Even so, Mi Shan's actions did not dispel Feng Qianzhong's doubts.
This only made her more curious.
Without realizing it, I took a step closer, wanting to see what was going on.
"Consort Feng, you have been rude. This is my palace. Who I speak with is none of your business."
“That’s right, how can you interfere in His Highness’s affairs?” Zhao Si quickly chimed in, echoing Li Changyu’s words.
He's good at reading people's expressions.
Seeing his master's displeasure, his handsome face held a chilling aura, keeping everyone at arm's length.
Completely different from when I met Consort Mi Hui.
The tone, the look in his eyes, even carried a hint of disgust.
Then he knew that his master disliked this woman.
Feng Qianzhong was taken aback, naturally knowing that she had displeased Li Changyu. However, she was really curious and silently clenched her fists, her jealousy making her lose her mind.
"I just want to know, which palace do they belong to? Your Highness, if there's really nothing going on, why are you trying to hide it? And you two, which palace are you servants from? How dare you remain silent when your master asks you questions! Do you not respect me at all!"
Consort Feng is, after all, a concubine of the highest rank. When she gets really angry, she can still use her status to intimidate people.
This is really troublesome.
A hint of impatience flashed in Mi Shan's cold eyes. She exchanged a glance with A Chan and said in a cold voice:
"This servant dares not, but with the Crown Prince present, it is not our place to speak."
"If you don't answer my questions directly, then something's up! Tell me, are you trying to seduce the Crown Prince?"
"Consort Feng is really idle. She has time to get entangled with us two maids here, and she's not afraid of delaying her business at Taiji Palace to serve the Emperor."
Mi Shan said casually, her voice slightly high-pitched, unlike her usual speaking style.
For a moment, even Feng Zhaoyi couldn't recognize who it was.
He then looked towards Achan.
Li Changyu reached out and blocked it.
"Aren't you leaving yet? Don't force me to send someone to kick you out."
"I..." Consort Feng sighed helplessly. Not wanting to displease him, and fearing that arriving late would displease the emperor, she could only grit her teeth and retreat.
"Then I shall take my leave, Your Highness."
"Go away. Who wants to see you?" Zhao Si waved her away unhappily, looking down at her.
Feng Qianzhong: "..." His face twitched with anger, but he swallowed his anger and got into the sedan chair.
Mi Shan and A Chan breathed a sigh of relief and took off their hats.
"That was close, she almost found out," Achan said.
"Actually, if she had witnessed this, it would definitely have blown up. Along the way, some guards had seen us. If Consort Feng were to expose it, others would immediately find out it was us," Mi Shan said, analyzing the situation rationally.
The voice was clear and cold, like plum blossoms in frost and snow.
"But they don't know it's you and me; they'll just think it's Xun'er."
"But we still need a reasonable explanation. Why would Her Majesty's two maids come to the Eastern Palace to see the Crown Prince in the middle of the night?" Achan asked anxiously.
Li Changyu smiled faintly, gazing at them with deep eyes: "Do you have to come to see me?"
His voice was clear and crisp, like a clear spring falling. The wind blew, lifting his robes and hair, and the scent of distant snow pines wafted over.
Mi Shan was slightly taken aback, staring at him in astonishment. After a few seconds of silence, she suddenly realized what he meant and smiled knowingly.
“The Crown Prince is right. Who says we’re here to see the Crown Prince? We could also be here to see Zhao Si.”
Zhao Si: "???"
no.
Please don't mess with me.
"I'm just a diligent gatekeeper, a lowly guard, and you've caused me so much trouble, I..."
"You always say that you will devote yourself to me until your dying breath."
Li Changyu's eyes were cold and clear as frost. She lowered her gaze and looked down at him, her hands behind her back, exuding a cool and elegant demeanor.
"Well, that's what I said, but having an affair with a palace maid in the harem is a serious crime, and I dare not do it. It would cost me my head."
"If I were to perish, how could I remain loyal to my master and serve him with utmost devotion?"
"Then let us die for it."
"ah?"
“Your master is just joking with you. How could he bear to let you die?” Mi Shan smiled and looked at him. “You just need to remember that A Chan and Xun’er came to ask you for the sword manual. You are the Crown Prince’s personal guard, so you naturally have some skills.”
"My daughter, Achan, is about to take the martial arts exam and will set off tomorrow."
"I'm free tonight, so before I leave, I've come to get the sword manual I promised to give her. Just say that I got it for her. That's not too much to ask."
"And if only they come and I am gone, even if the Emperor suspects something, he will have a legitimate reason and probably won't think much of it."
"Brilliant!"
Zhao Si's eyes lit up, and he gave a thumbs up. "Believe it or not, I actually do have a sword manual. I'll give it to you right now!"
"There's no one here now, come in and talk."
Li Changyu watched Zhao Si run inside and said calmly.
Mi Shan nodded, glanced at his tall figure, and followed him inside.
The door closed.
The two sat on the small terrace in the courtyard. There were no snacks, no tea, and nothing on the table, but simply sitting quietly side by side, resting their chins on their hands and gazing at the sky, seemed to be the most tranquil and beautiful thing.
Mi Shan looked up, stole a glance at him, hesitated for a moment, and then asked, "Aren't you curious why I came to see you?"
It's been so long.
He didn't say anything.
Little did they know, Li Changyu's silence was simply because he did not want to break this hard-won tranquility.
