Chapter 271 First Encounter

Chapter 271 First Meeting

The following morning at 8:30, outside the business suite of the X Hotel, the hotel manager led the way, introducing Fu Shenyuan and Jiang Ranxing.

"Mr. Fu, Mrs. Fu, the private room you requested was prepared this morning. Please come in this way," the hotel manager said, opening the door for you. "Please make yourselves at home. If you need anything, just let us know. We'll be waiting at the door. Your distinguished guest will be here soon."

"Okay." Fu Shenyuan replied and pulled out a chair for Jiang Ranxing.

Jiang Ranxing glanced at the time on her wristwatch. The closer it got to nine o'clock, the calmer she felt, despite her anxiety and helplessness.

Fu Shenyuan had been watching her expressions and movements closely. He turned to her and asked, "Are you nervous about meeting him?"

Jiang Ranxing remained silent for a moment, then nodded.

It would be a lie to say she wasn't nervous at all, after all, that might really be her own brother, her real family.

Fu Shenyuan reached out and covered her hand with his large hand. The warmth of his hand spread through her skin. Jiang Ranxing looked up and saw Fu Shenyuan slowly giving her a smile.

Jiang Ranxing blinked and pulled her hand back.

Just then, the heavy wooden door to the private room was opened again, and the hotel manager pushed it open once more, accompanied by a polite and respectful voice: "Mr. Jiang, this way please."

Jiang Ranxing's gaze was drawn to the doorway.

A black, crisp coat glimpsed as a tall, imposing man strode in. He wore a somewhat traditional three-piece dark blue double-breasted suit, over which he wore a more understated black, straight-cut coat. The man was tall and well-built, and dressed very stylishly.

Jiang Ranxing could tell from his observation that although the man seemed to be dressed very modestly, the quality of his clothes was undeniable, and his leather shoes were spotless. This outfit was definitely not something an ordinary rich person could afford; the price of his entire outfit would be staggering.

As he drew closer, Jiang Ranxing noticed his face. It wasn't the delicate, handsome type; instead, it possessed an imposing and noble air that commanded respect. Anyone who looked at him would be drawn to his aggressive and impactful features. His gaze seemed to speak volumes, each word conveying the message that the other person must immediately obey his instructions. That look was definitely that of a powerful figure wielding immense authority within some complex network of power.

He's so unapproachable. That was Jiang Ranxing's first thought when she saw him. Jiang Yan was unlike any other man she had ever met. No wonder he was so mysterious to outsiders. Probably very few people had actually seen him.

Jiang Yan stood a little distance away from the table, as if to invite others to come forward and show him respect.

Seeing this, the hotel manager tried to invite Jiang Yan to sit down, but Jiang Yan waved her hand and said, "No need, you can go back to your work."

Jiang Yan's tone towards the service staff was not arrogant; on the contrary, it was quite polite.

After the hotel manager left, Jiang Yan turned to Fu Shenyuan, smiled, and extended his hand: "Mr. Fu, it's a pleasure to have you invite me."

Fu Shenyuan stood up and shook hands with Jiang Yan in return: "President Jiang, you're too kind. Please have a seat."

Fu Shenyuan's social status is not lower than Jiang Yan's; on the contrary, he is a level above him. People of Jiang Yan's rank usually treat him with more respect. However, due to the special relationship between Jiang Yan and Jiang Ranxing, Fu Shenyuan takes the initiative to give Jiang Yan face.

Fu Shenyuan stood up, walked over and moved a chair for Jiang Yan, inviting her to sit down.

Jiang Yan remained expressionless, nodded, and sat down. Only after sitting down did he shift his gaze to Jiang Ranxing.

"Your wife?" Jiang Yan asked, looking at Fu Shenyuan.

"Yes, this is my wife, Jiang Ranxing." Fu Shenyuan sat back down, and the three of them were finally seated.

Jiang Yan was not an impolite person. He stood up again, extended his hand to Jiang Ranxing, and said, "Jiang Yan, it's an honor."

Jiang Ranxing wasn't used to such formal greetings, but she handled it well. She also extended her hand to shake hands and said, "Jiang Ranxing, it's a pleasure to meet President Jiang."

All the panic, tension, and helplessness that Jiang Ranxing had felt earlier vanished in that instant.

Although Jiang Yan looks serious and aloof, he doesn't give off a strong sense of pressure. He just makes you feel that he is not someone you can take lightly.

Jiang Yan sat down again and looked at Fu Shenyuan.

"I wonder what important matter Mr. Fu is so eager to see me about? How is the health of the old chairman of the Fu family?"

Fu Shenyuan said, "Thanks to President Jiang's concern, my grandfather's condition has stabilized."

Tan Shenshi sent a message at 3 a.m. saying that Grandpa Fu had been out of danger and was being transferred to a VIP ward for continued observation.

"As for why I'm looking for Mr. Jiang, it's because my wife has something important to discuss with you."

Fu Shenyuan didn't exchange pleasantries with Jiang Yan, but instead directly turned the topic to Jiang Ranxing.

He glanced at Jiang Ranxing and whispered in his ear, "Tell him. Don't worry, I'm here."

Fu Shenyuan's words naturally reached Jiang Yan's ears as well.

Jiang Yan said, "Mrs. Fu, please feel free to say whatever you have to say. I'm here to sit down and listen to what you have to say."

Jiang Ranxing hesitated for a moment, seemingly thinking about where to begin, but she was at a loss because she had no memories of the Jiang family in City A, so she had no way of starting.

“President Jiang, what I’m about to say might be offensive, or you might think I’m talking nonsense,” Jiang Ranxing paused before continuing, “Has the Jiang family lost someone, a woman?”

While Jiang Ranxing and Fu Shenyuan waited, Jiang Yan smiled, but it was clearly not a real smile; it contained a hint of weariness and impatience.

Jiang Yan's voice was very calm and indifferent: "Mrs. Fu, you wouldn't be thinking that you've found that person, would you?"

Jiang Yan's calm and seemingly indifferent demeanor surprised both Jiang Ranxing and Fu Shenyuan.

Fu Shenyuan suspected that the rumored Jiang Yan, who was secretly searching for someone, did not actually exist. Perhaps those rumors were just fabricated by someone to add to Jiang Yan's mystery.

Jiang Ranxing paused for a moment, then said, "Yes, I have this clue."

Jiang Yan straightened his cufflinks, which had become slightly crooked after he sat down, and asked casually, "Then, Mrs. Fu, tell me, who is it?"

The air seemed to fall into a moment of silence.

She didn't immediately reveal that the person was herself, because she seemed to sense that perhaps she, as a possible younger sister, was dispensable to Jiang Yan.

If it's truly dispensable, then saying it might only cause unnecessary trouble.

He turned his gaze to the man opposite him and asked, "Mr. Jiang, I may not have enough information. Perhaps I'm mistaken. My female friend is in her thirties. I don't know if her age is correct."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yan chuckled, and then his tense shoulders relaxed slightly.

"Then Mrs. Fu has really made a mistake. The person I'm looking for is twenty-seven years old this year, and will soon be twenty-eight. The age doesn't match. Thank you for your kindness."

At twenty-seven or twenty-eight, thinking about it this way, she had just celebrated her twenty-eighth birthday. However, this birthday was probably fabricated by Xu Qinghe, and her real age matched up.

Jiang Yan seemed to have lost interest and didn't want to dwell on the topic any longer, so she turned to Fu Shenyuan and said coldly, "Mr. Fu, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave. Don't use the name of my Jiang family again next time. I don't like her being impersonated so easily."

After speaking, Jiang Yan's face turned cold, and all his expressions on his sharply defined face could be described as murderous.

"Wait a minute." Jiang Yan had just stood up when Jiang Ranxing called him back.

"Does Mrs. Fu have anything else to say?" Jiang Yan turned her head, not even having time to withdraw the chilling aura emanating from her.

Jiang Ranxing noticed Jiang Yan's last words. They were a warning, but also a sense of guarding that would not allow anyone to violate him. Jiang Yan did not disregard his sister; on the contrary, he cared deeply about her. His concern was so intense that it was a kind of utter anger after she had been impersonated and falsely claimed to be his sister several times. Thus, he was disheartened and disappointed, yet he still held on because of his lingering affection.

“I have a clue about your sister, but I lied to you because I wasn’t sure. Her age matches your sister’s.”

Jiang Yan turned around, his expression unchanged, but Jiang Ranxing could still see the urgency in his eyes.

"Where is she now? Can you take me to see her?" Jiang Yan asked, the burning desire in his heart to find his sister never extinguished.

However, this time, Jiang Ranxing did not nod immediately.
