Lu Yunpeng left with the lunchbox. Su Lingling felt wronged; it wasn't that she hadn't lent him the food, but that others wouldn't lend it to her.
The next morning, Jiang Tong saw He Degang leaving the dormitory, seemingly on his way to training, and quickly called out to him.
"Comrade He."
He De turned around and saw Jiang Tong, a look of surprise flashing in his eyes.
Comrade Jiang, what are you doing here?
Jiang Tong then told him about her time as a teacher at a military school. Upon hearing that she was a teacher, He De felt great respect for her, as his family had been poor when he was a child.
He only went to primary school and, in his own words, could barely read or write. He only knew how to train, so he thought all teachers were very cultured.
"Comrade He, thank you for helping me catch the thief that day."
"Comrade Jiang, no need to be so polite, just call me He De."
"Okay, you can call me Jiang Tong."
Jiang Tong gave him the cured meat and ran off before giving him a chance to refuse. He De had no choice but to take the cured meat to the canteen and ask Chef Xue to add a meal for their group.

Jiang Tong nodded. The hair clip had small diamonds on it, and Jiang Tong loved it. Xie Jianing noticed the hair clip on her head as soon as she arrived.
"Jiang Tong, where did you buy this hair clip?"
"It was given to me by Sister Zhao Zhao."
After listening to her, Xie Jianing smiled and handed her a military green crossbody bag.
"This is for you."
Jiang Tong felt incredibly lucky; everyone was giving her gifts today.
When Tang Yi came in, she looked worried. Xie Jianing asked her a question.
"Sister Tang, what's wrong?"
