The Chi Le Mountain surrounded by peaks is still winding and continuous, with lush greenery, and a reclining Buddha on a giant rock, creating a pleasant Zen atmosphere.
Yu Jiao walked beside Cheng Ying and climbed the stairs. Perhaps to accommodate her, Cheng Ying did not walk fast and always stayed on the same stone steps as Yu Jiao. Cheng Qi followed behind them with a very low presence.
Cheng Ying looked at the misty mountains and said, "The feng shui here is excellent. Someone once told me that if you use the right luck, you can turn around a life-or-death calamity."
Yu Jiao chuckled when she heard this, surprised that Cheng Ying actually believed this. She said, "Birth, aging, sickness and death are like flowers blooming and falling. It is a natural cycle and cannot be changed by human power."
Thinking of Emperor Mingzheng's pursuit of immortality, Yu Jiao's words were filled with irony, "If there is life, there is death. The only things that remain unchanged are dead things. If one could really seek immortality through the Tao, wouldn't the world be in chaos?"
Cheng Ying also laughed. He picked up the dead branches and leaves on the stone steps and sighed softly: "Yeah, I didn't believe it at first..." But when people have obsessions in their hearts, even the most unreal and ridiculous talk can become a life-saving straw.
He stayed in Fahua Temple for ten years and read all the scriptures, but he was unable to dispel his delusions.
He neither believed in this fairy tale nor believed in it, as if he was pulling a rope thrown into a dry well, hoping for salvation.
"What if human power can really turn around and transcend reincarnation?" Cheng Ying held the dead branch and looked at Yu Jiao, asking meaningfully, "If you don't believe in the power of gods and Buddhas, why are you here?"
Yu Jiao paused, she knew that Cheng Ying was just asking her why she was going to Fahua Temple in Chi Le Mountain since she didn't believe in gods and Buddhas. But she couldn't help but think of herself, a person from the future world, who had transcended reincarnation and lived in someone else's body.
Yu Jiao doesn't think this is the power of gods or ghosts. Some absurd paradoxes are just truths that have not yet been proven. Perhaps after many years of accelerated scientific development, all of this will be reasonably explained.
Retracting her thoughts, Yu Jiao replied, "Gods and Buddhas are a source of sustenance. When people are powerless to save the situation, they can place a little bit of hope in them and make a wish on a red silk cloth to save themselves." She paused for a moment and continued, "I worship gods and Buddhas not to borrow their power, but to take advantage of their kindness and to feel at ease."
Cheng Ying looked at her and smiled: "What a great blessing from the Buddha, my heart is at ease."
When his consciousness from his previous life faded away, he was filled with regret and worry. He died in such a tragic way in front of Jiaojiao, and he was always afraid that she would live in guilt and sadness for the rest of her life.
If at that time, he could hear Jiaojiao say, "Thanks to the Buddha's compassionate wish, my heart will be at ease", he would probably be able to smile in his grave and let go of his obsession.
However, fate played a role. Even hearing such words today could not shake the obsession in his heart.
Standing in the main hall, Cheng Ying looked at the statue of Buddha with compassion for all living beings, filled with resentment. He didn't know who to blame or hate. The person he had been obsessed with for half his life, exhausted all means, and spent a lot of effort to get, but now she became someone else's wife and her heart belonged to someone else.
How could he accept this? How could he not feel resentful?
Blame the gods and Buddhas for being blind, blame the tricks of fate, blame the coincidences!
If you say he was a step late, he was clearly a lifetime ahead of Yu Qizhe. If you say he was a step ahead, he was not the first person Jiaojiao saw when she came to Taiyan.
Yu Jiao stood quietly aside, seeing Cheng Ying's face dark and cold, she thought how could this solemn and quiet Buddhist temple provoke him, he really had a fickle personality.
She found a monk and whispered, "Where is Master Huijue buried? My husband once practiced under Master Huijue. I came here to burn incense in front of Master Huijue's tombstone on his behalf."
The monk glanced at Cheng Ying, and at his calm instruction, he replied, "Master Huijue is buried in the pagoda forest on the back mountain."
After Yu Jiao clasped her hands together in thanks, she said to Cheng Ying, "Father, you may want to walk around the temple. There is a twin banyan tree in the courtyard, which is also a wonder. I will go and burn incense for Master Huijue and then come back to find you."
Cheng Ying glanced at her, feeling even more miserable. The person he had never waited for in Fahua Temple was coming to pay homage to him with his fake identity today? Or was it for her husband? This really made his words "Huijue" look ridiculous.
"Let's go together." Cheng Ying said calmly.
Yu Jiao then went with him to the pagoda forest on the back mountain, where all the monks who passed away in the Fahua Temple were buried. The pagoda forest was full of seven-story pagodas. Yu Jiao found the pagoda inscription of Master Huijue, and saw the verse from the Diamond Sutra engraved on it: The Tathagata has no origin and no destination, so he is named Tathagata.
Cheng Ying seemed to notice that she was reading this petition and asked, "Do you know what it means?"
Yu Jiao shook her head.
Cheng Ying smiled faintly and explained to her the meaning of this verse in the Diamond Sutra.
Yu Jiao couldn't help being a little dazed after listening to this. The Buddha has already attained the perfect Dharmakaya, and the Dharmakaya has broken through the two illusions of time and space. It is everywhere and at all times. From the perspective of the essence of all things, time and space do not exist. Since there is no space, there is no so-called going from here to there. Without time, there is no such thing as going from the past to the future.
So the reason why she is here is because she has no origin and no destination?
Yu Jiao remained silent, lowered her head to light a stick of incense, and knelt down to offer it in respect.
After returning from Tallinn, Yu Jiao accompanied Cheng Ying to see the twin trees and the turtle pond in the temple. Standing under the twin trees, Yu Jiao looked up at the branches, thinking that she might be able to see the red silk that Lu Jin threw up that day.
Cheng Ying stood aside, and some monks watched from afar, being extremely respectful but not daring to approach.
Cheng Ying looked at Yu Jiao's slightly raised porcelain-white face, and remembered that someone had come into the meditation room to report to him that there were two other women traveling with Yu Qizhe and Lu Jin, and the four of them had already gone down the mountain.
At that time, Yu Qizhe also said that he brought a female doctor with him. If he had met Yu Jiao at that time, what would the situation be like today?
