Chapter 871: Ungrateful

Yu Jiao was slightly startled, "Why are you here?"

Gu Yun stood outside the carriage and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Yu Jiao was fine. Then he glanced at the purple pinch marks on Yu Jiao's fair chin. Suddenly, a fierce light flashed in his eyes and he stared at Cheng Ying vigilantly.

Ever since Yu Jiao got into trouble in Duan Ben Palace, Gu Yun specifically instructed a servant in Liu Ziqi's courtyard to keep an eye on the movements in Yingyue Pavilion and to send him a message if Yu Jiao entered the palace.

Gu Yun came from the Wucheng Military Department. When he saw the Liu family's carriage, he walked over. But as soon as he got close, he heard Yu Jiao say, "You want to take my life after getting the palm print?"

"I'll take you back to the palace." Gu Yun replied to Yu Jiao, still staring at Cheng Ying unkindly, "At this hour, Master Cheng is not in the palace helping His Majesty deal with memorials, how can he have the leisure to leave the palace?"

Cheng Ying glanced at Gu Yun, then his gaze returned to Yu Jiao's face. He seemed to understand something, and narrowed his narrow and long phoenix eyes, "Do I have to listen to Young Marquis Gu's orders no matter where I am?"

Gu Yun's expression changed slightly, and he said calmly, "Master Cheng is joking. Apart from His Majesty, who else can send Master Cheng to do something? It's just that Master Cheng is busy with official duties, so Yu Jiao won't bother Master Cheng to see you off."

Cheng Ying smiled contemptuously. He didn't even take Gu Yun seriously. "Yu Ning is my adopted daughter. With me here, it's not the turn of Young Marquis Gu to show his courtesy."

Gu Yun stood outside the carriage, frozen for a moment, a trace of embarrassment flashing across his face.

Cheng Ying smoothed the wrinkles on her sleeves and said with a hint of disdain, "My adopted daughter is not someone that anyone can covet."

These words were like a loud slap in the face to the young and energetic boy.

Gu Yun's teeth tightened slightly, and the soft flesh in his cheek tasted rusty.

Cheng Ying retracted his gaze and sneered in his heart. He was just a hot-headed young man. He couldn't even stand these two words, and yet he dared to come and snatch people from him?

He raised his almond-shaped eyes and glanced at Wei San who was standing stupidly outside the carriage, "Come and drive."

Wei San looked at Yu Jiao for help. He didn't dare to disobey Cheng Ying's words, but he still remembered who was his master.

Yu Jiao frowned, feeling annoyed by Cheng Ying's constant mention of "adopted daughter". She said coldly, "I have made it clear, and Master Cheng should have heard it clearly. Yu Jiao dares not trouble you to see me off, and I am not worthy of your high regard."

Cheng Ying raised his eyebrows, knowing that Yu Jiao had misunderstood Liang Wushuang. He didn't mind Yu Jiao being so presumptuous in front of him. He said patiently, "Come back to Chiyuan Hutong with me."

Yu Jiao raised her eyes and looked directly into Cheng Ying's eyes, her disobedience was obvious.

Cheng Ying was annoyed by her stubborn temper. Her patience was running out, and her voice was filled with a dangerous warning, "Liu Yuning, you'd better be obedient!"

"Since the seal holder likes the carriage from my Liu Mansion, I'll give it to you." Yu Jiao stood up, bent down and got out of the carriage. She had no intention of continuing the stalemate with Cheng Ying. She didn't believe that Cheng Ying could really take her life outside the palace gate!

Obedient? He really thinks he is his adoptive father. Yu Jiao said to Gu Yun with a sneer on her face, "Let's go."

Cheng Ying sat in the carriage, her face full of gloom, her eyes dark, she suppressed her anger, her voice almost squeezed out from between her teeth, "Liu Yuning, you really don't know how to appreciate my kindness!"

Gu Yun had never seen Cheng Ying so furious. Thinking of the fate of those who angered Cheng Ying, he subconsciously wanted to protect Yu Jiao behind him.
