Chapter 166 I'm not kidding you anymore

Chapter 166 I'm not kidding you anymore

No, not good at all!

But looking at Zhong Wan's face, Lin Yan'an really couldn't bring himself to voice that terrible guess.

Sometimes he thought it was better that she didn't know, but it was almost lunchtime.

Is it really possible that she still hasn't noticed?

Lin Yan'an dared not gamble, but did not know how to bring it up.

Looking into Zhong Wan's bright eyes, he felt all the words he wanted to say stuck in his throat, a mixture of sourness and bitterness.

"Wanwan..."

He looked at Zhong Wan with a sorrowful gaze and murmured her name softly.

Zhong Wan gazed at his eyes with a smile, keenly noticing the worry in them.

She looked down at the tea in her hand, then lowered her head and took another sip.

It still tastes the same as before.

But she also keenly sensed something was amiss.

Although she doesn't usually drink tea, she knows how bitter this color of tea must be.

Then, thinking back to what Old Master Zhou just said and his reaction.

Lin Yan'an's cooking skills are fine; the problem lies with her, right?

Perhaps he had already guessed this, which is why he deliberately appeared unskilled when brewing tea.

Is he verifying his guess?

Or is it a subtle way of reminding myself?

Zhong Wan lowered her eyes, toying with the cup in her hand, and said in a steady voice, "Lin Yan'an, is my sense of taste weakening?"

"Wanwan."

Lin Yan'an was taken aback, and quickly sat down beside her, nervously holding her small hand and saying, "Don't worry, don't be afraid, this is only temporary..."

Upon hearing this, Zhong Wan looked up and met his gaze. Seeing the worry in his eyes, she smiled slightly, her face unusually calm.

She reached out and grasped Lin Yan'an's hand, smiling reassuringly, "Don't worry, I'm not afraid."

"Like you said, this is only temporary,"

"I usually have a craving for food and it's hard for me to lose weight. Now that my sense of taste has weakened, I should be able to control my cravings, right?"

Zhong Wan wasn't entirely sure, since her sense of taste was weakened, but her sense of smell was still normal.

Well, although you might not be able to taste the flavor much, you can definitely smell the delicious aroma.

Seeing her expression, which seemed normal, Lin Yan'an felt an overwhelming pang of heartache.

"Wanwan..."

His voice was hoarse, filled with deep remorse: "I'm sorry, it's my fault for not protecting you..."

"Stop! Halt!"

Zhong Wan raised her hand and gently pressed it against his lips, stopping him from finishing his sentence.

"Lin Yan'an, this has nothing to do with you."

Her eyes met Lin Yan'an's, and she explained earnestly, "I overdraw my merit points, so I should bear the consequences myself. It's already very kind of you to stay with me."

Her warm fingertips touched his thin lips, instantly calming his flustered and anxious heart.

Protecting her was his responsibility as a husband.

Now, while accepting punishment, she also has to comfort herself.

Lin Yan'an took a deep breath, raised his hand to hold her small hand, and looked at her with deep and firm eyes, as he promised again, "I will stay by your side for the next few days."

"Whatever you want to eat, whatever you want to do, I'll go with you."

Zhong Wan smiled at him, tilted her head slightly, and asked teasingly, "Then I want to eat... a super spicy hot pot, do you want to come too?"

Lin Yan'an was taken aback upon hearing this, but then nodded firmly: "I'll accompany you!"

Beneath his calm expression lay an undisguised fearlessness in the face of death.

Although he usually prefers light flavors, he can eat anything, even strong flavors, when he's with her!

"Pfft."

Seeing this, Zhong Wan couldn't help but chuckle. She leaned forward slightly and placed a kiss on his lips: "Good boy, I won't tease you anymore."

Lin Yan'an breathed a sigh of relief, but a faint sense of disappointment flashed through her heart.

A hint of a smile flashed across his face as he reached out and ruffled Zhong Wan's hair without any hesitation.

"oops!"

Zhong Wan quickly reached out to protect her head, leaning back against the sofa back: "Lin Yan'an, your hair is all messed up!"

She complained, but her eyes were full of bright smiles, as if she really didn't think the matter was a problem.

Lin Yan'an's tense emotions instantly eased, and the oppression in her heart disappeared with her smile.

"It's chaotic."

A relaxed smile appeared on his face, and his voice became much lighter: "It looks good even when it's messy."

After saying that, he reached out and gently tidied the stray hairs on her cheek.

"Smooth-talking!"

Zhong Wan gave him a reproachful look, while raising her hand to tidy her hair and curiously observing Lin Yan'an's expression: "Lin Yan'an, how come I never knew you were so... good with words?"

"Um?"

Lin Yan'an was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and asked, "Do you like it?"

Zhong Wan shrugged: "It's alright, anyway, we've already got the certificate, and we can't go back on it."

Her words seemed somewhat helpless, but her face was full of smiles.

After fixing Lin Yan'an's hair, she affectionately reached out and ruffled it, playfully praising, "Not bad, keep it up."

"hehe."

Lin Yan'an couldn't help but chuckle softly.

As Grandpa Zhou leisurely walked out of the restaurant with his cane, he saw the two of them being so affectionate.

He smiled and shook his head, and after they finished talking, he called out, "Alright, come and eat when you've had enough fun."

Zhong Wan looked over at the sound and immediately met Old Master Zhou's mocking gaze.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed his hand was still on Lin Yan'an's head and quickly withdrew it.

Then he looked at Grandpa Zhou and chuckled, "I know, Grandpa."

As soon as she finished speaking, she stood up and urged Lin Yan'an with a hint of anticipation, "Hurry up, Lin Yan'an."

"I'm going to try out a diet meal."

"Um?"

Grandpa Zhou paused in his turn, then looked back in confusion: "Girl, your Uncle Zhao is preparing braised pork."

"Is this a diet meal?!"

His expression was strange; he raised his gray eyebrows slightly and looked at Zhong Wan with a mocking expression.

"Hehe, Grandpa, you don't understand. People who eat meat don't tend to get fat."

Zhong Wan smiled and continued, "Let me tell you, one of my college roommates is a vegetarian who has never eaten meat, yet he's not as thin as me."

"Oh? Is that so?"

Upon hearing this, Old Master Zhou was somewhat surprised.

"Uh-huh."

Zhong Wan nodded quickly and affirmatively: "Yes, and we contacted each other a while ago. She said she was almost 140 pounds. She doesn't eat meat, but she doesn't exercise much either."

"I've gotten fatter every year since graduation."

Grandpa Zhou smiled and shook his head, looking at Zhong Wan and admonishing her, "Wanwan, I think you're a bit lacking in exercise too."

"Grandpa~"
