Chapter 39 How to Marry Me

The body indenture was a troublesome matter. Yu Jiao could guess that even if she really earned enough money from her medical treatment to redeem herself, Yu Ruhai might not return the body indenture to her. If he really became a rogue, Yu Jiao would be helpless.

Yu Qizhe frowned slightly, his two thick, ink-like sword-like eyebrows squeezed out a slight wrinkle between his eyebrows, his eyes were cold, with an unusual indifference. He looked at Yu Jiao for a long time before saying, "Since you want to leave so much, if I am well again, I will do as you wish."

Yu Jiao didn't notice Yu Qizhe's displeasure, and said with a smile, "Then I will go to the back mountain to look for medicinal herbs in two days." She lowered her head and counted on her fingers, "There are still more than two months until the middle of August, which should be enough time to regulate your body. You must study hard, and when you pass the imperial examination in the future, we will go our separate ways. I will go back to live my carefree life, and you can marry Miss Chen Rou."

Yu Qizhe looked at the bright smile on Yu Jiao's face and felt even more uncomfortable. He lowered his eyes and didn't want to say anything more.

In the evening, Yu Zhizhou returned home and saw Yu Jiao was still there. His reaction was different from Yu Jinshu and the others. He was very nervous and pestered his elder brother Yu Zhixing to ask many questions about Yu Jiao. He gradually felt relieved when he knew that the old man did not drive her away because he valued her medical skills.

During dinner time, Yu Jiao appeared openly at the dining table in the main hall. Ever since she and Yu Ruhai were punished and not allowed to eat because of the medical fee issue a few days ago, Song would take some extra food from Yu Mengshan when serving him meals and bring it to Yu Jiao.

Because Yu Jinshu's classmates were invited to a banquet at noon, there were quite a few leftovers, so the dinner was quite sumptuous. Several brothers were all there, and Zhao and Yu Zhou were unusually friendly, talking and laughing non-stop. Yu Jiao was concentrating on eating and did not interrupt them.

But there was a pair of eyes always on her. When Yu Jiao looked up, she saw Yu Zhizhou's evasive gaze. She pursed her lips and narrowed her clear and sparkling almond eyes.

After dinner, the people from the third room happily drank tea with the old man and the old lady in the main hall. Yu Jiao and Song went to the kitchen to wash the pots and bowls.

After cleaning up the kitchen, Yu Zhou started to boil bath water for the people in several rooms and asked Yu Jiao to go back to her room to rest.

Yu Jiao came out of the kitchen. There was a dark shadow standing in the yard. When he saw Yu Jiao coming out, he looked around the main room and saw that no one came out, so he waved to Yu Jiao.

Yu Jiao looked carefully and finally recognized the black shadow as Yu Zhizhou in the dim light.

Yu Jiao paused and walked towards Yu Zhizhou.

Yu Zhizhou said softly, "Ms. Meng, are you... okay? It was me who gave you the wrong idea that day and hurt you. If you blame me in your heart, it's justified. It was really my recklessness."

There were only a few lonely stars in the sky, and clouds covered the crescent moon. The courtyard was extremely dark. Yu Jiao's dark eyes flickered as she looked at Yu Zhizhou, but she said nothing.

Yu Zhizhou couldn't see her expression clearly, so he continued to explain, "Ms. Meng is beautiful and charming. I thought that my fourth brother had some feelings for you. It turned out that I was wrong and made Miss Meng suffer. I felt sorry for Miss Meng's prime years, but she had to be a widow for my fifth brother in the future. That's why I said those nonsense words before, causing you to suffer so much. During these days in the academy, I have been worried about Miss Meng and blamed myself."

Yu Jiao had a slight smile on her lips. She felt no ripples in her heart after hearing Yu Zhizhou's gentle and soothing words. It was because of Yu Zhizhou's deliberate provocation that Meng Yu Jiao had seduced Yu Jinyan. Otherwise, such a young and vibrant life would not have been beaten to death at such a young age.

She said to Yu Zhizhou calmly, "In that case, why don't you go and ask the old man to marry me?"
