After she had made enough noise, she hugged him tightly and slept soundly until sunrise.
Because he missed this big bed, Sheh closed his eyes and continued to lie there. After half an hour, he couldn't lie there any longer and got up. He picked up his clothes from the bedside table, tied the belt, and got out of bed. Then someone grabbed his wrist from behind.
Shi Jinzhe didn't even open his eyes, and mumbled, "Where are we going?"
"Look at the snake."
"Oh." Shi Jin let go and went back to sleep.
At seven o'clock in the morning, the well-lit landscape room welcomed its third snake.
Shekh opened the side door to see how the two snakes were doing.
In the high-ceilinged space of over 100 square meters, the original Burmese python was coiled alone on a tree. It had climbed quite high and was a nimble fat creature. Sometimes it would break over, but its condition was much better than yesterday. When she came in, it didn't even flick its tongue. It adapted very quickly.
The juvenile golden python was sunbathing by the puddle, just as carefree as the others. Shekh stayed with it for a while, then they ran into the caretaker who came to feed it.
He was in his forties and was specially hired by Shi Jinzhe. He was very experienced in raising snakes and his daily duties included feeding and cleaning.
The caretaker knew that working for a wealthy family only required quiet and minimal talking. He noticed that Sherhe didn't seem surprised in the landscaping room. Since he kept snakes, he must like them; there was no need to say anything.
The keeper greeted Shekh and first tried feeding him thawed dead food to avoid startling the snake, which was suddenly in a new environment.
Shekh observed quietly. Although the first feeding was of inanimate objects, the keeper was very experienced and would shake the fork to attract the snake's attention.
It's clear that Shi Jinzhe cares a lot about these two snakes; he didn't just keep them to make her happy, he had already taken care of all the follow-up matters.
Sheh didn't disturb the caretaker's work. He went back to the second floor and opened the door to find that Jinzhe had already gotten up and was changing his clothes.
Aren't you going to sleep?
"I've been away for over two months. I'll just go to the company to make a brief appearance and surprise the employees. Do you want to come with me?"
"No, it's no fun." Shekh had been there a few times, but he just played around in the rest room by himself. He preferred to stay home and lie down.
"Okay, I'll be back at noon. Wait for me to come back for lunch."
Shehe said goodbye to him, and before parting, asked Shi Jin if he could bring her some pastries from Chi Yu's family if he came back.
"Okay, but taking a detour will make me a little late. If I'm not back by then, don't wait for me."
"I won't go hungry, goodbye."
Sheh saw him to the door, and after he left, she flopped onto the sofa and used her phone to play white noise from a thunderstorm to help her fall asleep. Forty minutes later, she yawned and fell asleep.
Sleeping is something that happens in the blink of an eye; time flies by, perfectly replacing waiting time.
When Sheh woke up again, it was really raining outside. The rain was pouring down, and the windows were covered in water. She pressed her phone; it was 13:42. Shi Jinzhe had sent a message at 12:30 saying he would be late and not to wait.
Sher sat up and walked straight to the restaurant. Lunch had been prepared long ago and was served. She started eating as soon as it was served. She didn't feel lonely eating alone at all. Her appetite and mood were no different from usual.
When she had almost finished eating, she asked the chef to make another serving of her favorite asparagus stir-fried with beef and crab meat lion's head meatballs, so she could come back and eat them later.
At 2:30 p.m., the heavy rain turned into a moderate rain. Sher held a book and sat in the living room studying.
Around three o'clock, the sound of tires running through water could be heard outside, and Shi Jinzhe came in carrying a large box of cakes.
He left the umbrella outside the door, carrying the warm pastries and cakes in his hands. He took a few steps inside and immediately noticed two legs dangling from the sofa.
Shi Jinzhe stopped and asked, "You're back late. Have you eaten?"
"Hmm." Sheikh leaned back on the sofa, looking behind him, his hair still a little messy. "Is it hard to walk in the rain?"
"There were some. I saw that it was getting late, so I went a little further to the dessert shop. You like the strawberry cake at the dessert shop in the forest park, so I bought some of everything."
Sher's limp body sprang to her feet. She hadn't eaten for a while and had forgotten that this dessert shop's strawberry desserts were delicious, with no substitutes. Only their strawberry cake was the best.
The beautifully packaged cake box was opened, and Schechner randomly opened one; it was a strawberry cheesecake.
"Here's a treat for you." She forked a piece of strawberry and fed it to him.
Shi Jinzhe nodded earnestly and praised, "It's delicious, you can have it."
"Have you not eaten yet? I had two really delicious dishes for lunch, come and eat."
"Stay with me."
Sheh picked up a piece of cake and sat down with him in the restaurant to eat. While chatting casually with Shi Jinzhe without looking at him, she asked, "Is my income stable?"
"It's stable, very stable. You can spend it however you want."
"That's good." Shekh was delighted and generously gave him a strawberry-flavored kiss, leaving a little cream on his cheek.
Before he wiped it, Sheikh gave him another kiss. “I read a very interesting story today. I’ll tell it to you before you go to bed tonight.”
"This is the first time I've received this treatment. Do I still need to tell you a bedtime story?"
"Yes, I'm used to it. When I listen to other things during the day, it takes a long time to get sleepy. It's not as effective as yours."
Shi Jinzhe listened with a pleased expression and smiled freely, "You need me that much, huh?"
"...Yes, yes, we need you."
