Chapter 146 Strawberry Cake

After spending two and a half days on the island, the captain appeared on shore promptly at 5 p.m. on the third day.

During the two-hour boat ride, Shi Jinzhe made the most of his time to catch up on sleep.

He and Shekh were taken to another island, where they stayed for three days.

During their visit, the two went to see a group of sharks and also explored the underwater world for black-lipped oysters, where they knocked out a colorful black pearl.

The quality wasn't great; it was just an experience for tourists. Shi Jinzhe had it made into a ring and gave it to Sher as a souvenir.

Compared to pearls of other colors, Sheikha prefers black pearls, as the dark color matches the black ribbons on her eyes better and is less jarring.

While waiting, Sher's gaze was drawn to a large, bright black pearl.

Shi Jinzhe looked over and asked, "Which one do you like?"

"like."

So Shekh received a pendant necklace made from an 18.88mm diameter aurora ragon.

Before returning to China, Shi Jinzhe cleaned the coral snail and the heart-shaped clam thoroughly and put them in a vacuum-sealed plastic bag to avoid any problems at customs.

After a layover and a total journey of one day and one night, the two finally landed in the country.

As soon as I got off the plane, the cold north wind from the Northern Hemisphere hit my face.

Snowflakes drifted onto my face; the airport was full of passengers stranded due to the weather.

I paid extra for a car after the discount, and I felt that I really needed to buy a car.

Shekh can now maintain his human form three times, for a total of six hours, and not holding hands won't affect anything.

Upon learning that the homeowner had returned to China, the owner of the custom-made bedding company called to ask when they needed the enormous bed assembled.

Shi Jinzhe told him today.

He needs this spacious bed more than Sheikh does now.

I've been traveling domestically and internationally for a month now, and the people in my building are missing the residents on the 18th floor terribly.

We thought the ghost story was over, but less than a week after they left, strange noises started again. When Shi Jinzhe and Shehe returned, the aunt from the twelfth floor was very enthusiastic and brought them a bag of apples.

Shi Jinzhe thanked him, left two for Sheh, and gave the rest to the workers who came to install them.

The new year is almost here, so let's wish for good fortune.

The old bed was removed and a new bed was placed in. The design features a recessed tatami mat, with the mattress raised about 15 centimeters above the mattress underneath. The curved backrest made of top-grain cowhide is very comfortable.

Once this bed was placed in, the whole house felt like an enlarged version of a single bedroom; the carpet had to be moved out and almost touching the sofa in the living room.

Shekh loves this bed so much. She sleeps on the bed itself and on the end of the tatami mat, so she no longer has to have half of it sticking out on the ground.

She hugged Shi Jin's broken arm. "Let's go to sleep now."

Shi Jinzhe was signing the form for the installer when he heard this, his hand trembled, and the last stroke of the character "Zhe" went outside the form.

The installer, engrossed in his work, was reminded that a customer service inquiry call would come later, and he should answer it when he had a moment. After receiving his reply, he quickly and efficiently left.

After the person left, Shi Jinzhe breathed a sigh of relief, "A room that has been unoccupied for a month needs to be cleaned, but that's not possible now."

Shekh thought about it and agreed, "Then call someone over, let's go eat."

Shi Jinzhe listened to her and found a housekeeping company to do a deep cleaning of the house.

While the two were eating, a group of people at the next table were celebrating a child's birthday.

The child wasn't drawn to the cake, but rather to Sheikh at the next table, staring intently at the black pearl around her neck.

He cut a piece of cake and sent the piece with the biggest strawberry to Sheikh's table.

"Pretty sister, please have some cake~"

Shekh stared at the human cub, which was as tall as the table, then looked at the cake, then at the child, before turning to ask Shi Jinzhe, "Can I eat this?"

"First ask him what he wants to do."

"What are you going to do?" Shekh's tone was a little stiff; she couldn't muster the kind of voice one would use when speaking to a cub.

"I want to know where you bought this duck?" The little girl pointed to the pearl around her neck, a little shyly. "I want to buy one for my mom."

"foreign."

"That's expensive."

Sheh casually mentioned a number, and Shi Jinzhe had told her that one should not flaunt wealth and should only mention the cheapest option.

The child's expression fell. He took the cake and said, "I'm sorry, sister, I can only eat this once a year, so I won't give it to you." Then he left with the strawberry cake.

Sheikh watched the cake slip away from him, his eyes filled with longing.

Shi Jinzhe: "I'll go buy it for you later. It's not like it's that hard to find."

"But he said once a year."

"Birthday cakes come once a year, but they're all cakes in the end, so eat them whenever you want."

Sheikh asked, "Can I eat your birthday cake?"

"If you want to eat, I can celebrate my birthday every day." Shi Jinzhe didn't care much about this. He didn't even know his real birth date, so he could just celebrate whichever day he wanted.

“Then you can have one now,” Sheikh said, clearly enjoying the cake. She leaned in and folded it over, her knees under the table pressing against his legs. “For me.”

Shi Jinzhe pressed his palm against Shehe's leg: "Did you do that on purpose?"

After that night, Sheikh especially liked to stick close to him. His previous spinelessness was just laziness; he would just stick to whatever was closest to him.

Now, no matter what's around her, she just sticks to him, as if she were some kind of attractive snake charm.

"It wasn't intentional."

Sheh sat up straight; she had truly forgotten that she was using her legs, not her tail, and couldn't sit like that.

However, this did not stop her from making her request with a clear conscience: "I want strawberries too."

"Okay, I'll buy it."

After Shi Jinzhe finished eating, he immediately took her to buy a cake.

The wind stopped at night, but the snow continued.

Large snowflakes fell, and the snow on the sidewalks was cleared and then piled up again. Christmas had just passed, and there were still many red and green decorations on the roadside that hadn't been taken down.

There was a giant Christmas tree outside the cake shop, which resulted in more people taking photos inside than buying cakes.

Shi Jinzhe went into the store and picked out two cakes to take away.

"Are you going to celebrate my birthday twice?" Shekh was very satisfied with Shi Jin's buy-one-get-one-free service.

Not entirely.

Shi Jinzhe placed two cakes in front of her: "I celebrated mine once, and now I'm celebrating yours again. You should eat your own birthday cake too."

Shekh didn't say anything more after that.

She took a cake from Shi Jinzhe's hand and kept looking down at the cake in her hand as she walked away.

The cake shop wasn't far away, and the two of them walked back.

As he approached the bottom of the stairs, Shi Jinzhe saw a black Maybach S680 Pullman parked downstairs.

It was a car that looked very familiar to him, because it was the car that Cheng Yun had been sitting in most often in his garage over the past few years.

Shehe was only thinking about going home to eat cake when she noticed that Shi Jinzhe beside her had suddenly stopped. She followed his gaze and looked over.

A man who looked to be in his forties got out of the black car in front. He had a reserved demeanor and a very elegant manner, but he couldn't hide the fatigue on his face, especially the bloodshot eyes.
