant and uneducated, completely ignorant of poetry and literature?" Pei Zhixuan said with a mocking smile.
"Stop saying I'm the daughter of the Prime Minister. Don't I have a name?"
She picked up a whole pot of peonies and walked towards a dry spot on the veranda, but unexpectedly Pei Zhixuan strode up in front of her.
"What?" Shen Yunjiao glared at him.
Pei Zhixuan pursed his lips and remained silent, but took the flowerpot from her arms and placed it directly on the stairs by the corridor.
He moved all the flowers to the dry open space outside the door after a few trips.
The sun has risen in the west? The young master is actually helping me?
Pei Zhixuan turned around and looked down at Shen Yunjiao.
He thought he would at least get a "thank you" from her, but to his surprise, Shen Yunjiao blinked and asked, "Have you taken the wrong medicine?"
Pei Zhixuan's expression turned cold.
Soon, a smile appeared on Shen Yunjiao's lips.
"I was just kidding, thank you, Your Highness."
It's quite fun to tease Pei Zhixuan occasionally.
On this foggy and damp morning, Pei Zhixuan decided to be magnanimous and not get angry with Shen Yunjiao.
"Oh, right." Shen Yunjiao suddenly remembered something and looked up at Pei Zhixuan.
"You said you would marry Miss Fang on the fifteenth of next month."
"Then can I move out of the Duke's Mansion and back to the Shen Mansion starting this month?"
