Chapter 67 Disaster Area Support

Chapter 67 Disaster Area Support

Upon seeing the words "beloved wife Ningning," Jiang Ning seemed to hear the man's low, husky voice whispering those words in her ear.

My ears suddenly felt like they'd been scalded, becoming burning hot.

She suddenly longed to see Shen Mo.

Jiang Ning looked up at Brigade Commander Liang. Although she had saved Brigade Commander Liang, their relationship should not be so close that a brigade commander would send a message.

Jiang Ning thought for a moment and asked, "Commander Liang personally delivered the message, is there something wrong? Is there a situation in the disaster area? Did you come to see me because there aren't enough doctors?"

Commander Liang looked at Jiang Ning in surprise. He had only given her a letter and hadn't said anything else, yet this girl had guessed most of it.

Shen Mo really made a good choice in marrying his wife.

“The situation in the disaster area is quite critical. When Shen Mo and his team went to provide support, the military hospital also arranged for a doctor to accompany them. However, the injuries there are too severe, and logistical medical care is somewhat difficult. I am preparing volunteers to go and provide support, and I hope you can go with the team.”

When he arrived, he thought that if Dr. Jiang was willing to go, she would surely be able to save many more people.

However, the situation in the disaster area is severe and conditions are harsh, so if Jiang Ning is unwilling, he won't say anything more.

Jiang Ning didn't respond, but instead tore off a piece of paper, picked up a pen, and quickly wrote down a few words.

"If you don't want to..."

Before Commander Liang could finish speaking, Jiang Ning slammed the page she had written on onto the table with a 'bang,' walked around the desk, and said, 'Let's go, to the disaster area.'

The note Jiang Ning wrote was for Grandpa Huang, to inform him that she wouldn't be able to come to the clinic recently.

Seeing her rushing around, Brigade Commander Liang was both amused and exasperated. "No need to be in such a hurry, we're not leaving until tomorrow morning."

After saying that, he asked again to confirm, "Are you really sure? The environment there is very harsh."

Jiang Ning nodded. More people means more strength. As a doctor, she didn't have the ability to save everyone from suffering, but saving one more person was still a good thing.

She studied medicine to save lives, and in the face of disaster, she felt it was her duty to do so.

Brigade Commander Liang had wanted to tease her about whether she went there because of Shen Mo, but he swallowed his words back. He shouldn't insult a doctor's medical ethics.

Jiang Ning returned to the family compound with Brigade Commander Liang. Only after returning to the compound did she discover that the camp had issued a notice that morning calling for volunteers.

Back in the courtyard, Jiang Ning took out a small box and packed all the ointments she had made that might be useful in the disaster area. Then she went to Sister Li's house again.

I asked Sister Li to take care of Huo Zhiqi, and I also gave Sister Li five jars each of whitening cream and three-white cream. These were all made by her before. If any students want to buy them, they can give them to Li Xingyue.

When Sister-in-law Li learned that Jiang Ning was asking for disaster relief assistance, she immediately agreed.

She also wanted to go to the disaster area to provide assistance, but she had children at home who needed her care, so she couldn't leave.

When Huo Zhiqi returned home that evening, he heard that Jiang Ning was going to the disaster area to provide support. He immediately ran into the house and then ran out again, stuffing a handful of loose change into Jiang Ning's hand.

Jiang Ning looked at the money in her hand in surprise. It included coins of one yuan and a few cents. She knew that this money was the pocket money she gave to Huo Zhiqi.

The child didn't spend the money; instead, he saved it all.

A strange sense of satisfaction welled up inside me. Is this the joy of raising a well-behaved child?

Jiang Ning stuffed the money back into his little hand, "Mommy has money, you can keep it for yourself, buy whatever you need."

Huo Zhiqi looked at the money in his hand and his face fell. It seemed that his little bit of money couldn't help much.

Jiang Ning could tell what the child was thinking, so she pulled him into the yard. "Mom has to go treat a patient. You'll be in charge of the vegetables and flowers at home for a while, as well as the fish in the pond. Will you take good care of them for Mom?"

Huo Zhiqi nodded heavily and patted his chest. "Don't worry, Mom."

The camp was urgently calling for volunteers, and there were just enough volunteers to fill a bus.

When Jiang Ning went to the camp, she made a detour to the supply and marketing cooperative and bought ten catties of sugar in one go.

When she arrived at the camp with her things, the bus was already parked at the gate. Commander Liang glanced at his watch and realized that it was almost time to depart, but Jiang Ning hadn't arrived yet.

The soldier driving the car reminded him, "Brigadier, it's time to depart."

Brigade Commander Liang said, "Let's wait a little longer."

Not long after, he saw a figure walking towards him and called out, "Dr. Jiang."

Jiang Ning quickly walked over and said, "Sorry, I was delayed because I bought some necessities."

Commander Liang glanced at what she was carrying. Some areas in the disaster zone were so bad that vehicles couldn't reach them and people had to walk. So most people chose to travel light, only bringing the most important things. But Jiang Ning was carrying a small suitcase in one hand and a bag of candy in the other.

Seeing his gaze fall on her hands, Jiang Ning explained, "These are all necessities."

Brigade Commander Liang didn't think much of it and nodded, letting her get into the car.

There were only two empty seats left on the bus. Brigade Commander Liang sat next to a male comrade, while Jiang Ning's gaze fell on the seats in the first row. Her light eyes swept over them, and she raised an eyebrow.

Yan Liyue.

Yan Liyue's expression changed the moment she saw Jiang Ning get into the car. Why was Jiang Ning here?

Her gaze fell on the things in Jiang Ning's hands again—a box and candy. Was she here to cause trouble?

She quickly realized why Jiang Ning was there; she had volunteered to go to the disaster area because Shen Mo was there.

There was only one seat left on the bus, so Jiang Ning sat down next to Yan Liyue.

As soon as she sat down, Jiang Ning closed her eyes to rest. The journey there would take eight hours, and this was all the time they could afford to rest.

When the bus stopped once for a meal and rest, someone saw the large bag of milk candy in Jiang Ning's hand.

Suddenly, someone shouted, "Comrade Jiang, could we have some of your candy?"

As soon as she shouted this, many people echoed, "We want to eat some too."

Jiang Ning: "No way."

She had barely finished refusing when someone, who was about to say that the gifts were for the soldiers in the disaster area, immediately chimed in, clearly annoyed.

"You're so stingy. You have such a big bag of candy, what's wrong with sharing a little with us?"

"Exactly, can you finish such a big bag of candy by yourself?"

"Why would someone so stingy go to a disaster area?"

Jiang Ning frowned. Each person spoke in turn, and her attempts to explain were drowned out by their voices.
