Chapter 264 The Foolish Patients

Chapter 264 The Foolish Patients

"Squeak~"

The large iron gate under Lin Yan'an's command creaked and groaned as he exerted force, and was forced to open inward.

Instantly, an even stronger, more pungent smell of disinfectant hit the air, mixed with the stench of blood and decay...

Just smelling this is suffocating.

Lin Yan'an's brows furrowed instantly, and he held his breath, squinting as he looked.

He Liqun also stood behind him, holding his breath and peering in.

The dimly lit, cramped room was completely exposed. Two rusty iron shelves stood quietly in the corner, their cabinet doors hanging crookedly. Deep inside the cabinets, something else was vaguely visible, but unfortunately, the light was too dim for Lin Yan'an to see clearly.

His gaze immediately shifted away, and he continued watching.

Next to the wall, several iron bunk beds were lined up side by side, each sheet stained with dark red stains, resembling... dried bloodstains, their shapes grotesque.

The walls were covered with all sorts of old, blood-stained and rusty medical instruments: menacing retractors, barbed forceps, and thick, long syringes, all gleaming coldly in the dim light.

Most chillingly, there were two doctors in white, blood-stained coats, their backs to them.

They were now leaning over a hospital bed. On the bed, a person, mostly covered by a dirty white sheet, was convulsing violently. Their exposed legs were wrapped in bandages, which were still seeping blood.

At this moment, the person was kicking and thrashing weakly, occasionally letting out suppressed and painful groans.

There was a similar person lying in every ward.

The two doctors, with their backs to the door, were unaware of their sudden intrusion and continued intently at some procedure.

The patients seemed to sense them; some slowly sat up, some tried to turn to their side on the bed, and some... even rolled over and fell to the ground with a thud.

As they moved, something fell out of each of them, more or less.

Some are hands, some are eyes, and some are heads...

With a loud thud, it fell to the ground and shattered into pieces.

Seeing their movements, the two doctors immediately sensed something was wrong and turned to look at the door.

With their movements,

Only then did Lin Yan'an and the other person realize what they were doing.

Looking at the blood-stained and slag-covered human fragments they held in their hands, and then at their empty eyes, Lin Yan'an felt a chill creep up from her feet, the cold instantly rushing to the top of her head.

In their hands were not only human fragments, but also blood-stained instruments. Their white coats were already stained dark red with blood, mixed with a considerable amount of slag. Their faces were covered with stained masks, and their foreheads and even their eyes were stained with some red.

"A new...patient?"

One of the doctors slightly raised his head, looked at the two men with a strange smile, and asked in a hoarse yet calm voice,

Lin Yan'an seemed to vaguely sense the chill beneath his calm words.

His Adam's apple bobbed slightly, as he hesitated whether to answer.

The lights throughout the entire medical station began flashing wildly.

In the dim light, the smile on the doctor's face vanished instantly.

The patients lying in their beds suddenly began to struggle violently to their feet, letting out hoarse, piercing screams.

The severed limbs that had fallen to the ground began to slowly wriggle.

"The new patient... is being disobedient."

"Great...we've got them!"

Another doctor began to speak. Although his words were gentle and his eyes seemed to be smiling, what he said startled Lin Yan'an and He Liqun.

Especially after he finished speaking, those people all looked at them at the same time, grinning and running or crawling... just like that, heading in the direction of the two of them.

"Run!"

Lin Yan'an suddenly realized what was happening, hurriedly turned around, grabbed He Liqun's arm, and rushed outside.

But it was too late!

Suddenly, another large iron gate appeared behind them, slamming shut from the outside with a heavy thud.

The two of them exerted force together, but the door didn't budge.

"Since you're here... then stay..."

"Prepare to receive treatment..."

The doctor slowly raised the scalpel in his hand, the tip of which gleamed coldly under the flashing lights.

The stumps on the ground, and the patients struggling to get up, drew ever closer.

Both of them turned pale, trying to remain calm and supporting each other. One kept a close eye on the patients approaching, while the other looked around, trying to find another way out.

Suddenly, Lin Yan'an's gaze fixed on the iron cabinet in the corner. The iron door hung crookedly, and in the flickering light just now, he seemed to have noticed something unusual behind the cabinet.

Thinking of this, Lin Yan'an no longer hesitated. He made a quick decision, grabbed He Liqun, and rushed towards the iron cabinet: "Quick, this way!"

The two of them pushed the heavy iron cabinet together and, sure enough, found a narrow ventilation opening behind it.

The opening is very small, allowing only one person to crawl through.

The two exchanged a glance.

"Go inside quickly!"

Lin Yan'an pushed He Liqun inside first, then followed closely behind.

Before going in, he didn't forget to keep an eye on the patients out of the corner of his eye.

Seeing them approaching, he didn't hesitate to grab whatever was at hand and throw it, trying to stop their advance.

After seeing He Liqun crawl inside, he quickly bent down and followed suit.

The moment he crawled into the pipe, he suddenly felt as if something was grabbing his foot.

Lin Yan'an turned around and saw the blood-soaked face, then looked at the pale hand that was tightly gripping his trouser leg. Without hesitation, he kicked hard, broke free of the hand, and quickly crawled inside.

The pipe was pitch black; you could only crawl forward by feeling.

Behind them, there were intermittent, chilling scratching and roaring sounds, and even sounds of climbing and chasing.

"Hurry, they're catching up!"

Lin Yan'an called out softly from behind, and He Liqun didn't dare stop for a moment, not even slowing down. The two of them crawled desperately through the narrow pipe, one after the other.

Elbows and knees rubbed against the rough pipe walls, and Lin Yan'an could vaguely feel a long-lost, burning sensation. But the instinct for survival drove them not to stop and they tried to crawl forward.

"Sha... Foolish patients, give up your ridiculous ideas."

"This is... your final resting place!"

"Come back soon..."
