59 There was a person who was so good

The sound of Wen Xueyan sobbing filled the carriage. Her tears soaked Cheng Boyan's shoulder, and the warm dampness seemed to burn his heart directly.

Cheng Boyan carefully embraced her, gently patting her back with his palm: "Xueyan, stop crying." His voice was like the warm sunshine in winter, "You'll be the most beautiful bride tomorrow. If your eyes are swollen from crying, you won't be pretty."

He paused, then gently wiped away the tears on her cheek with his fingertips. "In my heart, my Xueyan will always be the most beautiful."

Upon hearing this, Wen Xueyan felt a mix of bittersweet emotions and indescribable warmth. She clenched her fist and gently pounded his shoulder, saying, "It's all your fault, it's all your fault..." She repeated, choking back tears, all her helplessness and reluctance melting into her heart.

Cheng Boyan grasped her slender wrist, looking down into her tear-filled eyes: "Yes, it's all my fault. It's all my fault, this 'incompetent ex'."

To cheer her up, Cheng Boyan made a rare joke, "It's my fault for being too slow. I couldn't be like Superman and finish the divorce case in a flash! Otherwise, I would be the one who can rightfully stand by your side and love you for the rest of my life."

Just then, Wen Xueyan's phone rang. She took it out and saw it was Xi Mingyuan. She glanced at Cheng Boyan, who immediately released her hand, gesturing for her to answer, while he considerately turned his gaze to the window.

"Hello."

"Are you off work? Should I have the driver pick you up?" Xi Mingyuan's voice came from the other end of the receiver, his tone businesslike and carrying a routine inquiry.

"I'm off work, I'll go home by myself." Wen Xueyan tried her best to keep her voice steady.

“Okay.” Xi Mingyuan didn’t say anything more.

After hanging up the phone, Cheng Boyan silently opened the car door, walked around to the driver's seat, and started the car again.

Then he asked casually, "Shall I take you home? What's the address?"

"Yunjing Mansion," Wen Xueyan announced the name of the residential complex.

Cheng Boyan paused for a moment while operating the navigation. Yunjing Mansion was one of the city's most renowned luxury residential areas, famous for its opulent large apartments. A hint of doubt flashed through his mind: "Is this a place you're temporarily renting, or is it President Xi's residence?"

“It’s President Xi’s family,” Wen Xueyan replied softly.

For a moment, Cheng Boyan was stunned again. He had never expected that Wen Xueyan had moved into Xi Mingyuan's house so quickly. Various speculations flooded his mind uncontrollably.

But he didn't ask anything. He just pursed his lips, silently gripped the steering wheel, and smoothly drove the car into the night.

Since they've already broken up, what else is there to ask?

He respected her choice, even though it broke his heart.

The only sound inside the car was the occasional beeping of the navigation system. Cheng Boyan stared intently at the road ahead, his jawline taut.

After Wen Xueyan joined Shiming Group, Xi Mingyuan suggested that she move into his home. He prepared a separate suite for her, and he could also give her a ride to work in the morning to avoid her taking the subway and affecting the baby's safety. So she moved in directly.

As they approached Yunjing Mansion, Cheng Boyan spoke again: "Should I drop you off at the entrance of the complex, or drive right downstairs?" He was still extremely considerate. "If we go downstairs, and President Xi or his friends see you, wouldn't that cause you unnecessary trouble?"

Wen Xueyan felt a warmth in her heart and shook her head: "It's okay, let's just drive downstairs."

The vehicle slowly drove towards the imposing gate of Yunjing Mansion, but the automatic barrier did not lift. A security guard in a crisp uniform stepped forward and politely raised his hand to signal.

"Hello sir, vehicles not belonging to this community are required to register a temporary license plate number and verify the address you are visiting if they are not residents of this community." The security guard's voice was professional and clear.

Wen Xueyan, sitting in the back seat, leaned forward slightly and calmly announced a series of numbers: "Building A, 1501."

Cheng Boyan finally stopped in front of the apartment building she had specified.

"We've arrived." He brought the car to a stop.

Wen Xueyan unbuckled her seatbelt and whispered, "Thank you for bringing me back."

He looked at her, his gaze deep and unwavering. "Get some rest. Hope everything goes well tomorrow."

Cheng Boyan felt that he would say "Happy Wedding" to others, but at this moment, he couldn't bring himself to say it.

Wen Xueyan pushed open the door and got out of the car.

The cold winter wind ruffled the stray hairs on her forehead, and her slender figure appeared exceptionally fragile against the backdrop of the luxurious yet cold high-rise building. She didn't turn around, but walked straight towards the glass door.

Cheng Boyan didn't leave immediately. He sat in the car, his gaze fixed on her retreating figure, until he watched her pass through the access control and her figure completely disappear around the corner of the elevator lobby.

He slowly withdrew his gaze and leaned back in his chair, the faint, comforting scent of her still lingering in the air.

The wedding took place at the hotel as scheduled the following day.

The banquet hall was packed with guests, crystal chandeliers refracted dazzling light, and the air was filled with the aroma of flowers and champagne.

Song Tiancheng sat alone at a corner table, his glass of red wine untouched. He stared intently at the entrance to the banquet hall, his face grim.

He was on a business trip when he learned of Wen Xueyan's wedding. At that moment, he abandoned all his work, ignored the company's warnings, and booked the earliest flight back.

He couldn't understand why Wen Xueyan would rather choose a wealthy young man she had only known for a short time than give her ex-husband, whom she knew well, a chance to make amends.

Ning Zhiyi and Dr. Qi watched his every move from the next table. Before the wedding, Wen Xueyan had told Ning Zhiyi that there would be security personnel, so Ning Zhiyi wasn't too worried.

As the wedding march played, all the guests stood up.

Wen Xueyan, arm in arm with Xi Mingyuan, slowly walked down the red carpet. She wore the rented haute couture wedding dress, its simple cut outlining her elegant figure, her face beneath the veil serene and beautiful.

Song Tiancheng involuntarily stood up. An impulse surged within him; he wanted to rush forward, to stop her, even if there was only a one in ten thousand chance.

Just as he took a step, a strong hand gently pressed down on his shoulder.

"Mr. Song, please wait a moment."

Song Tiancheng turned around and saw three unfamiliar men in black suits standing behind him. One of them had his hand on his shoulder; the man had a cold expression, and although his actions were polite, the strength in his hand was undeniable.

"Who are you?" Song Tiancheng asked, frowning.

“I am a security guard at the wedding,” the man replied succinctly. “For the smooth running of the ceremony, please return to your seat.”

Song Tiancheng looked around and realized that the men at his table had all stood up and were standing around him casually, but their eyes were all focused on him.

He suddenly realized something, and sat back down with a wry smile. It turned out that his appearance had been anticipated by everyone, and even the countermeasures had been arranged so meticulously.

On the stage, Xi Mingyuan was putting a wedding ring on Wen Xueyan's finger.

Song Tiancheng picked up the wine glass in front of him and downed the red wine in one gulp. The bitter liquid slid down his throat, but it was nothing compared to the feeling in his heart.

Song Tiancheng didn't expect that even when he went to the restroom, someone would follow him the whole time, and he didn't even have a chance to say a word to Wen Xueyan.

Half an hour later, under the crystal chandelier, Wen Xueyan, arm in arm with Xi Mingyuan, walked along the long table covered with a champagne-colored tablecloth, toasting the important guests.

When they arrived at Cheng Boyan's table, Cheng Boyan stood up and calmly looked at Wen Xueyan, noticing that she was holding not a glass of wine, but a glass of clear orange juice.

In such a business setting, it's rare for even a bride to completely substitute fruit juice for alcohol. Besides, Cheng Boyan had taken her out to dinner at Yinlu earlier and noticed she quite enjoyed a few sips of wine. At this moment, a faint sense of surprise and doubt crossed his mind. Was it physical discomfort, or… something else? Before he could ponder this further, Xi Mingyuan had already calmly raised his glass and laughed heartily at the table full of guests:

"Please forgive me, my wife has never liked the taste of alcohol, so today I will offer you this fruit juice instead."

This explanation both protected Wen Xueyan and demonstrated thoughtfulness. Everyone smiled and agreed, praising President Xi for his affection for his wife.

Cheng Boyan picked up the glass in front of him, which was filled with the same clear, warm water. He hadn't drunk a drop of alcohol tonight, not only to maintain absolute sobriety and control should Song Tiancheng cause trouble, but also to avoid saying anything inappropriate while intoxicated.

He loved her so deeply, yet he saw her marry someone else. Cheng Boyan didn't know what he would say when he was drunk.

He was afraid of losing control.

"Congratulations to you both." Cheng Boyan's voice was as calm as ever as he raised his glass in greeting. His gaze briefly met Wen Xueyan's; that one glance seemed to traverse thousands of miles, yet it returned to calm in an instant, like the deep sea, concealing all turbulent emotions beneath a serene surface.

"Thank you, Mr. Cheng," Wen Xueyan replied softly. She took Xi Mingyuan's arm and quickly walked to the next table, her white wedding dress billowing like a cloud, slowly drifting away.

Cheng Boyan watched her retreating figure until Xu Junxian walked to his side. Xu Junxian felt that her opportunity had arrived.

However, after Wen Xueyan left, Cheng Boyan's face darkened. At this moment, he exuded a cold aura that kept strangers at bay, freezing all the words Xu Junxian had prepared on her lips.

After the wedding, Cheng Boyan drove home alone.

Back in the empty, desolate mansion, he took off his suit, loosened his tie, and sank into the sofa. In the darkness, the image of Wen Xueyan in her wedding dress uncontrollably surfaced in his mind.

The silence was broken by a knock on the door.

Xu Junxian stood outside the door. She had dressed up carefully, wearing a new Chanel tweed suit from the new season, and her pearl earrings gleamed warmly under the corridor lights.

"Bo Yan, let's talk."

Cheng Boyan didn't open the door, his voice tinged with a hint of ruthlessness: "If there's anything, we'll talk at the company tomorrow. Also, you should think about your older brother."

"Has something happened to my older brother?" Xu Junxian suddenly realized that her older brother had said he would attend the wedding, but he didn't show up tonight.
