Chapter 640: Second Miss Yu

The sky had been sunny for several days, and suddenly it started to snow lightly in the evening. The house was warm with charcoal burning.

Yu Jiao was having dinner in Baoshou Hall. What happened in the Daytime Flower Hall could not be hidden from the sharp-eyed and sharp-eared Madam Liu. Madam Liu was also worried that Yu Jiao was frightened. After dinner, she saw that Yu Jiao looked normal and talked to her for a long time. She called Wei San, who was guarding the back door, over and said that she was worried that there were not enough people in Yu Jiao's courtyard, so she asked him to go to Yingyue Pavilion to work.

Yu Jiao naturally had no reason to refuse the gift from the old lady. She also had an impression of Wei San, who was a smart man, so she accepted him and brought him back to the yard.

When they returned to Yingyue Pavilion, the snow outside was falling heavier and heavier. The maids had already prepared hot water. Yu Jiao asked Bai Lu to take Wei San to his place while she went to take a bath and wash herself.

Perhaps because too many things happened during the day, Yu Jiao was not sleepy. After taking a bath, she sat on the couch and prepared spices. Today, she promised to give Cui Qiong and the others a box of Shouyang Princess Plum Blossom Fragrance, and she couldn't go back on her word. Yu Jiao planned to stay up all night to make it and finish it before the day after tomorrow.

After feeding the cockatoo, Jianjia sat beside Yu Jiao with her sewing basket. She was afraid that the female rabbit would catch a cold, so she picked up some scraps, stuffed them with cotton wool, and made a small quilt for the female rabbit.

Jianjia had finished sewing the quilt when she heard the sound of a gong outside. She glanced at the clepsydra, then looked up at her mistress's gentle profile under the candlelight, and said softly, "Miss, it's getting late, you should rest."

Yu Jiao was grinding rosin, and without looking up, she asked, "What time is it?"

"It's past midnight."

Yu Jiao said to her, "You should go to bed early. You don't have to stay with me outside. I will go to bed when I feel tired."

Jianjia stopped trying to persuade her. She stood up, covered the mother rabbit with the small quilt in her hand, bowed to Yu Jiao, closed the door and went to the back room.

Yu Jiao ground all the spices she was going to use into fine powder and carefully stored them away, waiting to pick fresh wintersweets to make incense pills tomorrow before she stretched herself.

The night outside the window was not very dark, perhaps because it was snowing. The ground was covered with a vast expanse of white, reflecting the subtle crystal light.

The candlestick on the low table jumped slightly. Yu Jiao picked up a pair of scissors from the sewing basket beside her and trimmed the candle wick.

She looked at the dancing warm yellow candlelight, feeling a little dazed, and thought of Yu Qizhe again. She didn't know when the two of them would be able to sit leisurely and cut the candle by the west window together on such a quiet snowy night.

The next day, the snow was still falling and the entire Liu Mansion was covered in silver.

After Yu Jiao got up, she wrote two letters, one to Chen Yu and the others, and the other to Liu Sanniang. She also packed a box of the incense pills she had made these days tightly and gave them to Li Jing, asking him to go to the post station to send them to Qingzhou.

After breakfast, Yu Jiao took Jianjia to the back garden, picked a lot of wintersweets, refined honey and mixed them with the spice powder prepared last night to make Shouyang Princess Plum Blossom Fragrance Pills, and put them in a box to dry in the shade.

After making the incense pills, Yu Jiao asked Wei San to prepare the carriage. She planned to go for a follow-up visit to Su He today.

Li Jing also wanted to go, but Yu Jiao didn't let him. He testified against Wang Min and Lin Fang in the Ministry of Justice, and dragged himself into trouble. He was supposed to be imprisoned for a period of time, but Liu Ziqi was good friends with Wei Tingzhi, so he paid some money and was not taken to jail.

However, Wang Jianzheng of Yuanma Temple seemed to still be resentful of Li Jing for selling his concubine's body for silver, which led to the destruction of his concubine's body. Two days ago, he spent money to ask the servants of Liu Mansion about Li Jing. The servants of Liu Mansion kept their mouths shut and said nothing. They turned around and came to report the news to Jianjia.

Yu Jiao didn't want to cause any more trouble, so she didn't plan to take Li Jing out recently. It just so happened that her grandmother sent Wei San to help her. Wei San was also a good driver and could take over Li Jing's job.

When Liu Yaoyu heard that Yu Jiao was going out, she chased after her and insisted on going with her, so Yu Jiao took her with her.

When they arrived at the Wu family's villa, the gatekeeper heard Jianjia introduce herself and hurriedly opened the gate and respectfully invited Yu Jiao and the others in.

When Madam Wu heard that the female doctor Yu who came to treat her family was the third daughter of Liu Ci Fu's family, she made a special trip to the other courtyard and told the servants in the courtyard that if Yu Jiao came again, she must be served carefully and respectfully.

The servants led Yu Jiao and Liu Yaoyu to Su He's room without telling anyone else.

The last time Yu Jiao came here, she felt that the servants in this courtyard did not respect Su He very much and did not treat her as a real master at all.

After entering the side room, Su He saw that it was Yu Jiao who came in, and hurriedly stood up and said with a smile, "Doctor Yu, you are here?" and invited Yu Jiao and Liu Yaoyu to sit down.

Because Madam Wu had instructed, a maid came in to serve tea without waiting for Su He's orders.

After the maid had poured the tea, Su He said to the maids in the room, "You guys go down, we don't need you to serve here anymore."

The maids looked at each other before retreating from the room.

"Doctor Yu, why aren't you wearing a veil today?" Su He was out of touch with the news and stayed in this small courtyard all day. Madam Wu had never reminded her, so she didn't know that Doctor Yu Jiao's identity had become a hot topic in the capital.

Yu Jiao smiled and said, "Everyone outside knows that I'm a female doctor, so there's no need to hide it."

Su He looked at Liu Yaoyu beside Yu Jiao and noticed that she was dressed luxuriously. She subconsciously glanced at Yu Jiao's clothes. She had seen a lot of good things in the brothels. Although Yu Jiao's clothes were plain, the materials were all top-grade Su satin.

She didn't look at him for long, and asked politely, "Who is this..."

Yu Jiao introduced, "This is my second sister."

Su He smiled gently and said to Liu Yaoyu, "Second Miss Yu, you can just call me Su He."

Liu Yaoyu glanced at Yu Jiao and guessed that it must be because she was always called Doctor Yu when she saw patients in the past, so people mistakenly thought she was the Second Miss Yu.

Yu Jiao laughed and said, "I forgot to tell you, my last name is Liu, not Yu."
