Chapter 1000: Making a Scene
Tian Dali was lost in thought, while Qi Heng waited patiently. The idiot was practically drooling with a foolish look on his face.
"Tian Dali, the Prince of Zhenbei is dead. Are you aware of this?"
Qi Heng asked a question, which brought Tian Dali back to the present. When the topic turned to military affairs, Tian Dali immediately became serious, as if he had become a completely different person.
"Young General, I was unaware of this."
Tian Dali forced himself to stand up straight and returned the salute.
It's good that Xiao Su, the Prince of Zhenbei, who has lost all conscience, is dead; it's good news.
However, the prefectural city is about to descend into chaos again.
Tian Dali quickly thought of a problem: how would the Prince of Zhenbei's men defect after his death?
Qi Heng and the Wei family will have to make a choice; the possibility of them starting their own household is unlikely.
“Sun Baiwan is your brother, right? He is now a commander under the Prince of Zhenbei, and he has a good relationship with several of the commanders.”
Qi Heng spoke cryptically, but Tian Dali was alert and asked directly, "When do we set off?"
This time, Tian Dali had a mission: to persuade Sun Baiwan to join Qi Heng.
Sun Baiwan was a close brother of Tian Dali, with whom he had a life-or-death bond, but after returning to Tianjia Village, he lost contact with Sun Baiwan.
Sun Baiwan once sent people to Yingcheng to find him, but they were exploited by the Tian family and lost a lot of money.
Tian Dali then gave the silver to Sun Baiwan's men, telling them not to tell Sun Baiwan the truth.
Since they were brothers, Tian Dali didn't want his brother to worry about him or fret if he found out he wasn't doing well.
After retiring from the military, Tian Dali was no longer Tian Baihu, but just an ordinary person.
Only those who have been on the battlefield truly understand how terrifying it is. Tian Dali sincerely prayed for Sun Baiwan.
The situation is different now. Everyone in Yingcheng has witnessed how the Wei family behaves. They make money by gambling dens and other establishments, turning Yingcheng into a chaotic mess.
In contrast, General Qi built a shipyard to house wounded soldiers, not as a form of charity. Tian Dali found his true belonging in the shipyard.
Looking at the overall future trend, there is almost no doubt that General Qi will rise to the highest position.
Tian Dali, thinking of his brother, agreed without hesitation. He needed to go back and pack his clothes, and also inform Zhao Shi.
This trip to the prefectural city will take at least half a month for a round trip.
"Young Madam, the Tian family is here again!"
A female worker from the workshop at the entrance of the fishing village came to deliver a message. This time, the Tian family brought the village chief and the villagers along, and it seemed they were going to make a bigger scene.
"You're really brave."
Last time she left Tianjia Village, the Tian family made a scene and caused trouble. Lin Yuesha was too lazy to argue and directly called the garrison commander.
Lin Yuesha gave Tian Daguang, who was causing trouble, two whacks and locked up Tian's mother in jail. She thought she had intimidated the Tian family, but the Tian family's behavior was far more despicable than she had imagined.
Poor mountains and bad waters breed unruly people. The group of people from Tianjia Village, for reasons unknown, came together because of some promise made to them by the Tian family.
Simply scare them won't scare these unruly people; those with nothing to lose are fearless.
"Young General, Young Madam, I am truly sorry."
Tian Dali scratched his head, looking very distressed. He had been removed from the Tian family genealogy, but he still couldn't escape the shadow cast by this group of people.
"Let's go, let's go and take a look."
Qi Heng suggested that he had not yet met the Tian family.
From afar, a large group of people could be seen in front of the dock. Among them, Old Lady Tian was holding Tianwazi's hand, crying with snot and tears streaming down her face, wiping her snot on Tianwazi's body.
Tianwazi was extremely disgusted, but had nowhere to hide, so he wore a long face.
Upon seeing Tian Dali arrive, he hurriedly shook his head in alarm. Uncle San had to hide; he couldn't be seen by these people!
"Young General, Old Madam Tian has come crying again, demanding that her grandson be recognized."
Tian Wazi gets paid, and Old Lady Tian visits under the pretense of wanting her grandson, which is more cunning than the previous times.
She promised the villagers that as long as they got things done, the whole village could come to the dock to help, earning several taels of silver a month, with food and lodging provided—a much more comfortable life than farming.
When farming is hampered by years of famine and the harvest is scarce, farmers suffer greatly, tightening their belts to make ends meet and rarely consuming meat.
In the dockyard, the income is guaranteed regardless of drought or flood, there's no worry about food or drink, there's a place to stay, and people to take care of you—how wonderful!
A woman from Tianjia Village came to work as a younger brother. I heard that he gets to eat meat every meal and receives a monthly allowance for living expenses. The female workers even receive hand cream and lard ointment. They are very considerate.
Who wouldn't want to sneak into a place like this!
Old Lady Tian was afraid of the garrison commander, so she tricked the rest of Tianjia Village into following her. There's a saying that the law doesn't punish the masses.
They brought a group of people with them, and no one could do anything about them.
"Kid, how could you be so heartless? You just left like that, coming to be Tian Dali's son for a meager meal. Your mother carried you for ten months and gave birth to you. How heartbreaking!"
The villagers were gesturing and pointing at each other, and Tianwazi couldn't stand it anymore.
He grew up eating food from many different families, and he hardly ever ate a single grain of rice from the Tian family. All the chores were pushed onto him and his second aunt. Now that they've finally made it, they're causing trouble again.
Especially Uncle San, who has had such a hard life. In Tianwazi's opinion, Uncle San, Aunt Er, and he are the real family of three.
Tianwazi was very content with the status quo, and when Old Lady Tian came to make trouble, he was the most terrified.
Zhao stood in the crowd, watching coldly, just to see what kind of trouble Old Lady Tian was up to.
The Tian family doesn't get up early for nothing, and the people of Tianjia Village are even more so; they wouldn't come all this way if there wasn't something to gain.
"Zhao, you worthless slut, you seduced my Dali. You've caused a rift between us, you mother and son, you fickle woman..."
When Old Lady Tian saw Zhao, she was furious. Regardless of Tian Dali's choice, Tian Wazi was still a boy, and he must have been instigated by Zhao to distance himself from the Tian family.
"Old Mrs. Tian, stop distorting the truth. Since you have repeatedly slandered me and Zhao Shi, we have no choice but to cooperate with you by getting married."
Tian Dali thought about it and realized that his relationship with the Zhao family couldn't remain hidden forever; that wouldn't be fair to the Zhao family.
The two had already decided to face it together, so they took this opportunity to inform the Tian family.
They have no relation to the Tian family, but that doesn't mean Old Lady Tian won't use this as an excuse to cause a scene.
Let's take care of it all now that we're about to finish work.
"What did you say?"
Grandma Tian's eyes widened, and she almost fainted. Tian Daguang, who was standing to the side, glanced at her with an ambiguous look and watched the show.
Tian Dalei was dumbfounded. His wife was going to run away with Lao San?
Recently, with Zhao away from the Tian family, the Tian family has been living in dire straits.
Grandma Tian and her eldest son's wife were both lazy and didn't like to do housework. Their house was messy, and they didn't wash the pots after cooking. The next day, a foul smell would emanate from the kitchen, and flies and mosquitoes would swarm around.
The fourth son's wife went back to her parents' home, but the rest of the family had nowhere to go and spent their days being urged to leave.
It was the busy farming season, and Old Man Tian led the men of his family to work in the fields. At noon, they couldn't even get a sip of cool boiled water, which made them extremely frustrated.
Since he couldn't hit his daughter-in-law, Old Man Tian gave Old Woman Tian a beating. Now, Old Woman Tian used her injury as an excuse to refuse to work even more.
