Chapter 19 Charity Activities (14)

In the third room on the left, Huang Mao was lying on the bed fantasizing.

He punched the baseball cap. "What's there to be afraid of? That woman might have the ability to see ghosts. Don't be such a coward. As long as you don't make a sound while you're doing it, she won't know who you are."

"And that guy...?"

The man in the baseball cap was really tempted by the half of Sher's face that had been exposed, but he was still a little worried when he thought of Shi Jinzhe.

"Just kill him." The blond-haired man grinned. "There's no such thing as true love. He's only fawning over this woman because she's capable. Don't worry, he's definitely not a threat. He'll be easy to deal with."

The blond-haired man was smug; if the lights hadn't been off, the lewd expression on his face would have made anyone physically uncomfortable.

"Knock knock—"

The knocking on the door interrupted his sweet dream, and the blond-haired man frowned.

Why would someone be knocking on the door at this time, or was the person knocking actually a person?

He took out his protective gear, not intending to react at all. This house was haunted, so he absolutely couldn't open the door. If he couldn't hear anything, the thing outside might have left on its own.

But things didn't go as planned; he heard a click.

The blond-haired man and the man in the baseball cap exchanged a glance, then immediately looked towards the door, their pupils suddenly contracting.

Huang Mao's eyes had adjusted to the darkness, and he could clearly see the doorknob turning downwards.

creak—

The door, which was clearly locked, was opened a crack, and a cold wind blew in through the dark crack, making Huang Mao's hair stand on end.

He quickly bought a yellow talisman for exorcising ghosts in the points mall and carried it with him along with the amulet for double protection. Then he gripped the prop knife in his hand tightly.

The door was slowly pushed open, and a black silhouette stood in the doorway, entering the bedroom in an eerie manner.

The blond-haired man stared wide-eyed, not daring to relax for a moment, until he could clearly see a pair of eyes covered by ribbons and a head of curly, dark hair. Only then did he suddenly loosen his clenched fist.

But before he could even relax, he suddenly sensed something was wrong. How did she get in? And why was her walking style so strange…

Next to the blond-haired man, the man in the baseball cap was chattering, unaware that he had bitten his tongue. As if provoked, he stammered, "She...she...snake..."

Yellow Hair looked down in the direction he was pointing, and a chill ran down his spine again.

Beneath the skirt, long, layered belly scales stretched out, and a purple snake tail curved and extended outside the door. The Shekh man didn't move, but the tail on the ground kept retracting into the doorway.

The snake's tail climbed up to the door, and she used the tip of her tail to hook the doorknob, closing the door again.

"You..." Before the blond-haired man could finish speaking, his sternum was suddenly tightened around the snake's tail. He didn't even see when the tail had come.

His shoulder was dislocated, and he cried out in pain. The bone broke due to the compression and pierced his lungs, abruptly stopping his cries for help.

The person in the baseball cap jumped off the bed in a panic and ran outside with big strides.

He was so anxious that sweat was pouring down his forehead. Damn it, how could something like this be in a dungeon?!

Just a second before he was about to grab the doorknob, he felt a sharp pain in his chest, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and looked down in disbelief.

The snake's tail pierced through his chest, and the baseball cap bounced like a spring before falling straight backward.

He had a large hole in his chest, and the last thing he saw was the door splattered with his own blood.

Shekh didn't look at the two of them much, but went into the bathroom, turned on the shower, and silently rinsed his tail with water.

These two people are so dirty and disgusting.

Just as she was washing her tail, Shi Jinzhe was lying on the bed counting sheep.

Shekh isn't one to procrastinate; this is enough time for her to get things done, and I won't have to wait too long.

He closed his eyes and counted exactly sixty from the moment he heard the knock on the door until now.

Shi Jinzhe silently recited in his heart: "Sixty-one sheep."

Thump.

The crisp tapping sound abruptly interrupted his counting.

"Sixty-two sheep..."

Thump.

Another knock.

Shi Jinzhe stopped counting the sheep, but did not open his eyes. Having lost his sight, his hearing and sense of touch became more sensitive.

Thump.

In the boundless darkness, the knocking sound echoed once more.

That was the sound of someone bending their fingers and tapping the door with their knuckles, one tap after another, very rhythmically. The sound came from the doorway, indicating that someone was knocking.

But Shi Jinzhe clearly knew that it wasn't Shekh. Their agreed-upon signal for opening the door was one short, two long, and then one short, a total of four times, with the intervals not being so even.

He was covered with a blanket and felt the cold air clinging to his body, realizing what was outside.

Shi Jinzhe calmed down and took a deep breath. Since they were outside, it wasn't a problem. Who knows, when Sheh came back, they might run into it head-on.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

The biting cold seeped into my bones, and the knocking echoed in every corner of the room. Shi Jinzhe kept telling himself not to be affected by what was outside.

He didn't know how long the knocking lasted, but the sound finally stopped. He didn't dare to relax, and still didn't open his eyes, lying on the bed pretending to be dead.

Knock knock.

Sure enough, Shi Jinzhe sighed inwardly, realizing he had almost been fooled.

The knocking, slightly more urgent than before, continued incessantly, as if surroundting Shi Jinzhe with a stereo system. He curled his fingers, feeling that the sound was more muffled than before, as if the knocking was coming from a different location.

Knock knock knock.

Suddenly, there was a knocking sound from the wardrobe door directly opposite the foot of the bed, and Shi Jinzhe tensed up instantly.

Why did the wardrobe door suddenly make a sound?

Knock knock knock.

The wardrobe door rang again, and he confirmed that he was not hallucinating. The sound of the wardrobe door rang meant that the ghost had actually been in the room all along!

How did it knock? Was it hiding in the closet? Or was it crouching at the foot of his bed?

If I were inside the wardrobe, would it keep peeking at me through the crack? If I opened my eyes, would we still meet its gaze?

Knock knock knock knock.

The wardrobe door vibrated incessantly, and the knocking sound, which could not be ignored, turned into a banging sound. The entire room, from the bedroom door to the bathroom door and then to the wardrobe door, was rattling.

It felt like someone was constantly moving around inside the room, knocking as they went.

Shi Jinzhe prayed in his heart that Sheh would come back soon.

His exposed skin was soaked by the cold air. The more awake he became, the clearer his senses became. He was powerless to resist and could only remain unchanged in the face of all changes.

The sound continued for quite a while, and gradually, Shi Jinzhe realized that the ghost seemed to be just knocking on the wood and had no intention of harming him.

Realizing this, he gradually constructed the ghost's movement trajectory in his mind based on the specific location of the sound.

Its movements were somewhat hurried, circling around the room as if it were looking for something.

Shi Jinzhe couldn't tell how long he had been listening until the agreed signal came from outside the door, at which point the knocking sound disappeared instantly and could no longer be heard.

He threw off the covers and strode to the door. As soon as he opened the door, he was startled by the thick blackness behind Shekh and took a step back.

He pulled Sheikh into the house: "I thought you would be back soon."

As he closed the door, light returned to the corridor, and a beam of light shone through the small window overhead. Only then did he realize that it was already daylight.

Sheh took out a letter wrapped in a black plastic bag, handed it to Shi Jinzhe without saying a word, withdrew her hand, and went back into the bathroom.

Gaining her trust is a secondary matter; she promised to send someone to find Lin Xiaohe, and she will keep her word.

Thank you…

Shi Jinzhe was a little flattered. He opened the letter and noticed out of the corner of his eye that Shehe's skirt was stained with mud. After hesitating for a while, he said, "I'll find a way to buy you a new one after I leave."
