The driver was Xia Ning, Junior Chancellor of the Imperial Household Department. He jumped out of the car and lifted the curtain. Cheng Ying, dressed in black, got off the carriage. He seemed a little surprised to see Yu Jiao.
Yu Jiao bowed to him and said, "Greetings, Governor."
"Going to the back hill to see rabbits again?" Cheng Ying stood with his hands behind his back. He was tall and slender. He lowered his head slightly and looked at Yu Jiao, saying something ambiguous.
Yu Jiao hurriedly shook her head, "Yu Ning came here to burn incense, and now she has to go back home."
She turned around and wanted to get on the carriage, but Cheng Ying called her again, "Stop."
Yu Jiao felt a bit overwhelmed when she heard this voice. She restrained her expression and turned around, "Do you have any other instructions, Governor?"
"Since you are here to burn incense, please come with me." Cheng Ying said.
Yu Jiao reminded him, "Master Du, Yu Ning has already offered incense."
Cheng Ying glanced at her, raised her brows slightly, and walked towards the temple gate with her hands behind her back. Yu Jiao had no choice but to follow her tactfully.
Seeing Cheng Ying kneeling on the mat with an expressionless face, clasping his hands together and worshipping the gods and Buddhas, and sizing up his cold and handsome profile, Yu Jiao felt it was extremely awkward. How could such a cruel person, who had the power of life and death, actually pray to the gods and Buddhas?
His power was already second only to one person, so what was he praying to the gods and Buddhas for? Could it be that he was trying to usurp the throne?
But in history, no eunuch has ever been able to become the emperor. Many treacherous eunuchs who have the power to cover the sky with one hand are just supporting puppets to ascend the throne and use the emperor to control the princes. If Cheng Ying had the latter intention, it is not difficult to understand why he was unwilling to support either Empress Feng or Concubine Xue.
Empress Feng has a family that holds military power, the Second Prince is old and will certainly not be manipulated, and Shen Tian is behind Xue Rong, so it's no wonder that he wants to send someone into the palace.
Yu Jiao was lost in thought when Cheng Ying suddenly opened her eyes and glanced at her calmly.
Yu Jiao quickly lowered her eyes, not daring to think about these nonsense anymore.
After Cheng Ying stood up, a nun led them to a meditation room in the backyard. There were many snow-white rabbits walking around in the yard. When they saw someone coming, they pricked up their ears and hid in the corners.
When Yu Jiao saw these rabbits, she was a little surprised. Aren’t these the rabbits raised by the girl in the back mountain? Why are they all in Lianxi Temple now?
After entering the Zen room, a gentle voice sounded, "The Supervisor is here."
Cheng Ying responded indifferently and sat down on the mat.
Yu Jiao raised her eyes and saw the nun who spoke was young, beautiful, and even more beautiful than Xue Rong. Yu Jiao was stunned and guessed that this nun was the girl who raised rabbits in the back mountain.
But how could she become a nun in Lianxi Temple?
Meishu was also a little surprised to see Yu Jiao following behind Cheng Ying, but she did not show it. She knelt on the ground, poured tea for the two of them, and said softly, "This is Madam Wushuang, right? Meishu greets Madam."
Yu Jiao realized that she had made a mistake and wanted to explain, but Cheng Ying said, "She is the third daughter of Liu Ci Fu's family."
Meishu smiled apologetically, "It turned out to be Miss Liu San. Meishu doesn't go out much, I'm really sorry."
Yu Jiao also smiled back, "It's okay, I won't disturb the conversation between Governor and Miss Meishu." She stood up and wanted to go out of the Zen room, fearing that she would hear something fatal again.
Cheng Ying glanced at her and said in an ambiguous tone, "You are quite sensible."
Yu Jiao paused slightly, but Cheng Ying didn't say anything else. Yu Jiao took it as his agreement and quickly walked out of the house.
After Yu Jiao left, Mei Shu smiled and said, "Miss Liu San looks very familiar to me. She was the one who appeared in the back mountain last time, right?"
Cheng Ying did not respond and talked about business with her.
Yu Jiao was bored and was playing with a rabbit in the yard. She squatted there for a long time until her feet became numb. She pounded her legs, looked at the sky, and couldn't help but sigh. She didn't know when she would be able to go down the mountain.
In the room, Cheng Ying finished explaining the business, drank a sip of tea, and suddenly said slowly, "How do you know Liang Wushuang when you stay in Xiaojun Meishan?"
His tone was casual, but Mei Shu was startled. Knowing that he was most averse to others prying into the people and things around him, she smiled softly and said, "Sister Miwu came to see me a few days ago and mentioned Madam Wushuang."
