Chapter 13 What a Big Hat

After a few days of rest, Gu Jiu's health had recovered a little and his cough was finally gone.

But my body is still very weak.

The weather was a bit hot, so I opened the window and a cool breeze blew in, bringing a hint of coolness.

Gu Jiu sat at the desk practicing calligraphy.

Qingmei stood by and served with pen and ink.

"The girl's handwriting is getting better and better."

Gu Jiu smiled faintly and said, "After so many days of nursing, I finally have some strength in my body. Naturally, my handwriting looks better than before."

Qingmei said, "Doctor Chen is truly a skilled doctor. The girl has been ill for over six months, and Doctor Chen cured her illness with just one treatment. Doctor Xu is probably a quack."

Gu Jiu smiled and said, "I don't know if Doctor Xu is a quack. But he must have made a lot of money from the mansion."

"That's what the girl said."

After Gu Jiu finished writing one, Qingmei picked up the paper covered with words and put it aside to dry, pressing it down with a paperweight.

She suddenly lowered her voice and said, "Miss, I heard that the master was resting in the upper room last night."

Gu Jiu smiled knowingly and said calmly, "It seems that the master and the mistress have reconciled."

"Isn't the girl worried?"

"Why worry?"

Qingmei said nervously: "The Madam and the Master have reconciled, so will the Madam do anything bad to the young lady?"

"You're wrong." Gu Jiu smiled and said, "It's only a matter of time before the Madam and the Master reconcile. If not today, then tomorrow. And it's a good thing that the Madam and the Master are living in harmony.

A harmonious family brings prosperity, and a peaceful home allows our father to continue to rise. When our father rises, we, his children, can rise with him.

"Let's not talk about other things. The most direct benefit is that when it comes time to get married, we'll have more options. This means we all prosper together and suffer together, understand?"

"Why did the girl suddenly bring up marriage?"

Qingmei was a grown-up girl after all, so she was inevitably shy when it came to marriage. Her cheeks were already flushed, and she felt very ashamed.

Gu Jiu smiled and said, "Marriage is a matter of time, so it's not wrong to plan early."

Qingmei asked, "Miss, were you serious just now?"

The girl said seriously that it was a good thing that the mistress and the master had reconciled.

On the surface, it seems to be just as the girl said, that when one prospers, all prosper, and when one suffers, all suffer. But from the girl's perspective, shouldn't she hope that her wife will be disliked by the master?

Gu Jiu smiled, Qingmei is such a silly girl.

He put on a complete show. No matter how dissatisfied he was with Xie, at least Gu Jiu would not say it out loud.

Whether there is someone around or not, she only says what she should say and does what she should do.

Don’t say anything to vent your emotions.

Not only will it be tiring, it will also cause trouble.

She naturally wanted to stay away from such troublesome things and live her life comfortably.

She said to Qingmei, "If you think it's true, then it's true."

Besides, what she said to Qingmei was not wrong. Only when Master Gu rose through the ranks could they, as his children, have a good life.

As for the Xie family, their position is stable and no one can shake it for a while.

Why not just stay like this for now?

Let’s wait until the future and talk about it if there is a chance.

Qingmei asked curiously, "Miss, have you made any plans for marriage?"

Gu Jiu shook his head, "No! It's too early for me to get sick with my sickly body."

"Miss, please don't say that. Miss, you will definitely marry a man of your dreams in the future."

Gu Jiu's eyes moved, looking delicate and charming.

After a few days of care, her cheeks finally gained some flesh. With her delicate features, she looked much prettier than the sallow little girl she was at the beginning.

Gu Jiu said casually: "There is no such thing as an ideal husband in the world. They are all trained."

Qingmei opened her mouth wide, unable to speak.

The girl is getting more and more bold in her words. I'm not used to it.

Gu Jiu picked up the longan soup and took a few sips.

She said to Qingmei, "It's too sweet. Ask someone to put less sugar next time."

"I'll remember this."

There was a noise outside.

"Is Second Sister here? Second Sister, we are here to see you."

Led by the third girl Gu Yue, several sisters got together and came to visit Gu Jiu.

Gu Yue went into the house without waiting for notification.

Gu Jiu stood up, went to the bed, and told Qingmei, "Clear the table."

Qingmei quickly put away her pen, ink, paper and inkstone.

The table was clean and there was no sign that Gu Jiu had been sitting there practicing calligraphy before.

Gu Yue rushed into the bedroom first, followed closely by the other sisters.

"Second sister, are you feeling better?"

"Second sister, we are here to see you."

Gu Jiu lay against the head of the bed, holding a handkerchief in his hand, covering his lips, and coughing softly, looking very frail.

She said in a weak voice, "Thank you, big sister, third sister, fourth sister, and fifth sister for your concern. I am feeling better now. Qingmei, please take a seat and serve tea."

The eldest daughter, Gu Zhen, is the eldest daughter in the family.

She walked forward and held Gu Jiu's small hand. "Sister, you've lost weight! Sister has been ill for half a year, and we are all worried about you."

"Thank you for your concern, Big Sister. With Doctor Chen here, I will get better."

Gu Zhen's expression shifted slightly, her eyes moist. "I almost didn't get to see my second sister. Fortunately, I have my father, mother, and Doctor Chen."

"Yes!" Gu Jiu lowered his head.

Gu Shan sat down on the chair and said, "Second sister, I see you look better."

Gu Jiu took a handkerchief, covered half of his face, and looked at Gu Shan.

Gu Shan and Gu Yue are sisters. Gu Shan is not as bright and beautiful as Gu Yue, but her facial features are still delicate.

Gu Jiu said softly, "Really? I also feel that after taking the medicine prescribed by Doctor Chen, I feel better and don't cough as much as before."

Gu Shan smiled and said, "It seems that Second Sister is getting better. Congratulations."

"Thank you, sister, for your kind words."

Gu Yue looked around. Compared with her bedroom, this one was really shabby.

She curled her lips in obvious disdain.

Gu Shan was a little embarrassed. Her third sister was always like this, never knowing how to hide her feelings. It was so embarrassing.

Gu Yue said, "Second sister, a few days ago, you made a big scene and caused Mother to suffer. What are you thinking? Mother cares about you so much, but you don't even know how to be grateful."

What a big hat!

Gu Jiu lowered her eyebrows and smiled. She couldn't wear such a big hat.

She slowly raised her head, tears already filling her eyes, and then the tears fell one by one like beads.

"Is that what Third Sister thinks? Or do you all think so? Ahem... If I had known this would happen, I would have died.

If I die, my wife won't have to worry about anything. If I die, there's no need to bother you guys to come visit me. You say you're here to visit me, but I'm afraid you're just hoping I'll die."

Qingmei screamed in panic, "Miss, your health is very important! Doctor Chen has instructed that you need to rest and not be overly sad or happy.

"Third Miss, I kowtow to you, please give my daughter a chance to live. It is not easy for my daughter to survive Tao Hong's hands. Please have mercy on me and let my daughter live."

Qingmei knelt on the ground and kowtowed repeatedly.

Gu Jiu exclaimed in his heart, what a good girl, she is really smart.

Gu Yue panicked! She was just letting out a few words, but why were they all acting like they were dying? It was so annoying.

She pointed at Gu Jiu, "Second sister, you, you..."

Gu Jiu didn't say anything, but just burst into tears and fell on the bed, looking like he was out of breath from crying.

Gu Shan was startled and quickly stepped forward. "Third sister, quickly apologize to Second sister. Just say you were joking. We all came to visit Second sister sincerely today and have no other intentions."

The eldest girl, Gu Zhen, and the fifth girl, Gu Lin, nodded in unison.

"Yes! Second sister, please don't misunderstand us. We don't mean anything else."

Gu Jiu was still crying and couldn't stop at all.
