According to Mrs. Qiao’s understanding of her son, she estimated he wouldn’t be serious for very long.
The boy was never invested in anything for more than a fleeting moment from childhood.
He was impulsive, doing whatever came to mind.
Qiao Ran then said, "Mom, let’s arrange for the classes now; I’ll start the tutoring session tomorrow."
With more than 90 days until the college entrance exam, his intelligence meant that if he truly applied himself, his ideal university was within reach.
Qiao Ran was full of confidence in himself.
Mrs. Qiao nodded, curiously asking, "Son, why have you suddenly decided to apply for college out of the blue?"
The old Qiao Ran had never entertained the idea.
Not even for three minutes.
"You don’t need to worry about that, just believe that your son will definitely get into a good university."
Mrs. Qiao chuckled, "Alright, I’ll look forward to it then."
Qiao Ran grabbed his school bag, "Well, I’m off to study upstairs."
Study?
Watching Qiao Ran’s retreating back, Mrs. Qiao was taken aback.
This youngster...
Was he serious?
Once upstairs in the study, Qiao Ran began to study in earnest.
But after a while, he realized that without a teacher, he couldn’t grasp many of the concepts at all.
Desperate, Qiao Ran started scratching his head, and soon came up with a solution. He decided to find a teacher online for one-on-one tutoring; the courses were somewhat expensive, but money was least of the Qiao family’s concerns.
Before long, Mrs. Qiao also came upstairs.
Qiao Ran’s room door was not closed, so Mrs. Qiao walked directly in.
But strangely, there was nobody inside.
"Son?" Mrs. Qiao called out.
No one answered.
"Son?" she called again.
Still, there was no response.
"Strange," Mrs. Qiao said with a puzzled look, "I didn’t see him go downstairs, so where could he have gone?"
There were only six rooms upstairs, four of which were guest rooms.
He surely hadn’t gone to the study, had he?
Even though she thought it highly unlikely, Mrs. Qiao still walked toward the study.
The study door was slightly ajar.
Just as Mrs. Qiao pushed the door open, she saw her son sitting there, studying intently.
For a moment, Mrs. Qiao thought she was seeing things.
But soon she noticed the tablet placed in front of Qiao Ran.
The lad must be pretending, she thought.
Mrs. Qiao tiptoed closer to Qiao Ran, ready to catch him in the act. Coming up behind him, she saw that the tablet was not showing a game or a TV series, but a one-to-one tutoring session with a famed teacher.
It was then that Mrs. Qiao truly believed her darling son had changed his ways!
Seeing her son finally becoming sensible filled Mrs. Qiao with immense relief.
Just as the lesson ended, Qiao Ran looked up at Mrs. Qiao, "Dad, what brings you here?"
Mrs. Qiao blinked in surprise before smiling, "Son, it’s Sunday tomorrow. Remember to send some seafood to your classmate."
She continued, "Your father has received quite the selection recently."
Though Mrs. Qiao didn’t name the classmate, Qiao Ran knew it must be Lin Wu.
In their house,
Aside from Lin Wu, no other classmate enjoyed such privilege.
Not even Zhang Xianxian.
"Okay, Mom, I got it."
Mrs. Qiao nodded, "Alright then, study well. I won’t disturb you any longer."
With that, she headed downstairs.
Mu Baicheng was waiting on the ground floor of Mingzhu Building.
He was there to wait for Lin Guixiang to finish work.
However, although Mu Baicheng knew Lin Guixiang worked in the Mingzhu Building, he didn’t know the name of her company or what her job was.
After all, there were many companies within Mingzhu Building.
Lin Guixiang had just finished work and spotted him in the crowd.
She quickened her pace towards where Mu Baicheng stood.
"Baicheng," Lin Guixiang approached him, "why are you here?"
"I wanted you to see me as soon as you got off work, so I came," Mu Baicheng took her hand. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Lin Guixiang’s face lit up with a smile, "Have you been waiting long?"
Mu Baicheng shook his head, "No, I just got here."
They walked towards the parking lot while talking.
Just then,
Lin Guixiang suddenly saw a familiar figure in the parking lot.
Oh no!
It was Zhao Cuinong.
Lin Guixiang couldn’t explain her situation with Mu Baicheng, so her first instinct was to hurriedly take his hand and find a place to hide.
Mu Baicheng hadn’t even had the time to react before Lin Guixiang quickly pulled him into hiding.
Zhao Cuinong also caught sight of Lin Guixiang, but by the time she looked again, Lin Guixiang had vanished from her view.
Zhao Cuinong frowned slightly, "Strange, did I see that wrong?"
Seeing this, her assistant Xiao Huang curiously asked, "Is something wrong, Director Zhao?"
