Amidst the envious glances of other players who could only afford coarse grain buns, the two of them finished their dinner with vegetables, meat, and soup.
As darkness fell, Boss Sun reminded everyone again from upstairs, "Don't go out at night. There's nothing fun to do here. I won't be responsible if someone gets kidnapped."
A boy with a bowl cut muttered, "She's reminding me like this because she's going out at night, since something like this only happens if something happens at night."
"Don't rush on the first night," Ding Xun, who was staying in room 301, reminded him for reasons unknown.
Shi Jinzhe glanced over and saw that, apart from Gu Li, the girl in the black suit, Xue Ge, the short-haired girl, and Xiao Yun, who was peeping, and the round-faced girl who was the first to be approached, the other seven players ate quietly the whole time, neither discussing nor glancing around.
He couldn't help but take a second look. The round-faced girl and the bowl-cut girl lived in 305 and 306 respectively, while the seven silent people lived on the first and second floors with Xiaoyun.
It wasn't that Shi Jinzhe was overconfident, but rather that he and Sheh were too famous in the game. Even if he wasn't interested in them, it would be too deliberate to ignore them completely.
These seven people should always observe the environment and assess the skill level of their teammates; if they don't look at them, they should at least look at others.
Shi Jinzhe withdrew his gaze. He didn't sense anything wrong with his skills. Sheh hadn't mentioned anything unusual, and he had all the player information. Was he just overthinking it?
After thinking for a while, Shi Jinzhe found an item called "Horror Polaroid" in the store.
It would be safer to check it again.
"Let me take your picture."
Sher looked up, glancing at the direction the Polaroid camera was pointing, then glanced at the camera.
She glanced at the other players behind her, then got up and sat in a different position, facing away from everyone else.
"The lighting is good here, let's take the picture."
Shi Jinzhe openly took out his camera and, with the help of Sher's location, took a picture containing fourteen people.
A moment later, the photographic paper was developed, and there was nothing unusual; all fourteen of them were people.
Shi Jinzhe calmly put away the photos, saying, "Have you finished eating? I'll show you the photos when we get back."
Sher nodded and returned to the Heart Heart Hotel with Shi Jin.
As soon as it got dark, all the lights in the building were turned on, and the white light tubes cast an unnatural white light on the walls. The cold light seeped into people's hearts, making the players who had returned with them instinctively feel uncomfortable.
Using the shadow of the person who came before her, Xiao Yun once again secretly peeked at the two of them. Suddenly, she saw a distorted red shadow appear at the hem of Shehe's skirt.
The red shadow bulged out, and the liquid that had surfaced split and extended, swaying back and forth as it stretched upwards, like a bloody hand.
The blood-red hand twisted its fingers, slowly rubbing towards Shekh's ankle.
Before Xiaoyun could even shout, Sheh stomped down, his heel striking the center of the bloody hand, causing the fingers to snap and spurt blood.
She looked up, but Sheikh seemed oblivious and continued walking up the stairs to the second floor.
Why aren't you leaving?
Xiao Yun was startled, unaware that someone had appeared behind her. It was a tall male player, the only one who didn't live on the third floor, but lived on the first floor like her.
"No, it's nothing." Xiaoyun hurriedly took two steps back.
"Did I scare you?" The tall male player smiled sheepishly. "I thought you'd discovered something when you didn't move."
He approached Xiaoyun, bent down slightly, and whispered as if telling a secret, "What did you see?"
The male player in front of her was very handsome. Logically speaking, she would be shy if a handsome guy spoke to her in this way, but when he stared at her, Xiaoyun's neck hairs suddenly stood on end.
The blindingly white background disappeared, leaving behind a silent blackness. A face with no visible pores was right next to hers, nose to nose, their eyes unblinking.
Xiao Yun felt a sense of terror, as if she were being watched. A chill ran through her chest, and she unconsciously held her breath.
"Looks like you didn't see anything. I was hoping to get some clues from you." The tall male player took a big step back. "I also live on the first floor. Let's go together."
Xiaoyun immediately shook her head, "I...I have something to talk to someone else, I need to go to the third floor first!"
She strode towards the stairs, and when she reached the second floor, her eyes swept down through the gaps in the stairs.
It's empty; nobody's there.
She breathed a sigh of relief and ran up to the third floor.
No matter what it takes, she's going to stay on the third floor today, or at the very least the second floor, anything to stay away from that male player.
Xiao Yun climbed to the third floor, and as she turned the corner, she glanced down through the gap in the stairs. A smiling face appeared from the second floor, and the male player silently followed her down to the second floor.
"Ah!" Xiaoyun ran frantically towards the third-floor corridor, but tripped hard in the doorway and fell two meters away.
Shi Jinzhe, who was inside the room, heard the terrified cries for help outside. Before he could even speak to Shehe, their bedroom had been transformed in the blink of an eye.
The decaying walls were splattered with blood, covered in cracked flesh. The thick, damp air made one's throat feel constricted, and the strong smell of blood made one want to vomit.
Shekh watched as the bed she was sitting on turned into a pile of black, rotting flesh. He took a deep breath and stood up. "You didn't encounter this thing back then, did you?"
"Maybe." Shi Jinzhe shrugged. "Something's wrong with the house. Let's go out and see if it's just our room or the whole building."
Shekh agreed. This thing was a clever illusion; she hadn't even noticed the problem. It must have really encountered some other unknown force.
Instead of waiting, we should strike.
With Shi Jinzhe standing behind him, Shehe kicked open the door and looked up to see Xiaoyun, covered in blood, crawling and running toward him in a bizarre manner.
Her head was fixed on herself, her pale face reflecting an eerie white light, as if a beam of intense light was shining on her face, her expression one of extreme terror.
Xiao Yun's limbs were broken in the opposite direction, and she crawled sideways like a crab, crying out emotionlessly, "Help me, help me!"
Shekh took a step back. It was a voice that didn't sound human, devoid of emotion, like a cassette tape repeatedly played on a cheap radio broadcast at the edge of a village.
Xiaoyun is dead; something is controlling her.
Shekh kicked aside the fleeing Xiaoyun and frowned as he looked down into the corridor.
The corridor had changed drastically, with the tangled red lines constantly pulsating. She discovered that the walls of all the rooms on the third floor had turned into a translucent gel, cloudy like an overblown piece of chewing gum.
In the alienated corridor, a ring of rotting flesh replaced the original doorway, and a red membrane grew out of the rotting flesh, forming a "door" that separated the corridor from the stairs.
There was nothing outside the door, only silence and a blood-red expanse.
