In the pouring rain, Shi Jinzhe steadily drove over a steep slope.
The driver wanted to take the opportunity to learn some driving skills, and after observing them, he found that their driving habits were not much different.
Why is it so bumpy when I drive it?
"You can drive slower."
There are no traffic lights here, so drivers can drive however they want; as long as they dare to go, that's all the road.
Shi Jin asked as he folded the car, "What kind of place is Dota City? How long does it take to get there?"
"It's a small shelter. If nothing unexpected happens, it will take a week to get there. The main problem is that their city's power system has broken down, and they don't know how much longer they can use the oxygen, so they need rescue."
"Can the city's power system be repaired if it breaks down? How many rescue teams are there?"
"I heard there might be a few other rescue teams, but the power system's programming is too old; none of the rescuers should be able to maintain it."
The driver, not needing to drive, simply took out a handful of off-white, high-protein jerky from the cabinet next to him as a snack. "Programmers and engineers are valuable talents; they won't be allowed to leave the shelter."
"If it can't be repaired, then what's the point of going to rescue people?" Shi Jinzhe immediately sensed something was off about those words.
Even small shelters can house tens of thousands of people. If no one can maintain them, the city will remain paralyzed and exposed to danger.
Furthermore, given the environment, residents in the shelter certainly cannot easily go out. Putting aside the dangers, it's obvious that there won't be enough oxygen supply equipment.
Since they couldn't repair the power system or transfer a large number of people, this rescue operation was completely pointless.
"What is your real purpose?"
The driver choked, thinking to himself that the wandering ghost occupying this body was really clever; if it were the original one, it would have been fooled long ago.
He hesitated before saying, "It's about finding someone, a boy named Vian. I heard he can communicate with the radiation monsters and control them."
"So this operation is using the guise of rescue to seize someone who can benefit you." Having listened to the entire conversation, Shekh came to this conclusion.
The driver was a little intimidated by her, so he nodded obediently and didn't try anything funny.
Has anyone ever seen Vian commanding a radiation monster?
The driver paused, thought for a moment, and replied, "I didn't, but I heard that higher-ups saw the video, so they told us to bring him back."
Shekh gave a cryptic twitch of his lips after hearing this.
It turns out that multiple groups of people were deceiving each other.
The benefits of taming the radiated monsters are significant. If there were such a boy, Dota City would have a much stronger bargaining chip. The city's administrators would surely understand the consequences of throwing this temptation out. Once these rescue teams arrive, all that awaits him is the dismantling of Dota City by various stakeholders.
This was a fake rescue, but a fake rescue wouldn't warrant the system sending players, so there must be other secrets in Dota City.
The driver didn't understand what she was sneer about, and fearing he might say the wrong thing, he decided to remain silent unless they asked him questions.
He looked out the window and watched as the car descended the last steep slope and returned to flat ground, only to be stopped by Shi Jin.
The driver's heart skipped a beat, and he heard him say:
"Here's your car back, you can still drive it from now on, but remember to be available whenever I call."
"Ah...you're not going to drive?"
The driver had never ridden in such a stable car before. He was scared, but suddenly he also felt a little reluctant to give up this feeling.
Shi Jinzhe: "I won't open it anymore, here you go."
He had already traversed the most bumpy downhill section, so there was no need to worry about bumping into Schechner again; there was no need for him to drive himself from there.
Shi Jinzhe gave up the driver's seat, and amidst the driver's bewildered gaze, he and Shekh drove off one after the other.
Inside the train carriage.
Upon seeing the driver's cab door open, everyone's eyes turned to it.
The feeling of being carried along is so good that it activates the admiration for strength in some people's hearts, giving rise to some voyeuristic desires and some ulterior motives.
The female player who initially observed the two through the reflection in the car window stepped forward and asked:
“My name is Xu Ying. The uniformed player who stole the ray gun occupied a new compartment without even asking you guys. He also seemed emotionally unstable and not suitable to stay in the car with us. To be on the safe side, I think we should take care of him. I'd like to ask you two what you think: kill him or not?”
Shi Jinzhe glanced at the others; some had lowered their heads, while others looked at him and Sheh, waiting for them to speak.
“No need to ask us.” He walked past Xu Ying, his tone calm. “You’re a player too; you can decide for yourself what you want to do.”
Without information exchange or any incentive, he wasn't very interested in actively leading others in the game and didn't want to take on other people's responsibilities.
Xu Ying's suggestion made some sense, but with Sher there, he could handle any unexpected situation in this round of the game.
If Xu Ying felt unsafe, then she would do it herself and stop setting up these roundabout language traps, using him and Shekh as pawns.
He could kill directly if he wanted to; there was no need for him to indirectly make the final decision based on Xu Ying's suggestion. It would only cause him unnecessary trouble and bring him no benefit whatsoever.
Xu Ying bit her lip. It would be a lie to say she wasn't disappointed. She had hoped to flatter him to achieve her goal, but Shi Jinzi wouldn't fall for it.
She went to Schech again, still trying to persuade him: "I think you should consider it; that gun is too dangerous."
"You want me to kill people, and you also want me to melt down guns?"
Xu Ying was a little embarrassed by her bluntness; some things, when said so directly, lose their meaning.
"This is for the safety of everyone on the bus. Even if you can revive someone with points, if the gun is actually pointed at someone, the experience of death will leave a psychological scar."
"If your gun melts, how are you going to deal with the radiation monster? Or are you expecting someone here to rescue you? If we don't rescue you, are you going to blame us?"
The radiation gun has side effects. Everyone heard the driver say that, and now nobody wants to get close to those two guns. But it's even more dangerous that the radiation gun is in the hands of an emotionally unstable person.
They're unwilling to take risks, so they just want to flatter them and let them take the lead. They're dreaming.
Even if there is no danger, she is not willing to be ordered around or used by others.
Shekh passed by Xu Ying just like Shi Jinzhe, saying, "He poses no threat to me, so this is not something I should be troubled by."
Xu Ying looked unwell, but she couldn't say anything else.
Shi Jinzhe, who was walking in front, casually picked a new cubicle. After Shehe came in, a severed hand appeared out of thin air in his hand.
His large, bronze-colored hand, wrinkled and somewhat withered, was held in Shi Jinzhe's hand in a gesture resembling a handshake.
He pressed the severed side of his palm against the wall, and then, as if the hand came to life, it gripped the broken hand and rotated it counterclockwise by fifteen degrees.
A door number marked 602 flashed on the wall, and a door appeared on the wall of the cubicle.
Shi Jinzhe pushed open the door: "I just remembered I had this. Come in and rest."
He had too many items in his backpack and ring; he had really forgotten that he had a safe house.
