Chapter 328 Collecting Royalties

Chapter 328 Collecting Royalties

Before she knew it, it was late August, and Jiang Ning had to go back to school to handle some matters.

Jiang Ning only went to the school on the first day of school.

Since the resumption of the college entrance examination, the number of students admitted to universities has gradually increased over the past few years.

After Jiang Ning told Qian Feng, who had brought her to school, to go back, she walked into Capital University. At this time, most of the people at the university gate were freshmen who had come to register.

Jiang Ning gets 100% of people turning their heads to look when she walks down the street.

Some of the bolder students even tried to approach and strike up a conversation.

"Teacher Jiang!"

Just then, a sound came from not far away.

Jiang Ning heard someone calling her and looked up.

They are from the school's logistics department.

The other person jogged up to Jiang Ning and said, "Teacher Jiang, Principal Lin said that if he sees you, please go to the principal's office first."

Hearing that it was Principal Lin calling her, Jiang Ning nodded.

Jiang Ning followed the logistics staff toward the principal's office, and the students who kept turning their heads to look at her as they passed by immediately started talking amongst themselves.

Such a young and beautiful woman is actually a teacher at the school!

The student council members, who were registering their new students for enrollment, overheard the discussions among the new students.

They chuckled twice. "Professor Jiang is the living advertisement of our school. Look at the medical school registration area, everyone's eyes are practically glued to Professor Jiang."

Upon hearing this, many people immediately looked towards the medical school's registration area. Sure enough, the new students who came to register from the medical school were all staring at Jiang Ning's departing figure with bright eyes.

If someone doesn't understand, they should ask.

A male student nudged the starry-eyed classmate next to him with his elbow, "Hey, aren't you a freshman? Do you know that pretty teacher Jiang that the senior was talking about?"

Hearing this, the male student who had been nudged asked in confusion, "Hey, haven't you ever watched the news?"

When the male student who had just asked the question was asked again, he scratched his head and said, "Well, my family is poor and can't afford a TV, so I rarely watch the news."

Upon hearing this, another male student quickly added, "Let me tell you, Teacher Jiang is amazing..."

He talked about how Teacher Jiang was often in the newspapers and later on television, and he could talk about it endlessly.

Jiang Ning was unaware that Principal Lin had used her as a recruitment brochure.

She went to the principal's office.

Principal Lin was waiting in his office. When he saw her arrive, he immediately greeted her with a smile that revealed eight teeth.

Besides Principal Lin, there was another man in the principal's office who looked to be over sixty years old. He was wearing a light gray Zhongshan suit and had a pen tucked into his breast pocket.

Upon seeing Jiang Ning enter the principal's office, he picked up his glasses from the coffee table, put them on, and then got up and walked over to Jiang Ning.

He politely extended his hand. "Dr. Jiang, hello. My name is Chen Hong, and I am the editor-in-chief of the Capital Publishing House."

"Hello." Jiang Ning extended her hand and shook hands with the other person. It was someone from the publishing house, probably here to discuss the royalties for the book she had previously written.

Principal Lin and Dean Kong asked her to write a book, and after she finished writing it, she handed it over to the two elders to handle.

Jiang Ning guessed that the people from the publishing house she met today were probably there to pay her royalties.

Sure enough, the editor-in-chief, Mr. Chen, from the publishing house took out a thick envelope from his briefcase. “Professor Jiang, the first print run of your two books was not large. This is the royalty fee. Our publishing house has discussed with you and agreed to give you a 12% royalty fee. If the books need to be reprinted in the future, the subsequent royalties will be transferred to your account in installments.”

A 12% royalty is quite substantial.

Few publishers would offer such high royalties.

With a smile on her face, Principal Lin immediately guessed that Principal Lin had secured the 12% royalty for her.

Jiang Ning took the envelope and nodded to Principal Lin with gratitude on her face.

Principal Lin's gaze toward Jiang Ning grew increasingly kind. Fortunately, he had the foresight to snatch half of the treasure from Old Kong's hands.

Jiang Ning has become a star attraction for the school, and this year, the number of students applying to her school for the college entrance examination is significantly higher than in previous years.

Seeing that many people came specifically for traditional Chinese medicine, Principal Lin was also very pleased.

After Editor-in-Chief Chen said goodbye, Principal Lin asked Jiang Ning to stay for a while longer. He frankly told Jiang Ning about her being used in the admission brochure.

Jiang Ning was somewhat surprised upon hearing this.

She doesn't attend classes at school much, only two days a week. How could Principal Lin have mistaken her for a medical school admission brochure?

Seeing Jiang Ning's surprised expression, Principal Lin said, "Teacher Jiang, your reputation is quite remarkable now."

Jiang Ning usually works at the hospital or teaches at school, a job that revolves around both. She has been featured in newspapers and on the news.

I know I have some influence now, but I don't think I've reached the point where I can influence school admissions.

After all, the school recruits students from all over the country.

But Principal Lin treated her as a recruitment brochure, and she had no objection.

Jiang Ning laughed and said, "There's nothing special about it. As for the enrollment, Principal, you can arrange it as you like. I'm a teacher at the school anyway."

Hearing Jiang Ning's words, Principal Lin felt relieved.

He knew that Jiang Ning had no objection to this matter.

Compared to Old Man Kong, he still cares more about long-term interests. No wonder Old Man Kong always has to give him a lecture whenever it involves Jiang Ning.

Regardless, he still hopes that Dr. Jiang's medical skills can be widely learned.

Principal Lin talked about the publishing house and student recruitment, and then he brought up the course changes with Jiang Ning.

The medical school now has an introductory book on traditional Chinese medicine written by Jiang Ning, and the basic course of traditional Chinese medicine has been added to the school's newly compiled curriculum.

However, Jiang Ning has to balance her work at the hospital and can't spend too much time at school.

Then Principal Lin decided to give Jiang Ning her classes in the school's largest auditorium.

There are four classes a week, spread over two days, with two classes per day, for students from freshman to senior year.

There is no change in the timing; the school still offers two-day courses.

Since the school has just started teaching Traditional Chinese Medicine, students naturally have to start from the basics.

Jiang Ning had no objection to the principal's arrangement, but traditional Chinese medicine is quite difficult, so for now, Jiang Ning, as the teacher, could only lead the students in first.

After finishing that conversation, Principal Lin started talking to Jiang Ning about international students from the United States.

"The international students from country M arrived today, and there are also international students in the medical school."

Jiang Ning nodded. It's normal for the two countries to send students to each other. Medicine knows no borders, and she had no objection.

As for how much they can learn, that depends on their abilities.

Seeing Jiang Ning nod, Principal Lin smiled and said, "Do you know what percentage of the medical school has international students?"

Jiang Ning looked up at Principal Lin.

Principal Lin, “It accounts for 80 percent! Our school has a total of more than 50 international students from the United States, and more than 40 of them applied to the medical school.”

Jiang Ning was quite surprised to hear Principal Lin's words.

In fact, everyone knows that other countries have always looked down on China's current medical system, believing that their medical skills are backward.

Previously, it was always Chinese people who went to other countries to study medicine; there had never been anyone from another country who came to China to study medicine.

Moreover, traditional Chinese medicine was severely impacted in the past, leading to its decline.
