Chapter 14 Has a Hidden Purpose
Yu Li gestured for her to calm down: "Honey, what are you thinking? I'm pregnant, he won't touch me, don't worry."
"The reason they sleep in the master bedroom is so that it will be easier for them to take care of me when I'm further along in my pregnancy. It's quite considerate."
Qi Xi clicked his tongue: "Lili, touch your own heart."
Yu Li touched it as instructed, "What's wrong?"

Yu Li's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly denied it: "What are you thinking? I just think he has a good character, that's all. We got married purely because of pregnancy, it has nothing to do with love."
Qi Xi expressed doubt.
After chatting for a while, Qi Xi finally got down to business: "The interview deadline is tomorrow, the last day. Did you close it? If not, let's just go with my old plan!"
"Not yet. I plan to take it all in one go tonight. Wait for my good news tomorrow."
Qi Xi wondered, why is it nighttime?

It was almost eleven o'clock when Qi Chenyan finished his work.
He tiptoed into the bedroom and found a light still on.
Meanwhile, his wife was already lying on her side on the soft bed, asleep with her head resting on the pillow.
He was still holding the phone in one hand, and on the other end of the phone, he was on a video call and hadn't hung up.
"Yu Li?"
Qi Chenyan called out first, but his voice was very soft, and he did not intend to wake the other person.
I was just about to take the phone out, put it in the drawer, adjust her position, and cover her with the blanket to keep her from catching a cold.
Yu Li, however, woke up first during this process.
Still a bit confused, she rubbed her eyes and yawned, "Are you done with your work?"
Qi Chenyan hummed in agreement. "Did I wake you up?"
"No, I was planning to wait for you too."
Yu Li sat up and found that her phone was still on video, but her best friend was already sprawled on the sofa, fast asleep.
She turned off the video and rubbed her face to stay awake.
Qi Chenyan watched her little movements, gently curled his lips, and sat down on the edge of the bed.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. What would you like to discuss with me?"
Yu Li sat cross-legged, casually holding a pillow, her clear almond-shaped eyes smiling as she looked at him.
"I proposed a project to the station: celebrity interviews, interviewing people with a certain degree of fame and influence from all walks of life, including the entertainment industry, finance, and sports."
"You know how important the first episode is for a new show. Whether it can gain popularity or not, whether the show is worth continuing, all depends on this episode."
Having laid the groundwork, Yu Li extended an invitation: "So I'm planning to invite you as a guest for the first episode, to do a special interview with a specific person. Is that alright?"
Before Qi Chenyan could speak, Yu Li added, "I know you've never had a private talk before, and you're always busy with work, traveling all over the world."
"You can set the interview time as long as you're willing; I'll be flexible."
As she spoke, Yu Li made a pleading gesture with her hands, "I have already made a solemn pledge to the station that I have to give up the competition for the prime-time female anchor position because of my pregnancy."
"If I can't get you to come, the project we're discussing will fall through, and I'll lose my job. Please, please."
Qi Chenyan chuckled and sighed, "I've never done any interviews, simply because they don't dare invite me."
"You set the interview time, and I'll be flexible with it."
Yu Li could hardly believe her ears, blinking twice slowly, "You really...are you willing?"
Qi Chenyan's tone was very casual: "It's just a small matter, so you've been preoccupied with this all day, is it because of this?"
"Are you hesitant to speak up because you're afraid I'll get angry, or because you're afraid I'll refuse?"
Yu Li never expected that Qi Chenyan would notice even the slightest fluctuation in her emotions.
She kept quiet, and her good upbringing prevented Qi Chenyan from asking.
Yu Li scratched her face. "I'm just afraid you'll think I have ulterior motives."
Although she did have ulterior motives, everyone looks out for themselves, and besides, he was her legal husband.
She sacrificed a career advancement opportunity for the sake of her child. Shouldn't her husband make some contribution?
"Yu Li, we are husband and wife. You can take everything I have."
Qi Chenyan said patiently, "Whatever you want to do in the future, don't overthink it. Just tell me, and I will do my best to help you."
If she had known he was so easy to talk to, she wouldn't have bothered beating around the bush or using a prenatal checkup to get him to come out. She could have just made a phone call and it would have been done.
"If you encounter any trouble, you can also tell me. Although I don't have as much money or power as you..."
Yu Li counted on her fingers and suddenly realized that she didn't seem to have any advantage over Qi Chenyan, so she lowered her voice.
Qi Chenyan smiled and said, "Everyone is a unique individual, possessing their own unique strengths."

Yu Li chuckled.
Was he joking with her to lighten the mood?
Once the interview was confirmed, Yu Li felt relieved. After talking for a while, she started to feel sleepy again, her eyelids drooping.
"You go to sleep, I'm going to wash up."
Yu Li nodded, and without further ado, crawled into the covers and fell fast asleep.
But Qi Chenyan didn't rest. Instead, he went to his study and made a phone call to his secretary.
"Send my schedule for this month to my email."
Although the secretary didn't know what the leader was going to do, she still immediately sent over the schedule.
Qi Chenyan glanced at the densely packed schedule.
Most of the activities involve speaking, so attendance is not allowed.
However, one of the scheduled activities was a family reunion dinner, which involved dining at the Qi family's old house.
Once a month was a family rule strictly enforced by Grandpa Qi, mainly to keep the family members from growing apart.
"Please make sure you're free on the day of the family dinner and contact Blue Sky TV for me. Tell them I'm available for a special talk."
The secretary responded first, then exclaimed in shock: "A special interview? Director, you're going to have a special interview with Blue Sky TV?"
Qi Chenyan hummed in agreement, offering no further explanation.

Yu Li slept well, originally thinking that Qi Chenyan had already left.
When I went downstairs, I found him having breakfast in the restaurant, with a speech in his hand.
"Good morning."
He greeted them first.
"I don't know what you like to eat, so I just made some random things. If you have any dietary restrictions, you can let me know."
Yu Li was surprised that Qi Chenyan could cook.
At a glance, the steaming hot milk, paired with a cheese and beef sandwich and a poached egg, is simple yet delicious and visually appealing.
"It smells so good! You can even cook?"
