Chapter 265 Don't Look Back

Chapter 265 Don't Look Back

"roll!"

Hearing the commotion behind him, He Liqun roared without hesitation, "You brats, just you wait! When I get out of here, I'll show you what I'm made of!"

As his voice fell, Lin Yan'an clearly felt the people behind him pause suspiciously for a moment, and then reacted even more quickly.

"Hurry, they're catching up!"

Lin Yan'an couldn't help but let out a low growl.

What else could He Liqun do but climb even faster?

Even though I knew everyone behind me was an acquaintance, the thrill of the atmosphere was still really intoxicating.

After climbing for an unknown amount of time, a glimmer of light finally appeared before our eyes.

He Liqun couldn't contain his excitement any longer: "I can see the exit!"

Upon hearing this, Lin Yan'an looked up and saw the sliver of light in front of him. Together with He Liqun, they quickened their pace and finally climbed out of the other end of the pipe, landing heavily on the soft sponge mat.

After Lin Yan'an got up, he subconsciously looked up at the pipe.

Seeing that the hand had only extended a little before quickly retracting, I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

However, he finally felt a little relieved.

He Liqun looked at the strange space before him. Just moments ago, when they were given a tour, it was a workshop, but now…

Inside the once vast and empty vehicle, strange totems now appeared on the surrounding walls. Beneath the distorted patterns and symbols, a faint, eerie blue light seemed to flow slowly.

In the center of the workshop, an altar roughly constructed of black ore surrounded the original machinery.

Several clusters of eerie green flames still flickered on the altar, emanating an unsettling smell of burning and a faint odor of sulfur as the flames danced.

Dozens of people dressed in tattered black robes and wearing ferocious animal bone masks had just been moving silently and orderly around the altar, as if they were performing some kind of mysterious and ancient ritual.

Their steps were stiff yet synchronized, and upon hearing the commotion from the two of them, they all turned to look at them simultaneously.

The empty eye sockets on the masks all turned towards them.

When Lin Yan'an and He Liqun appeared, all the moving figures froze instantly.

The chanting stopped abruptly.

A deathly silence instantly enveloped the entire space.

For a moment, only the faint crackling sound of the eerie green flames burning on the altar remained.

Lin Yan'an looked up slightly and was surprised to find a faint pinkish-white mist on the roof.

Before he could think too much, his thoughts were interrupted by a sudden voice.

"The offerings... have come to us of their own accord..."

On the altar, an exceptionally tall figure wearing a bone mask adorned with enormous horns and colorful feathers slowly rose and turned to face them.

He held a bone staff inlaid with black objects, the head of which pointed directly at them.

His voice was deep and hoarse, with an eerie quality.

Lin Yan'an looked at him warily, then at the people in black robes in front of him.

Sure enough, shortly after he finished speaking, those people wearing black robes and masks seemed to have been activated, and they all let out a series of low roars.

His previously stiff body became even more swift and powerful with the booming sound.

Like cheetahs that have smelled blood, they rushed toward He Liqun and Lin Yan'an from all directions.

"run!"

Without hesitation, He Liqun roared, turned around and grabbed Lin Yan'an, his eyes quickly locking onto the only dim blue indicator light on the other side of the workshop.

He remembered that place clearly; it was the only exit from here!

He Liqun felt both annoyed and relieved.

Fortunately... he had at least glanced at it once.

Ugh... He shouldn't have acted on a whim, what the hell was he doing?!

Lin Yan'an had no idea what He Liqun was thinking. He chose to believe him without hesitation and followed him without delay.

The two of them moved at lightning speed, rushing towards the passage.

Behind them came the chaotic sound of their footsteps, the clattering of their animal bone masks, and their deep, frenzied roars…

The passageway was narrow and winding, like a maze, and the walls were also carved with those eerie and unsettling totems.

The pale blue indicator light was their only source of light and their only hope.

The two of them didn't care about anything else and ran as fast as they could, desperately following the direction of the indicator light.

The sound of pursuit followed closely behind, as if there was no way to shake it off.

Lin Yan'an turned around hastily and immediately saw the masked man who was chasing the closest, his hand almost grabbing He Liqun's clothes.

"quick!"

Lin Yan'an suddenly raised his hand and pushed He Liqun's back forward with force. Then he withdrew his hand and dodged the pale hand that had just reached out.

At the same time, he accelerated again, running alongside He Liqun.

He knew that everyone here was from the village and worked for the company, and he didn't want a physical altercation unless absolutely necessary.

That was an accident in the pipe, and it was a last resort for him.

Moreover, he was certain that it wasn't a real hand, since who could extend their hand more than a meter out?

Don't look back!

Lin Yan'an caught a glimpse of He Liqun lagging behind and, as he was about to turn around, shouted without hesitation, "Quick, follow me!"

"Okay!"

He Liqun immediately obeyed, turned his gaze away, and followed closely behind Lin Yan'an's figure.

As Lin Yan'an ran, he kept an eye on both sides of the passage.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up when he saw the iron chains hanging from the ceiling of the passageway ahead.

The old miner's lamp was tied to the end of the chain. It was not conspicuous in the dim blue light, but Lin Yan'an had an idea in an instant.

"Big brother, squat down!"

Although He Liqun was somewhat confused, he trusted Lin Yan'an completely and did as he was told without hesitation.

The moment he crouched down, Lin Yan'an suddenly ran and jumped up.

He reached out and grabbed the iron chain, using the momentum to swing it around.

"Splash!"

The iron chains, along with the miner's lamps, began to shake violently, forming a swaying barrier in the narrow passage.

The two people who were chasing the chain stopped in their tracks simultaneously. Seeing that the chain was about to swing over, they quickly took a few steps back.

In those precious few seconds, Lin Yan'an and He Liqun had already run quite a distance.

The two, forced to stop, exchanged a glance and smiled helplessly.

Lin Yan'an noticed the movement behind him, turned around to look at the tightly closed door in front of him, saw the sliver of light shining through the crack, then turned back to look at the two people behind him. He and He Liqun exchanged a glance, and the two of them instantly relaxed and smiled.
