Chapter 37 Who's lying to whom?!

Chapter 37 Who's lying to whom?!

"Take it."

Seeing that he didn't move, Zhong Wan urged, "Hurry up and hold it for me. What if we lose it or can't find it later?"

As Zhong Wan spoke, she glanced at the pocket on his clothes and tentatively slipped her phone back into the pocket where she had already put the medicine.

Looking at the phone, now only a small part of it remained, Zhong Wan still worriedly reminded her, "Remember, don't lose it."

Lin Yan'an glanced down at his pocket, then at Zhong Wan, and asked in a low voice, "You trust me that much?"

Zhong Wan shrugged: "Why wouldn't I trust you?"

"Aren't you afraid I'm a scammer?"

“(ˉ▽ ̄~) Tsk~~”

Zhong Wan glanced at him disdainfully and complained, "What are you lying to me about?"

"Scam? I'm not as rich as you. Your car must have cost a lot of money, right? I probably couldn't afford it even if I sold myself."

"Seduction?"

At this point, Zhong Wan paused slightly, her gaze subtly falling on Lin Yan'an's face: "Looking at your face... who's lying to whom?!"

Upon hearing this, Lin Yan'an couldn't help but burst out laughing.

He glanced at the pinky ring on his hand out of the corner of his eye, and instantly made a decision.

Use your injured right hand to remove it.

"Hey, what are you doing?"

Zhong Wan, confused, said with some concern, "I just applied the medicine for you, can you be careful?"

"Um."

Lin Yan'an gave a soft "hmm," then looked at her and said, "I'm sorry, it was my fault."

His gaze was focused and profound.

Zhong Wan felt a little awkward under his gaze.

She looked away and shook her head: "It's nothing."

But to her surprise, he grabbed her hand the next second.

The slightly cool temperature startled her, and she quickly turned her head to look.

Lin Yan'an took her left hand with his left hand and put the ring on her finger with his right.

As he slowly made the recommendation, Lin Yan'an keenly sensed her slight trembling and said softly, "It was a bit rushed, but I still wanted to bring it for you."

"This is a ring my grandmother left me, saying it was for her future granddaughter-in-law,"

He looked down at the slender, fair fingers before him, gently rubbing the ring with his right thumb, and continued, "Now it's yours."

Zhong Wan looked down at their clasped hands, her feelings a complex mix.

The relationship between the two, who were thought to be mutually beneficial, seems to have undergone some changes at this moment.

His body temperature wasn't high, but Zhong Wan felt it was burning hot to the touch.

She calmly withdrew her hand and said, "No problem, don't worry, I'll definitely keep it safe for you."

"I promise I'll give it back to you the day you want to leave and end our relationship."

Upon hearing this, Lin Yan'an looked up at her, disbelief in his eyes, and his usually steady heart seemed to clench for a moment.

He pursed his lips and withdrew his hand: "No need."

My previously cheerful mood instantly plummeted.

The two fell silent for a moment.

Zhong Wan stared intently at the clock hanging on the wall, silently counting down the time in her mind.

As the countdown approached, I started to feel a little nervous.

She glanced at the tightly closed door, then at the clock.

A complex emotion flashed in Lin Yan'an's eyes upon seeing this.

"If you're worried, why don't you go in and check?"

Upon hearing this, Zhong Wan shook her head without hesitation.

"What if they don't show up on time? Won't you fail to complete your task and not get your full bonus?"

Zhong Wan took a deep breath and glanced at Lin Yan'an with disdain: "If you can't speak properly, then shut up!"

For a moment, it seemed as if the tenderness they had just felt was nothing more than an illusion.

But,

Zhong Wan looked down at the ring on her hand and said in a muffled voice, "Then I'll accept it."

"Willing to give it up?"

"I can't bear to part with it!"

Zhong Wan's voice was extremely low: "But what can we do even if we're reluctant? In this life, there are always some things that are more important than money."

But Lin Yan'an heard it all clearly.

Turning her head to look at Zhong Wan, she murmured, "And what about you? Do you think other people's affairs are more important than the money you've got?"

Zhong Wan shook her head decisively: "How could that be?"

But she glanced at the door and said weakly, "But I can't bear to, and I don't want to, interrupt them."

"Besides, I can earn more money if I lose it, but spending it..."

With a creak, the door opened.

Zhong Wan's eyes lit up instantly.

But it was soon replaced by sorrow.

Time always comes to an end, and farewells always occur.

Compared to Yaya, who was crying and fussing just a moment ago, she was much calmer now.

The little one, clutching a plush toy in one arm and a sheet of drawing paper in the other, was the first to emerge.

Hua Hua followed closely behind with Zai Zai.

A tiny person and two tiny ghost cats stood in front of Zhong Wan one by one.

"Thank you, Uncle and Aunt."

Ya Ya bowed to them and thanked them.

Then he stood up, sniffed, but had a smile on his face.

She sat on the ground, put down what she was holding, and loosely embraced Hua Hua and her child.

With a choked voice, she said reluctantly, "Mom and Dad said that Hua Hua and Luchy have to go."

Tears streamed silently down Ya Ya's face.

He was still smiling, and looked up at Zhong Wan, saying, "Lucky is a new English word I learned after Hua Hua was lost."

"The teacher said that 'lucky' means good fortune. I hope that Huahua and Zaizai will be lucky enough to let me find them or go home."

She paused for a moment after speaking, then continued with a wry smile, "If only I could be lucky enough to be adopted..."

In an instant, Zhong Wan felt that the little man in front of her seemed to have matured a lot.

"Pretty auntie, can this name really bless Hua Hua and her baby and bring them good luck?"

Zhong Wan was slightly taken aback upon hearing this. Looking at her focused and expectant eyes, she couldn't help but nod slightly: "Yes, I will!"

"I believe it will. Even if they don't use the name in life, it will protect them after death."

At this point, Zhong Wan gently wiped away Ya Ya's tears and said softly, "After all, it was because of this name that Ya Ya was able to see Hua Hua and Zai Zai one last time, right?"

Upon hearing this, Ya Ya's eyes lit up instantly, and she nodded in agreement immediately: "Yes, thank you, Auntie!"

Her voice carried a hint of joy as she looked down at Huahua and quickly said, "Huahua is so great, she still remembers what Yaya said."

"after……"

"Please remember the way home, okay?"

"Whenever you miss us, bring the baby back to visit..."

Even if we can't see you...

"Meow!"

Hua Hua nodded solemnly and called out.

She sat obediently beside Yaya, looking at her with eyes full of reluctance.

The kitten is more lively; I don't know if it's because it's so small, or something else.

Hua Hua lowered her head, bared her teeth at him, and barked once.

Lucky quickly sat down beside it, looking up at Huahua and then at Yaya.

Ya Ya instantly stopped crying and started laughing, a snot bubble even popping out of her nose.

But she didn't have time to care about all that.

She reached out and gently patted Lucky's little head, her sweet, childlike voice filled with the loving kindness of an elder: "Lucky, be a good girl and listen to Mommy."

"Otherwise, Mom will beat you, and Auntie won't save you."

Lucky tilted her head, looked at her, and softly called out.

"Meow~"
