Chapter 70 Why Won't You Sleep With Me

Sherhee changed into a floral print dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves and stood in the crowd. Passersby would always take a second look at her because she was blindfolded.

Most people glance at her quickly, and only a very few stare at her for a while, mostly out of curiosity.

The autumn night was cool, and Shi Jinzhe originally wanted to take her to eat something easy to digest, but she saw the night market full of delicious food outside the window and immediately wanted to get out of the car.

The night market at 10 pm is lively but not crowded, making it the perfect time for a late-night snack.

As they walked past stall after stall, Sher's mouth never stopped, and Shi Jinzhe's hands were never idle.

He brought the freshly squeezed juice in his hand to Shekh's lips, saying, "You've eaten a bit too much of a variety of things. We can come again tomorrow."

"We're having beef hot pot and fish slices tomorrow."

"You're quite good at making arrangements." Shi Jinzhe threw the empty juice into the trash can and bought her two roast duck wraps.

After Sher finished eating, Shi Jin went to a shop on the street to get a bowl of rice porridge and shrimp cakes to go.

Next to the porridge shop was a 24-hour bookstore, but business was dismal, with a "Room for Rent" sign hanging on the wall. While waiting for my bus, I glanced through the window at a book titled "New Scientific Snake Farming Techniques."

He went into the bookstore, picked up that book, and there was another one below, "The Breeding and Raising Techniques of Commercial Snakes".

The shop owner lay on a recliner by the door: "That bookshelf you took is three books for twenty yuan. You can add another one to your cart. Those are books that nobody buys, so they're on sale."

Shi Jin rummaged through the books but couldn't find any other books about snakes, so he just picked up a random book called "The Book of Enlightenment".

When he paid the bill, the owner noticed that he had taken two books about snakes, so he took out a beautifully packaged book called "The Snake Museum" from the bookshelf.

"If you're interested in snakes, you can check this out. It's a popular science book published by the National Museum Library, and it's quite good."

The book had several snake images printed on its cover, which Sheikh liked. She picked up the book and said, "I'll buy it."

The boss chuckled, "That'll be 520 in total."

Shi Jinzhe pointed to the book "The Museum of Snakes" that Sheh was holding in his arms: "...How much is this one?"

"This book is priced at 680, so selling it to you for 500 isn't expensive at all." The shopkeeper took out his phone to show him the price on the official flagship store. "It's only 20 yuan cheaper than mine, I'm not ripping you off."

He looked at Shi Jinzhe very sincerely, and then asked him to look at Shehe.

Her eyes seemed to say, "She can't see anymore, so please do her a favor. She's so pitiful!"

Shekh picked up the book beside him and silently looked at Shi Jinzhe.

“…Alright then.” Shi Jin paid the money.

He suspected there was a reason the store was going out of business: it was letting "blind" people buy books.

A car honked its horn on the side of the road, and the two got into the car, arriving home at midnight.

After finishing his meal, Shi Jinzhe took out a quilt and pillow from the cupboard, preparing to make his bed and go to sleep.

Shekh sat on the bed watching his movements and asked, "Aren't you sleeping on the bed?"

"You go to sleep."

"But I want to sleep with you."

Shi Jinzhe lowered his head, straightened the blanket, and remained silent, pretending not to hear.

"Can't I?" Shekh slid off the bed, pressed his tail against Shi Jinzhe's hand, and took over Shi Jinzhe's sleeping spot, asking him.

“That’s not appropriate.” Shi Jinzhe, who was half-kneeling on the ground, straightened up upon hearing this: “The situation is special inside the dungeon, but now that we’re out, I can’t continue doing this.”

"Why not?" Sheikh asked.

Sleeping against the Shi Jin Zhe is like sleeping in a quiet and secluded forest, very pleasant, especially on the night she slept deeply, she even experienced extreme relaxation.

The signals her body was sending were not wrong; Shi Jinzhe had something special about her, and she wanted more of that feeling.

She leaned forward: "Just because you say it's not suitable, does that mean I can't do what I want to do?"

Shi Jinzhe didn't know how to explain it to her. Shehe understood these things; she just didn't understand human ethics and morality.

"That's right... Men and women who aren't related shouldn't sleep in the same bed."

Shekh shook the tip of its tail: "I am a snake."

“You can turn into a human.” Shi Jinzhe grasped her hand, while her other hand, which had been pinned down by the snake tail, was now pinned under her legs.

He withdrew his hand, gesturing for Shekh to see for himself. "I can't assume it's something that can be done just because you don't care about these things, nor can I assume it's reasonable or can be continued just because it's been done before. Do you understand?"

Shekh stared at his legs for a long time without saying a word.

The room fell silent. Shi Jinzhe suddenly thought of a question: Shehe wanted to sleep with him because of his unique scent. But what if he met someone who smelled even better than him?

She really seemed like she could abandon him for her own happiness.

Just as Shi Jinzhe was about to say something more, Shekh spoke up, "I understand."

"...Good that you understand." He swallowed the words he was about to say, "I can't say this to anyone else."

Sheh withdrew her hand, which transformed back into a snake tail. She returned to the bed, patted the other side of the bed, and said, "Come up and sleep."

Shi Jinzhe was stunned, wondering if he had misheard: "...Can you tell me what you understand?"

"I can't sleep with you."

"Then why did you let me go up there??"

“I understand. What does that have to do with what I’m doing? Murder doesn’t conform to your human morality, and aren’t you doing it too?”

Schech refuted her with his own logic, but was completely defeated: "If you can do it, why can't I?"

"I didn't kill you, but what you said will be bad for you."

“You can’t hurt me, and I’m a snake.” Shekh looked at him with a puzzled expression, wondering if there was something wrong with him.

Even if Shi Jinzhe couldn't see her eyes, he could tell from Shehe's backward leaning back and looking him up and down that she was saying, "Are you sick?"

He picked up the water from the bedside table and poured it down to calm his mind.

It's hard to say, and you can't beat them in a fight. Even if you try to uphold your basic moral principles, you'll still be questioned.

"Wait a moment."

He took out his phone and started searching for bizarre incidents, then played them for her one by one.

Shekh frowned, finding it increasingly unbelievable. "A lizard?"

"Yes, it still won't turn into a human."

"Car exhaust pipe? Is that the car we're in?"

"That's right, that's the one, not even alive."

"So you call yourselves men because you think about your lower bodies before you even consider being human?"

"...I'm thinking about how to behave first, but you won't let me."

Shi Jin turned off his phone screen. "There's even more you don't understand, so even if you're a snake..."

What are you going to do to me?

"I won't do it."

"Then what are you afraid of?" Shekh asked repeatedly. "If you don't have this idea, why don't you sleep with me?"

...
