Chapter 83 Searching for the Bomb (8)

Shekh withdrew his gaze: "It's troublesome for me. Let's keep going, take the left."

Shi Jin turned into the left corridor and walked for about ten meters before the overhead lights began to flicker.

The passageway was eerily quiet. He walked against the wall and suddenly felt a pain in his calf. At the same time, the air grew cold and damp, making his skin ache.

"Is that the one who uses ghosts here?"

"It's another ghost, put me down."

Shekh was placed on the ground, and he bent down and gave Shi Jin a push on the side of his broken calf.

The infant, with bluish-black skin and only the whites of his eyes visible, was pushed and rolled on the ground. He raised his hand to straighten his head, which had been tilted to one side, and glared at Shekh with a pout.

“It’s not an evil spirit; it has reason.” Shekh lifted the little devil up. “Did your master send you to monitor him?”

The little devil was grabbed by the back of his neck, and his fate was choked twice.

"When the time is up, point that mirror prop here."

Shi Jinzhe pointed the mirror at the bottom of Shekh's hand, and the image of a two-year-old child gradually emerged from the shards of the mirror.

Brown hair in curly curls, a blue bow tied at the collar, rosy cheeks, and big, dark eyes glaring at Shekh, her short legs kicking back and forth in the air.

"Is that the guy who just hugged my leg? He's actually quite cute."

Sheh looked at the little cub in her hand with a deep look. Its head was almost falling off, and it kept baring its little sharp teeth at her. Where was the cuteness in that?

"blind."

"...I couldn't see him anyway."

Shi Jinzhe couldn't refute it; Shekh seemed to be cursing him, but it also seemed to be the truth.

He stared at the child in the mirror, who happened to be looking over as well. The child reached out his arms to hug him, as if Sheikh's hand was some kind of abyssal clutches that he had to escape, and he struggled fiercely.

"It doesn't seem like he wanted to hurt me, it's more like..."

"Like looking for food." Shekh was all too familiar with the little brat's expression; wasn't that the same expression she made when she wanted to drink blood?

"He wants to drink your blood."

Shi Jinzhe took a step back and moved away from the child.

Shekh threatened him, "Who knows, they might even want to eat your flesh."

He covered his neck: "...Have you thought that way too?"

Shekh stared intently at him, gave Shi Jinzhe a cryptic smile, and only after startling him did he look back at the little devil in his hand.

"It doesn't speak and doesn't want to attack anyone. I really don't know what use such a tiny ghost is."

The squealing little devil became even more excited and made a gesture as if to bite her, but his movement froze as an irresistible pull suddenly came from his body.

Sheh vaguely heard a voice behind him say "come back," and the little devil vanished from her hand in a flash.

The reflection in the mirror vanished as well; the little devil's arrival was strange, and his departure was equally inexplicable.

With the crisis resolved, Shekh returned to Shijinzhe's body.

But this little incident didn't make Shi Jinzhe relax. Shekh was one thing, but why did even the ghosts want to drink his blood?

"You drank my blood twice. Did you feel anything special?"

“It’s delicious.” Shekh recalled for a moment, his throat bobbing. “I don’t know how to describe it, but it’s like spring rain washing over your body, flowers blooming around you, telling you that it’s time for the hibernating snake to wake up.”

Shi Jin paused for a moment, then couldn't help but laugh, "Have you been secretly listening to some literary books again?"

Now not only does it talk more, it also uses modifiers; a snake that has read books is indeed different.

"I've only listened to a few episodes of the audiobook you bought, 'The Book of Enlightenment,' because listening to audiobooks is too slow."

Shekh's hand, which was resting on the back of Shi Jinzhe's neck, tucked into his shirt collar. "Can you read to me?"

She only knows a limited number of characters, and sometimes when she points to the wrong place, it takes her a long time to get back to the correct one. She gets tired of hearing those readings too often and wants to try something different.

"You can read a few to me every day, not too long. I can ask if I don't understand. You should be more helpful than the voice on the phone. I want a gentle voice to help me sleep."

Regardless of what Shi Jinzhe thought, Shekh made arrangements for him and even made his own requests.

"We read to each other for half an hour before bed. When you're reading, don't turn the lamp on too brightly. If I fall asleep, you should read for another five minutes. That way, I'll sleep better."

It's best to read two short stories and one long one, leaving the long one for last. Reading continuously won't bother me, but with the short ones, I might get distracted halfway through.

After saying that, she asked Shi Jinzhe tentatively, "Is it okay?"

Even as Shi Jin was still processing her request, hearing her ask "Is that okay?" gave him a very absurd feeling.

Instead of thinking about whether these requirements could be met, he was surprised that Sheikh had actually learned to ask himself if he could do it.

Although it's definitely not an option to say no.

He replied, "Okay."

Back on the second floor, Shi Jin walked through the long corridor for a long time before arriving at another terminal.

There were drag marks on the ground, the check-in counter was destroyed, and there was a faint smell of gunpowder in the air. A battle had recently taken place here.

Shi Jinzhe: "Without faction notification, it wasn't the brown faction that died."

[The brown faction player, Duan Yuanyuan, has been killed.]

"..."

Shekh scoffed, "You'd better shut up."

As soon as he finished speaking, the sound of shattering glass suddenly rang out on the first floor.

Her face fell. "Trashy game."

A strange rumbling sound echoed from the corner on the first floor.

A middle-aged man covered in blood struggled to climb out of the elevator, which was halfway up. He had only taken a few steps when another man wielding a chainsaw emerged from the elevator shaft.

A trembling, cold light mingled with a buzzing sound as the chainsaw-wielding man slashed wildly forward without any strategy.

He yelled at the middle-aged man, "Go ahead and run! Why aren't you running anymore! Aren't you so tough?!"

Shi Jinzhe hid behind a pillar on the second floor and heard everything the chainsaw man said clearly.

He seemed completely unafraid of being discovered, his only thought being to kill the middle-aged man in front of him.

The chainsaw man was insane. Because of his thin build, when he glared at people, his reckless expression matched most people's imagination of a killer.

Blood seeped from between his teeth. Several times he nearly caught up with the middle-aged man, but his movements with the chainsaw were clumsy, leaving him with numerous wounds.

The middle-aged man slipped and fell, his face showing a mixture of fear and shock. His hair, stained with blood and sweat, was matted, and a patch of his gray suit was soaked.

"Please let me go! I really didn't mean it. I only did it because someone told me to. I really didn't know things would turn out like this!"

"You don't know?" The chainsaw man increased the power of the chainsaw. "You think you can just give me the card because you don't know? Have we ever had a grudge?"

As the chainsaw drew ever closer, the middle-aged man felt as if the bones in his body had gone on strike, and he couldn't stand up no matter what he did.

Hiding behind a pillar on the second floor, Shi Jinzhe took out a mirror and was surprised to find that the two people were both from the brown camp.

Hearing the two talking, he did nothing but quietly watch the blood and gore flying everywhere caused by the chainsaw.

Watch the chainsaw man chop and curse at the same time:

"If you didn't know what was going on here, now that you do, experience it for yourself!"
