Chapter 54 The Unknown Past
Is Fu Shenyuan... concerned about her?
Jiang Ranxing felt somewhat incredulous that Fu Shenyuan would actually care about her and ask how she was doing.
He never cared about himself, did he...?
Why ask that?
Jiang Ranxing thought of the banquet at that time, shook his head and chuckled twice.
She thought about Fu Shenyuan's attitude and realized that he no longer cared about her.
She didn't want to dwell on those meaningless things anymore.
Jiang Ranxing downplayed the issue and said casually, "The doctor said I've been too tired lately and need to rest more."
Fu Shenyuan simply nodded after listening, and then asked, "What have you been busy with lately?"
Jiang Ranxing paused for a moment, not wanting to tell him what he was really busy with.
Jiang Ranxing said calmly, "I'm a free person, I don't have anything to do."
Fu Shenyuan hummed in agreement.
Fu Shenyuan didn't seem to care what Jiang Ranxing was saying, and picked up the document again to read it.
Jiang Ranxing didn't say anything more and turned his neck to look at the scenery outside the window.
The atmosphere inside the car became strangely awkward, and Tan Shen really didn't think the three of them looked like a family of three.
Tan Shen shook his head and continued driving attentively.
The Fu family's old residence.
Fu Shenyuan and his family of three arrived relatively early; there weren't many people in the restaurant yet, as Old Master Fu and Fu Hongkai hadn't arrived.
Fu Xingyi went to play in the garden with the other children in the Fu family.
Only Fu Shenyuan and Jiang Ranxing remained in the restaurant.
The waiter came over and whispered something to Fu Shenyuan.
Fu Shenyuan turned around and looked at Jiang Ranxing, saying, "Grandpa wants us to go to the study."
Jiang Ranxing pointed to himself: "Me?"
Fu Shenyuan's face was somewhat gloomy. Jiang Ranxing knew that Fu Shenyuan's expression clearly showed his dissatisfaction with her question.
Fu Shenyuan thought her question was stupid.
Jiang Ranxing didn't want to defend herself any further, so she followed Fu Shenyuan to Old Master Fu's study.
The waiter knocked on the heavy mahogany study door.
"Master, Young Master Sun and Young Mistress Sun have arrived."
The old man inside the door coughed softly, gesturing for them to come in.
The waiter opened the door, and Fu Shenyuan and Jiang Ranxing went inside.
Both of them greeted him politely and respectfully, saying, "Grandpa."
Grandpa Fu looked up at the two people in front of him and told them to sit down and wait for him.
After writing the last character, Grandpa Fu put down his brush, wiped his hands, and came over.
Grandpa Fu sat down in the main seat and gazed at the two of them.
After a long while, Old Master Fu finally looked away.
Fu Shenyuan spoke first: "Grandpa, you were looking for us."
"Well, I have something to discuss with you two," Old Master Fu said in a deep voice to Fu Shenyuan. "Your second uncle came to see me the day before yesterday, saying he wanted the land your parents owned and asked if I agreed."
Fu Shenyuan's eyes suddenly became much sharper.
Old Master Fu could tell what was going on just by looking at him, and then said...
"It's the land where Ranxing's original family home was located. Your second uncle wants to take it to build a resort."
"Impossible! No one can touch that land." Fu Shenyuan said without hesitation, his tone utterly impolite.
Jiang Ranxing didn't say anything, just listened from the side, still not understanding what was going on.
What's wrong with that piece of land? Is it really necessary for Fu Shenyuan to make such a big fuss?
Fu Shenyuan has always been very calm and has never been overly emotional.
Something that could make him angry must be very important.
Looking at Jiang Ranxing's blank expression, Grandpa Fu knew that she didn't remember anything.
Grandpa Fu said to Fu Shenyuan, "Shenyuan, the decision on that land is entirely yours. I didn't agree to your second uncle's request, and I don't plan to get involved in this matter either. You two can discuss it yourselves."
Grandpa Fu seemed a little uneasy and added.
"Remember, don't have a direct confrontation with your second uncle, and consider the reputation of the Fu family."
Fu Shenyuan nodded in agreement, his face remaining as cold and stern as ever.
Grandpa Fu said again, "Alright, Shen Yuan, you can go out now. Ranxing and I still have some things to talk about."
Fu Shenyuan glanced at the two of them, then got up and left the study.
Jiang Ranxing was somewhat confused, not knowing what Grandpa Fu meant.
Grandpa Fu picked up the teapot and poured two cups of tea, and Jiang Ranxing was instantly filled with fear.
“Grandpa, let me do it. This is not the proper way,” Jiang Ranxing said.
Grandpa Fu didn't take it seriously and said, "What rules or regulations? We're family, we don't talk about these things."
Jiang Ranxing: "I..."
Grandpa Fu glanced at her and then smiled, “At least we’re still family now, right?”
Jiang Ranxing smiled and nodded somewhat reluctantly.
Grandpa Fu said, "There are some things I couldn't say in front of Shen Yuan, so I kept you behind to talk to you alone."
Jiang Ranxing looked at Grandpa Fu with a puzzled expression.
Grandpa Fu leaned back in his mahogany chair, picked up his tea, blew on it twice, and then sipped a little.
"Old Master Fu said slowly."
"Burning Star, you don't know about Shen Yuan's parents, do you? Let me tell you about it."
Grandpa Fu recalled many past events, including those concerning Jiang Ranxing and Fu Shenyuan.
"When was the first time you met Shen Yuan, as you remember it? It must have been at the villa in the countryside. You were only six or seven years old then, and Shen Yuan was only two years older than you."
Jiang Ranxing nodded. She first met Fu Shenyuan in that white villa in the countryside.
That one glance was enough to amaze her for a long time to come.
Grandpa Fu continued, "I never told you that Shen Yuan's parents had just passed away at that time, and Shen Yuan was invited by Hong Kai to live in the countryside."
Jiang Ranxing was quite surprised to hear this, and she also noticed the word "please" that Old Master Fu emphasized.
This is clearly not an invitation; to a small child, it's tantamount to kicking them out of the house.
Jiang Ranxing couldn't say it directly: "Why did my second uncle... invite Shen Yuan there?"
Grandpa Fu didn't go into much detail.
“Those are all things of the past, you don’t need to know too much about them. Ever since Shen Yuan went to live in the countryside, he has been depressed. He was young and lost his parents, and it felt like the sky had fallen for him.”
"I was busy at that time. I had to make all the decisions for the entire Fu Group. At the same time, the Fu Group was actively expanding into overseas markets. I was traveling to various countries for several years, so I neglected family matters and naturally neglected Shen Yuan as well."
"It wasn't until the housekeeper told me that Shen Yuan was being treated in the emergency room that I learned about what had happened at home. Fortunately, Shen Yuan was rescued in time and survived; otherwise, he would have died when he was just a few years old."
Grandpa Fu recounted the past in silence. Jiang Ranxing had heard some of these stories before, mainly about Fu Shenyuan being rescued.
"Since Shen Yuan was rescued, he has become a completely different person. He is no longer hopeless about life. For some reason, this child is getting better and better every day and has more hope for life."
Grandpa Fu took two more sips of tea.
"I'm so glad to see Shen Yuan pull through on his own and become so outstanding, but I also know he has something on his mind. Later I found out that what's on his mind is the person who saved him, who is..."
