Chapter 1144 Beside the Couch

Thinking it was an urgent matter, Song Nian did not delay. He opened the door and asked the man to come in. He said to him, "Wait a moment in the front yard. I will go and report to the master."

The visitor was an official from the Dali Temple. He said politely, "Thank you for your help."

Song Nian went to the backyard wing, knocked on the door, and said, "Sir, someone from the Dali Temple has come and said they have something important to report."

Yu Qizhe's low voice came from inside the room, "Got it."

"What's wrong?" Yu Jiao asked in a daze.

Yu Qizhe touched her face and said softly, "It's okay, go to sleep."

He raised his hand to tuck in the corner of the quilt for Yu Jiao, and waited until Yu Jiao fell asleep before he quietly put on his clothes in the dark and went out.

Song Nian saw him coming out and was about to speak, but was stopped by Yu Qizhe. He whispered, "Don't disturb the Madam."

Yu Qizhe went to the front yard, and the subordinates waiting there immediately stepped forward, "Sir, there is news about Ji Wudao."

He whispered a few words to Yu Qizhe, who then turned serious and said to Song Nian, "Prepare the car."

Not long after the carriage left Guihua Lane, a figure landed on the roof of Yu Mansion. The night was cold, with a lone moon hanging high in the sky. The entire Guihua Lane was shrouded in thick darkness.

Cheng Ying stood on the roof for a long time, and finally couldn't help but sneak into the yard.

He really wanted to see Jiaojiao at this moment. He was the one who managed to get Yu Qizhe away. It was worth it for Yu Chengying to exchange her for the news that Ji Wudao was leading a hundred thousand troops to the capital.

Cheng Ying stood outside the window of the room, and suddenly she felt as if she had finally found a place to stay after being away from home for so long.

He pushed the door open gently and walked in.

The thin moonlight could only vaguely reveal the layout and general shape of the house. A faint fragrance could be smelled in the house. Cheng Ying stood in the darkness, casting greedy eyes towards the bed, her chest filled with jealousy.

Just now, Yu Qizhe walked out of this door and got on the bed where Yu Jiao was lying.

Cheng Ying couldn't help but step forward and approach the bed.

In the dim light, Yu Jiao slept peacefully. Cheng Ying looked at her face which was somewhat strange yet familiar. Unconsciously, it overlapped with Jiaojiao's face in her previous life. A warmth that she had never had before emerged on Cheng Ying's feminine and handsome face.

After watching quietly for a moment, Cheng Ying couldn't help but reach out and gently touch her cheek.

When he first met Zhang Daoling, he had fantasized about meeting Jiaojiao again in Taiyan. He would be the first person Jiaojiao saw when she opened her eyes, and he would give her a big hug. He died in front of Jiaojiao, and she must have been terrified.

Knowing that he is still alive, Jiaojiao will definitely be very happy. She will call him senior brother, act coquettishly with him, and depend on him like before.

With him protecting her, Jiaojiao will live as freely in Taiyan as before, and she doesn't need to pay attention to Taiyan's etiquette and constraints.

But now, he didn't know how to recognize Jiaojiao...

Cheng Ying didn't believe what Zhang Daoling said, but he did have command hallucinations very early on. He was aware of his obsession and possessiveness towards Jiaojiao, and he would not allow himself any possibility of hurting Jiaojiao.

Perhaps because he was lost in thought, Cheng Ying lost control of the force with which he stroked Yu Jiao's cheek. Yu Jiao woke up in a daze. She thought it was Yu Qizhe, so she rubbed her face against his palm obediently, her voice thick with sleepiness, "You're back?"

Cheng Ying froze, her heartbeat sounding particularly loud in the silent night.

After a while, he calmly hummed.

Yu Jiao was half asleep and half awake. She didn't realize what was wrong and rolled to the side in a daze to make room for him.

Cheng Ying looked at the half-empty bed, struggled for a moment, but couldn't resist the temptation and lay down beside her. The place where he lay was still warm.

Yu Jiao rolled into his arms almost the moment he lay down, and her head found a comfortable position on his chest.

Cheng Ying stared at the top of the tent, his whole body stiff. He exhaled slowly and put his arms around Yu Jiao's waist.

But she was very clear in her mind and thought that this must be a habit Jiaojiao developed after getting married because she was held in Yu Qizhe's arms every day to sleep.

In the past, my junior sister never clung to anyone when she slept.

Yu Jiao, who was lying in Cheng Ying's arms, moved and groped from his chest to his arms, "Why don't you take off your outer clothes..." Yu Jiao realized something was wrong halfway through the sentence, and suddenly opened her eyes and woke up completely.
