19. Jealousy

19. Jealousy

"Miss Song, if he is love, then what am I?"

The moment Song Chiyu realized that Qi Yanzhou had kissed her, her heart began to pound uncontrollably, her mind went blank, and her cheeks turned red and hot.

At the same time, there was a knock on the door.

Xie Yunjin listened to the sound of the two people's footsteps going upstairs one after the other, and her heart was still uneasy. Even if the two of them had no feelings for each other, they were still a man and a woman alone. What if they really did develop feelings for each other?

Then he would truly be in a hopeless situation, with no one to turn to for help.

"Teacher Song," Xie Yunjin said gently, knowing that someone else lived next door, "Are you asleep?"

Song Chiyu was quite frightened and instinctively pushed Qi Yanzhou away.

Qi Yanzhou didn't insist and let her go.

Her lips were even redder than her face.

The shawl on her left arm slipped down, revealing a section of her shoulder. She covered her lips with one hand, staring at him in disbelief with her shimmering, watery eyes.

"Teacher Qi."

"How could you be such a person?"

Tonight, he clearly defied her expectations.

"Didn't you say you had no desire for that kind of thing?"

“Yes,” he didn’t deny it, “but only if you haven’t done it for me.”

Song Chiyu was stunned.

The knocking on the door continued, and Xie Yunjin called out more urgently, "Teacher Song, Teacher Song?"

Song Chiyu had no interest in paying attention to him.

Still sitting on Qi Yanzhou's lap, she argued with him: "What do you mean by that? What do you mean by 'I'? I have you, so you..."

Qi Yanzhou pulled up her shawl, covering the part of her exposed skin.

He didn't find this statement difficult to understand, so he didn't explain it to her further.

Song Chiyu suddenly understood, pointing at him with a fierce expression: "You pretended to be uninterested in me because you thought I had no desire for you? So, on that night at my house..."

"kindness."

"What are you 'en'ing? I haven't finished speaking yet." Song Chiyu's expression was serious, but her soft, coquettish tone was utterly lacking in lethality. He even felt sleepy. "It's just what you think."

Song Chiyu was even more disappointed.

"So all that... you were faking it before?"

“Miss Song,” he said, holding her index finger and exhaling a long breath from his nose, “I’ve said it before, I don’t mind, as long as you don’t treat me like a stranger.”

These words instantly brought her back to that night when she fled in panic.

She immediately covered his mouth with both hands, saying, "Let's not talk about things that are already in the past."

He gently brushed her hand away, a faint smile playing on his lips: "So you mistook me for him that night?"

“How could that be?” This assumption was an absolute humiliation to her. “I just thought you were too serious usually, so I deliberately ignored the image of you I had of you and imagined you as someone I felt closer to.”

"Really?" He didn't believe it. "So that night, you were also trying to avoid him?"

That cannot be denied.

However, Song Chiyu refused to let him lead her by the nose any longer: "Don't try to confuse me. You haven't answered any of my questions yet."

"Beep beep beep—"

Xie Yunjin couldn't get the door opened by knocking, so he started calling her.

Qi Yanzhou glanced indifferently at the vibrating phone beside her legs: "Miss Song, you have a call—"

Song Chiyu pressed the power button and tossed the phone to a spot out of their reach.

Song Chiyu looked down at him relentlessly: "So what is the real you like?"

"Both." Qi Yanzhou felt a warm drowsiness. "If you're not interested in me, then the Teacher Qi you saw is me. If you are interested in me, then what you just saw is also me. Miss Song, I think I'm a little sleepy."

As he spoke, his head leaned against her shoulder.

Song Chiyu wanted to push him away, but when she thought about how he hadn't slept well for several nights in a row, she angrily put her hand down.

"Teacher Song? Can you make a sound from inside?" Xie Yunjin was getting anxious, and the knocking on the door became more and more urgent.

“Miss Song,” Qi Yanzhou said, his eyes already closed, “if you don’t want me to stay the night, I’m going back to sleep.”

Is he going out now?

If something were to happen, the entire workstation would be called up to watch the spectacle.

"Wait until he leaves before you go out," Song Chiyu suggested.

"Do I have to watch his face just to go out?" Qi Yanzhou forced himself to lift his head: "Do I have a certificate or does he have a certificate?"

Song Chiyu wasn't in the mood to explain to him. She got up from his lap and started tidying her pillow.

"You sleep here first, and leave after he leaves, so that others won't laugh at you."

"Okay." He was clearly exhausted; he took off his shoes and lay down to sleep.

Song Chiyu held his hand: "Have you taken a shower? You're sleeping in my bed like this."

"It's been washed."

Song Chiyu then let go of him, "Then your coat..."

"Just changed it."

Song Chiyu didn't feel any difference from a few days ago, but when she took a closer sniff, it did smell quite fragrant.

Let him go for now.

Xie Yunjin was still knocking on the door.

Song Chiyu, unable to bear it any longer, said, "What are you knocking for? Aren't you going to sleep?"

"You—" Xie Yunjin wanted to say, she's sleeping? But who is she sleeping with? The two dogs at the door have been lying there for almost half an hour; it's time for them to move.

"Open the door, I have something to say to you."

"I have nothing to say to you, you should leave now." Song Chiyu walked to the foot of the bed and confronted him.

"I won't leave unless you tell me."

"If you're not going to leave, then don't leave." Song Chiyu got angry too, took off her shoes, turned off the dormitory lights, and went straight to bed.

The lights in the room were off.

But there was no sound from inside the room.

Xie Yunjin listened for a while, and the two of them didn't move after turning off the lights. They were clearly in the same position as before the lights were turned off, in order to make him give up.

Okay, let's see how long they can keep up this act.

Song Chiyu didn't hear Xie Yunjin leave, and she felt even more frustrated. To make matters worse, the bed was pitifully small. She didn't feel it when she slept alone, but now that Qi Yanzhou, such a tall guy, was squeezed in, she was almost falling off the bed.

Qi Yanzhou tried his best to avoid touching him, his back against the wall, but he was such a big guy that even when he lay on his side with his arms crossed, he still took up almost half the space.

Qi Yanzhou slept so miserably that Song Chiyu was also angry.

Risking rolling off the bed, she moved a little further away and gently nudged Qi Yanzhou: "You can move over a bit more."

"If I fall asleep again, you'll roll off the bed." He didn't even open his eyes, but he clearly sensed her situation and didn't move over rashly.

"It's okay, I'm thin, I won't fall." Song Chiyu wanted to give him a little more room, but as soon as she moved a little, her body also fell down uncontrollably.

She grabbed Qi Yanzhou's shirt at the chest, and Qi Yanzhou opened his eyes and quickly pulled her back from the bedside.

He didn't ask anything, but his silent gaze seemed to say everything.

Song Chiyu pushed away his arm that was draped over her stomach, silently turned her back to him.

The room was extremely quiet.

Song Chiyu carefully moved her aching waist and hips, lifting her buttocks as if to turn over, when she felt herself bump into him. She didn't dare think about where she bumped into him, and slowly shifted her buttocks to lie flat on her back.

He let out a long sigh of relief.

But this only made it harder for her to fall asleep; the faint scent of sandalwood emanating from him lingered in her nostrils. He slept quietly, without making a sound.

After sleeping like that for a while, her back and buttocks started to hurt again.

Xie Yunjin, however, showed no sign of leaving from outside the door.

Song Chiyu cursed him eight hundred times in her heart.

She dragged her heavy bottom towards Qi Yanzhou. She silently apologized to him in her heart, and carefully lifted her leg to put it on his lap.

Her back finally feels better.

He closed his eyes.

Qi Yanzhou kept his eyes closed and silently wrapped his arm around her calf, placing it on his waist.

He didn't ask anything, but he knew everything.

She tossed and turned, unable to sleep comfortably.

Song Chiyu woke up with a start, thinking he might have some ulterior motive, but he simply helped her adjust to a more comfortable position.

But she couldn't bear to look bad.

She quickly pulled her leg back from his waist.

He pulled her thigh up, lifted his bent knee as he lay on his side, and pressed his thigh against hers.

What do you want to do?

The voice was cool and drowsy, yet carried a calm indifference that seemed to have seen through everything.

Song Chiyu's legs, which were originally hanging in the air and straddling his waist, instantly became sitting on his lap.

Even the slightest sway or lift would send shivers down her spine.

She bit her lip, closing her eyes in embarrassment and helplessness.

"Hmm?" His voice was extremely cold, but it was incredibly wicked as he pressed against her thigh, intentionally rubbing against her skin. Song Chiyu couldn't stand this half-hearted teasing, so she grabbed his coat with her slender fingers, straddled his lap, and rubbed against him forcefully.

He curled his lips into a deep smile, his hand resting on her leg before silently landing on her buttocks. Knowing full well what he was asking, he whispered in her ear, "What are you rubbing against?"

She knew he was doing it on purpose, and glared at him angrily, but still couldn't help wrapping her arms around his neck.

His face naturally buried itself deep in her neck, letting her breath overwhelm his senses.

She let out a soft, seductive moan in his ear.

The sound was so faint that it couldn't disturb the room, or even the bed. It was barely enough to make a ripple in his ear.

Qi Yanzhou silently observed her loss of control.

Her lower abdomen and chest pressed against his coat, the soft fabric making no sound. Only his thighs, which he could feel the dampness and heat even through his trousers, knew what was happening.

**

Xie Yunjin heard voices inside the house, but couldn't make out what they were saying.

I knocked on the door again.

Song Chiyu, who had been pressing her waist and hips against his legs, suddenly stopped, realizing what she was doing. She pushed his knees away, pulled her legs back from his waist, and slowly distanced herself from him.

Qi Yanzhou glanced at his shadow, which was hidden in the crack of the door.

He casually pulled her hips up, lifted his bent knee, and pressed his thigh against hers again. "Enough?"

Her emotions, which she had finally managed to calm down, were stirred up again.

She tightened her legs, clamping them tightly around him.

"What do you mean by 'clamping me'?" He lowered his eyelids and slowly moved closer to her face.

"I'll let you stop now."

"Afraid he'll find out?" Even if she used all her strength, he could easily lift his leg to disturb her.

She let out a muffled groan in his ear.

I didn't hear what he was saying at all.

"Really?" Qi Yanzhou looked at her face and gently nudged her a few times with his leg.

Song Chiyu bit her lip tightly: "Hmm?"

Her helpless, moist eyes, bathed in moonlight streaming through the curtains, resembled a pool of spring water.

He gazed at her silently.

He slowly withdrew his leg from hers, pulled up her skirt which had risen to her knees, and gently brought his lips to hers: "Miss Song, do you know how I feel right now? It's like he's the one who has the right, and I'm the one who should be arrested."

Song Chiyu asked, puzzled, "Why would you think that?"

"Because, even in your bed, I still have to be mindful of his mood."

Song Chiyu panicked: "No, I just..."

"You don't want me to go out because you're afraid he'll see?" Qi Yanzhou said with a half-smile. "You care so much about his feelings?"

Song Chiyu: "No, I just..."

He didn't give her a chance to explain. "Miss Song, if this is love, then what am I?"

Song Chiyu: "Ouch..."

His lips were already close to hers: "Hmm?"

Song Chiyu: "I really didn't mean that, I'm just afraid of him—um."

"I'm still afraid of him." He stopped listening to her explanations, and as if to seal the deal, he lifted her chin and kissed her lips.

No, no.

Song Chiyu struggled to explain to him, but he didn't give her a chance to speak. Almost as soon as she opened her mouth, his tongue slipped past her teeth and entangled with the tip of her tongue.

"Teacher Song—" Xie Yunjin knocked on the door again.

Song Chiyu slapped his arm hard.

She can explain anything, as long as you let her speak.

He did let her go, but what he said next made her want to smash her head against a wall.

He cupped her forehead and chin, gazing at her with tender indifference. "Miss Song, are you rejecting me because you intend to remain a chaste widow even after marrying me?"

Song Chiyu: "?"

"You love him so much," he concluded casually.

"I didn't," Song Chiyu said anxiously, "I was just afraid you'd go out and cause a scene with him, and disturb the others. I don't know your position, and I can't tell them about our relationship, so how could it be—"

Before he finished speaking, he cupped her face and kissed her again.

Song Chiyu didn't know whether he cared or not. If he cared, why wouldn't he listen to her explanation? If he didn't care, why did he keep kissing her on the lips?

She could barely breathe.

She got angry while they were kissing.

She turned her head and said, "If you don't listen to my explanation, I won't let you kiss me."

"Is that so?" He seemed unconcerned, a nonchalant smile playing on his lips as he walked right past her. "Then we won't kiss."

Song Chiyu looked at his back as he stood straight in front of the bed.

He sat up in disbelief.

"You could have just listened to my explanation—"

“It’s not a problem with your explanation,” he said, lowering his eyelids half-jokingly, “it’s that if we keep kissing, it’ll definitely cause a bigger commotion, and you definitely won’t agree to it then—”

Her disagreement wasn't because of Xie Yunjin.

Song Chiyu was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan: "I—"

“I know,” he said, sitting down in the chair diagonally opposite him, tying his shoelaces, a serious expression on his face. “That’s not what you meant. It’s my problem.”

Song Chiyu was speechless for a moment.

He really does know everything. He just...

Song Chiyu gave him a disgruntled look, "Is it fun to tease me like this and watch me get anxious?"

"Yes, it's fun." He nodded gently.

He didn't tell her that there were some things he knew, but it wouldn't have mattered to him anyway.

"Teacher Song—" The voice stopped for a moment, and Xie Yunjin became anxious, knocking louder.

Qi Yanzhou got up and walked towards the door.

Song Chiyu hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.

He sensed her concerns.

He raised his hand and ruffled her hair: "Don't worry, I won't make things difficult for you."

Qi Yanzhou opened the door.

A gust of cold wind followed.

Xie Yunjin unconsciously took a step back: "I just want to ask, whose dog is that at the gate?"

"Which gate are you asking about?" Qi Yanzhou retorted coldly.

Xie Yunjin immediately realized that he was being insulted.

He said irritably, "You—"

"If you have nothing to do, find something to do." Qi Yanzhou closed the door behind him and walked past him without looking back: "It's not good to just squat in the corner and listen to other couples' gossip every day."

This is to emphasize that he and she are husband and wife.

Xie Yunjin understood, "But what she likes most is still—"

"Stop calling me Teacher Song. If it weren't for her sake, calling me 'Mom' outside wouldn't make a difference."

Xie Yunjin: "..."

He never expected such harsh words to come from such a gentle and refined person. But while the words were crude, the principle was sound: from a legal perspective, Qi Yanzhou and Song Chiyu were the legally married couple protected by law.

All he could rely on was Song Chiyu's past affection for him.

**

Qi Yanzhou led the two dogs back to the campsite, untied their leashes, and sat down on a camping chair next to the campfire.

The burly man on night watch had just finished washing his face and came over: "Master Qi, why are you back?"

"Can't you come back?" Qi Yanzhou added a piece of firewood to the fire with a calm expression.

"Yes," the burly man replied, oblivious to anything amiss. "How did your chat with your sister-in-law go?"

Qi Yanzhou did not answer.

That means it's over.

The burly man, sensing the situation, stopped pressing the matter and got up to leave. Qi Yanzhou stopped him: "Tell me, you know your wife has no feelings for that person, so why do you still feel uncomfortable about his existence and what he once possessed?"

The burly man was stunned for a moment, then suddenly clapped his hands: "I don't have a wife, how would I know?"

Qi Yanzhou: "..."

indeed.

The topic changed: "Where have Fourth Uncle's men gone?"
