Chapter 73 Strange People

It was a bit late when I got back to my neighborhood.

The two ran into a resident from the same building in the elevator; she was an older woman walking her dog.

A murder had occurred in this building, so few people go out after 7 p.m. Shi Jinzhe never expected to run into a neighbor at almost 10 p.m.

The aunt picked up the puppy with its tail between its legs and started chatting familiarly: "I've seen you and your girlfriend several times. Is her leg better?"

"Um...yes."

"That's great! I've seen you take her to do rehabilitation exercises in the neighborhood every evening, and the recovery is going very well."

Shekh couldn't understand what she was saying, but she didn't sense any malice from the aunt, so she suppressed her aura.

The auntie held the puppy that had regained its vitality and kept talking, "Since you moved in, there haven't been any strange noises in this house, not even once. Several families have moved back in over the past few days, and I even dare to go out now."

Shi Jinzhe smiled politely, knowing he couldn't reply to that.

"If you have the money, buy this house while it's cheapest, before the price goes up..."

"Auntie, you've arrived."

"Oh dear, I almost missed my seat. I'll be going now." The aunt chuckled twice while holding the puppy, and turned back as she exited the elevator: "You should really consider what I said."

After she left, Shekh asked, "Isn't this house something no one else wants to live in besides us?"

"So she's telling us to buy. Once people move in, the property prices might gradually rise back up."

"I didn't sense any malice; I thought she was a good person." Shekh regretted it a little; he should have known better than to conceal his aura.

"No one is perfect; she just thinks more about herself."

The elevator doors opened, and Shi Jinzhe took out his key. As he opened the door, he noticed a small "x" drawn on the white wall next to him.

“Someone has been here.” Shekh sensed the presence of a stranger, and lingered for quite some time.

There was no one living here, and the only smells were from her and Shi Jinzhe. The sudden appearance of other people's smells was like a sheep entering a pack of wolves, very conspicuous.

Is anyone home?

Shekh shook his head and said, "No, it's only at the door."

Shi Jinzhe then opened the door and entered the room. "I don't know what this person's purpose is. We'll install two surveillance cameras tomorrow."

Visiting a haunted house doesn't mean the murderer is returning to the same place, and since the two dead were fighting each other, there shouldn't be a murderer.

If it's not about the house, then it's most likely about the person. Shekh is unfamiliar with the area and doesn't know anyone, so it's probably about him.

After locking the security door, Shi Jinzhe carefully checked the doors and windows again before going to bed, making sure everything was in order before returning to bed.

Sheh took his phone and played with it by herself. When she saw a message pop up, she returned the phone to Shi Jinzhe.

"There is information."

Shi Jinzhe received the message and was surprised to find it was from the person who had bought points last time.

[101,000 points, are you still selling?]

"Is this person going to buy points again?" Sheh recognized the first five words: money, numbers, points, all of which referred to her big house.

"Yes, he wants to buy it, but I'm planning to use an auction system to trade the points, with the highest bidder winning."

Shi Jinzhe did not reply to this person, but put up a bid with three points, starting at 100,000.

[Shoubigu] was auctioned for 4.2 million. Among the bidders, he saw the person who bought points again.

He deleted the message and handed the phone to Sheikh, saying, "Don't stay up too late."

"knew."

.

The night was deep and quiet.

The towering building, with its lights off, left a cold, hard silhouette in the darkness.

On the first floor, two men furtively unlocked the lobby door; one wore a black mask, and the other a black fisherman's hat.

The man wearing a black mask was carrying a snakeskin bag, which was bulging in various places and contained live animals.

"Is this really the building? Even at midnight, there should be at least one light on in this building."

The fisherman in the hat opened his phone and showed him a picture of the door with an "X" on it. "This is it. I heard this building is haunted, that's why no one turns on the lights."

"Shouldn't the lights be on?" The man in the black mask frowned, finding it taboo to talk about ghosts in the middle of the night. "Never mind, let's get back to work. It's not easy to sneak into this neighborhood."

Two men entered the elevator and pressed the button for the 18th floor.

The elevator slowly ascended, the red numbers steadily increasing. The two people remained silent, both feeling uneasy under the stark white light.

Having safely reached the 18th floor, the fisherman in the hat breathed a sigh of relief. This thing is susceptible to psychological suggestion; you scare yourself, but actually nothing's wrong.

Finding the door marked with an "x", the man in the black mask took out a key.

He gently inserted the key given to him by his employer, turned the lock, and heard a slight click from the latch. The locked door was turned three times in quick succession, and the security door was opened.

The door was opened a crack, and in the dark room with the curtains drawn, two long shadows appeared in the entryway under the light of the hallway lamp.

As the lights went out, the fisherman's hat faintly heard a strange rustling sound the moment he closed the door.

He asked in a whisper, "Did you hear any strange noises?"

"No, right?"

He was wearing a black mask and carrying a snakeskin bag. He tiptoed around looking for the master bedroom, but after taking a few steps and adjusting to the darkness, he realized that there was no master bedroom in the house at all.

However, there is no master bedroom, but a large bed is placed very clearly, and the blankets on it are bulging, indicating that someone is lying on it.

He tiptoed toward the bed, untying the snakeskin bag as he went.

The fisherman's hat followed behind him. He wondered if he was just imagining things, but he did hear a strange rustling sound. When he turned around, he saw nothing.

I took several steps in a row, and it was the same every time. There was a sound, but I couldn't find where it was coming from.

The thought that this house is haunted...

Could it be...?

He was about to ask the black mask again when a cold hand suddenly brushed against the back of his neck.

In an instant, the hairs on the fisherman's hat stood on end.

It was a woman's hand; he could feel it. Someone had definitely touched him!

Is this house really haunted?

He wanted to call out to the man in the black mask, but a blurry, lurking black figure quickly passed behind him, its gait...

It was clearly not walking on legs, it was more like floating...

A banded krait, mixed in with a group of non-venomous snakes, was placed in a snakeskin bag. The black-masked creature was oblivious to the approaching danger.

He put on his gloves and prepared to dump all the snakes onto the bed.

"I don't know what kind of deep-seated hatred this is, one wasn't enough, they had to do several more."

Afraid of encountering a snake, he deliberately stood far away and bent over to release it. Just then, something cool slid across his ankle.

The man wearing a black mask thought it was just his imagination and didn't take it seriously.

But as he tried to continue, his ankle was bumped again…

A strange sound came from behind him, and his ankles were suddenly tightly wrapped, and he was lifted upside down in an instant.

In the upside-down world, he saw a figure walking towards him.
