After the first month of the lunar year, Chen Yu came to Beijing. When the servant came to deliver a letter, Yu Jiao was about to go out with Wang Xueyan to check out the shops on Chang'an Street.
Chen Yu arrived much faster than Yu Jiao expected. He was very sensible and did not go directly to Yu Jiao's house. Instead, he sent someone to tell Yu Jiao the inn where he was staying.
After receiving the message, Yu Jiao was obviously much happier. Even Wang Xueyan could see it. She smiled and said, "Go and do your work first. I can go to the shop by myself."
Yahang had selected a dozen shops for Wang Xueyan. Wang Xueyan had not yet visited the locations of the shops. She originally wanted to ask Yu Jiao to go over with her to take a look and finalize the decision.
Yu Jiao smiled and said, "I'll help you choose a shop, and then I'll go to the inn. It's okay."
Wang Xueyan didn't bother to be polite anymore. The two of them went out to Chang'an Street. The people from the Yahang took them to look at the shops one by one. Two of the shops had better locations. Chang'an Street was already bustling with people, so there was no need to worry about the customer flow. One shop was facing the street entrance, and the other shop was next to a clothing and jewelry shop. The two discussed it and chose the latter shop. Wang Xueyan gave money on the spot and bought the shop.
She took the title deed and walked around the shop with a happy face. She enthusiastically discussed with Yu Jiao how to decorate the shop. She exuded happiness from the inside out.
Yu Jiao had the same idea as her. They both wanted to decorate the incense ball shop more elegantly. The shop would have two floors, and the attic could be used to make incense. At that time, they could also take the customers to the attic to make incense by themselves.
Wang Xueyan was so happy to have her first shop. She pulled Yu Jiao aside to talk for a while, then she remembered that Yu Jiao had other things to do. She said a little embarrassedly, "I was so happy that I forgot about it. You should go and do your own thing. I will decorate the shop in the next few days."
Yu Jiao smiled and said, "Okay, I'll leave first. If you have anything, just come to me."
After parting with Wang Xueyan, Yu Jiao took Jianjia and Bailu to Chunlai Inn where Chen Yu stayed.
Chen Yu lived in Room No. 1. After asking the waiter, Yu Jiao went upstairs and knocked on the door.
After a while, the door opened. The person who opened the door was Dayong, the servant who often followed Shen Yu when he was in Changkui County. When he saw Yu Jiao, he was stunned at first, then turned around and shouted happily, "Master, female doctor Yu is here!"
After shouting, he remembered to invite Yu Jiao into the house.
Shen Yu was leaning lazily on the chair. Upon hearing this, she immediately stood up and looked towards the door, holding a peeled orange in her hand.
When he saw Yu Jiao coming in, he smiled brightly, his eyes were clear, and he opened his mouth but didn't know what to say for a moment. He turned to Dayong and said, "What are you still standing there for? Go ask the waiter to bring a pot of good tea."
Hearing the sound, Dayong hurried out, not forgetting to close the door.
Yu Jiao sat down on the chair and smiled faintly, "When did you arrive in Beijing?"
Chen Yu put the orange in his hand into the fruit bowl on the table, looked at Yu Jiao, and said with a smile, "We arrived last night, but the city gate was closed, so we stayed outside the city for a night and came into the city early this morning."
Yu Jiao nodded, and Chen Yu stared at her with burning eyes. He could clearly feel that Yu Jiao seemed to have changed a lot. Her facial features had lost their immaturity and became more graceful and bright. When she was in Changkui, she was more like an unpolished jade, but now it was like the outer layer of stone had been knocked open, revealing the crystal clear jade inside.
It seemed that she was living well in the capital, and Shen Yu felt relieved.
"Zhi Zhou came here with me, but he is out now. He said he was going to look for his fifth brother Yu Qi Zhe." Chen Yu said.
Yu Jiao nodded. She hadn't heard Yu Qizhe's name for some time. Only occasionally would his face flash through her mind, as if this man had faded out of her life.
Chen Yu didn't notice Yu Jiao's gloomy expression at that moment, and continued to say, "The Spring Examination will be held in a few days, right? Zhizhou and I discussed that we want to wait until the results of his fifth brother's Spring Examination are announced before returning to Changkui. It just so happens that during this period of time, we can find a shop in the capital and start a paper business."
