"Taking something without asking is stealing; just call the police."
Shen Yun, who was standing nearby, was about to go out and call the police. The woman hadn't expected such a small matter.
Ye Zhaozhao insisted on making a mountain out of a molehill.
By now, quite a few people had gathered at the door to watch the commotion. The woman, unable to contain her anger, decided to turn the tables and blame the man.
"Isn't it because you deliberately put the meat in there for the children to eat?"
Ye Zhaozhao had figured out the woman's attitude and didn't want to talk to her.
The woman gave Shen Yun a wink and quickly called out to her.
"Wait, I'll pay you back, okay?"
Seeing that the woman was willing to give money, Ye Zhaozhao asked Shen Yun to come back. The woman asked reluctantly.
How much money do you want?
"Ten yuan."
When the woman heard that it was ten yuan, she almost flew into a rage. Wasn't this blatant ripping her off? The woman looked towards the door and complained to everyone.
"Everyone come and see! My child only ate two pieces of her meat, and she's demanding ten yuan right off the bat. Why don't you just rob her?"
The onlookers remained silent; they had long been fed up with the mother and her two children.
Now that someone can finally put them in their place, they're all clapping and cheering.
The two sides were deadlocked when the old man in charge of the area arrived and saw Grandpa Xie.
Miao Fengying spoke as if she had found a powerful backer.
"Uncle Xie, what do you think we should do about this?"
The voice was so sweet and delicate that even women, let alone men, felt sorry for her.
Grandpa Xie glanced at her, then said to Ye Zhaozhao.
"Comrade, the child is young and doesn't understand. Why don't you let her pay less?"
Ye Zhaozhao knew that this was the steward, and that she might need his help in the future.
Since he's already spoken, she'll give him that courtesy.
"Okay, then I'll give you five yuan."
Miao Fengying wanted to say something, but was stopped by a look from Grandpa Xie.
He had already realized that Ye Zhaozhao was not someone to be trifled with.
Rather, it's the clothes they wear and the fact that they can afford such a big house that tell you they're not ordinary people.
In the end, Miao Fengying obediently paid the money back, and they learned their lesson.
Ye Zhaozhao was very satisfied that no one dared to steal anything from her home.
Seeing that everyone had left, Aunt Hua looked at Ye Zhaozhao with admiration in her eyes.
“Who in this neighborhood hasn’t been robbed by them? Only you dare to ask for money.”
"What's there to be afraid of? Since they stole it, they should pay the price."
Aunt Hua thought Ye Zhaozhao had a good personality and didn't know how to provoke others.
But if others try to bully her, she won't suffer any losses.
"That's right, I'll be like you from now on."
"Aunt Hua, are Uncle Xie and Miao Fengying related?"
Don't think Ye Zhaozhao can't see it; although Uncle Xie made Miao Fengying pay money earlier...
But the words were spoken in her favor, when she brought it up.
Aunt Hua leaned closer and winked at her as she spoke.
"Everyone is saying that Grandpa Xie and Miao Fengying had an affair."
Ye Zhaozhao didn't expect such a huge explosion; Miao Fengying looked to be only in her thirties.
Why would she fall for an old geezer like Uncle Xie? Aunt Hua could see through her thoughts.
He said it in a sarcastic tone.
"She wasn't after the man; she was after his money and power."
The man in charge isn't a big shot, but he's not insignificant either; if you offend him...
He can find all sorts of ways to pick a fight with you. Aunt Hua even said that Uncle Xie is a vengeful person.
"Because Aunt Liu talked about him in public, and last time her grandson had a fever and went to him, Grandpa Xie didn't help at all."
After hearing this from Aunt Hua, Ye Zhaozhao told her family to be careful, but not to be afraid, and to deal with the matter.
It was getting late, so Ye Zhaozhao decided to stay there.
Shen Bo heard about this when he returned, and he agreed with Ye Zhaozhao's approach.
Their family is different from others; if they came to steal meat every day, how would they make any money?
"Mom and Dad, I want to rent a place outside."
Shen Bo planned to save up more money before buying lunchboxes, after he and Fang Siwan got married.
It's impossible for me to live in Ye Zhaozhao's house; I'm already very grateful that he's allowed to stay there.
"Okay, keep an eye out for yourself. Your mom and I will ask around for you."
Shen Jianli and Liang Hudie also agreed that Shen Bo and his wife should move out.
After finishing their business, everyone went to sleep, and Ye Zhaozhao slept soundly through the night.
The next day, when I got up to use the restroom, I found that there was a long queue at the public restroom outside.
Shen Yun told Ye Zhaozhao that this is what living in a courtyard house is like.
Having to get up early to use the restroom, Ye Zhaozhao had no choice but to queue up with everyone else.
While I was queuing, I saw Miao Fengying come out wiggling her hips.
Seeing that Ye Zhaozhao didn't greet her and judging from her demeanor, Ye Zhaozhao figured that Uncle Xie must have put in a good word for her.
As luck would have it, the person in front of her in line was Aunt Wei, Xie Da-ye's wife.
"Auntie, your hair is so beautiful."
Ye Zhaozhao's words made everyone look at Aunt Wei, who immediately felt a little embarrassed.
However, Ye Zhaozhao was telling the truth.
Aunt Wei is over fifty years old, but you can't see a single gray hair on her head.
Aunt Wei had always been proud of her black hair, but now she heard Ye Zhaozhao say this.
He instantly developed a strong liking for her and immediately told Ye Zhaozhao his secrets for washing and nourishing his hair. Ye Zhaozhao nodded and remembered them.
“Aunt Wei, you and Uncle Xie are both very good people.”
Aunt Wei was beaming with pride after being praised, and then Ye Zhaozhao told her about what happened last night.
Aunt Wei was still smiling when she heard the first half, but her expression turned a little ugly when she heard the second half.
