The woman's name was Kong Cuixiang. She had been staying at home taking care of the elderly and children.
Now that she finally doesn't have to take care of the elderly anymore, and the children are a bit older, she's come to join the military.

Kong Cuixiang saw the pastries, peanuts, and melon seeds on the table and started eating them without waiting for anyone to say anything.
The three of them glanced at her, then exchanged a look; this person was far too overtly familiar.
Without asking, she started eating, and Kong Cuixiang didn't think she was doing anything wrong.
Back in the village, she would eat whatever food she could find at whichever house she visited.
No one said anything to her. What she didn't know was that they didn't say anything because of Deputy Brigade Commander Qiu.
"I also want to grow vegetables in my yard, can you teach me?"
Kong Cuixiang humbly asked for advice, and Ye Zhaozhao told her how to grow vegetables.
Whether the vegetables could be grown or not was none of her concern; Kong Cuixiang stayed until mealtime.
Chu Kening and Sun Xiuhua were both going back, but she still had no intention of going back.
Her gaze remained fixed on the courtyard, and she thought to herself how wonderful it was.
Ye Zhaozhao was about to cook, but she still wouldn't leave until her son came to call her.
"Mom, Dad wants you to go back and cook."
"Okay, okay, what's the rush? Are you guys reincarnated starving ghosts?"
Kong Cuixiang left muttering curses, and Ye Zhaozhao ignored her and went to cook.
Back home, Kong Cuixiang couldn't help but feel envious when she thought of Ye Zhaozhao's yard full of vegetables.
She discussed it with her husband.
"Shall we plant some vegetables in the yard too?"
The man looked at her with an expression that said, "Are you alright?" Kong Cuixiang was very dissatisfied with his attitude and asked.
"Will it work or not?"
