Chapter 253 Female Doctor Yan

Chapter 253 Female Doctor Yan

Lin Yuesha thought for a moment, then took the silver. Qin Langzhong was worried that she would go back on her word and try to cheat him again by finding a written agreement.

Although Lin Yuesha really wanted to do that, she wasn't that kind of person.

"Bai Cha, go back to the manor and bring the document to Doctor Qin."

Lin Yuesha stayed at Jishetang and could only let Bai Cha run errands. Having a maid by her side made things much easier than before, and she and Doctor Qin completed their transaction.

"Yes, miss."

Bai Cha received the order and quickly went out the door, delivering the document in about fifteen minutes.

After confirming that it was the correct person, Qin Langzhong immediately burned it inside an oil lamp shade and even personally escorted Lin Yuesha out the door, making a very grand gesture.

"Sister Bai, are you still waiting here?"

Lin Yuesha felt a little embarrassed and automatically changed how she addressed him.

“I just heard from Bai Cha that you’re going to Changqing Academy this afternoon. Coincidentally, I was planning to go there too.”

Bai Youran heard that Lin Yuesha's elder brother was at Changqing Academy. She realized that she hadn't seen her elder brother Bai Dingfeng for a while, so she thought it would be better for the two of them to go together.

"That's good, but Changqing Academy is closed right now. I heard that we won't be able to receive visitors until evening."

It's only noon now, and there are still several hours until evening. The two of them can't possibly wait outside forever.

"Sister Bai, if you don't mind, please come and sit with me for a while."

Lin Yuesha invited Bai Youran, but she didn't have high hopes. Her family was of humble origins; the daughter of the prefect might not even look at her.

“Great! I’ll take Ruyi with me to familiarize myself with the place.”

Bai Youran readily agreed and suggested that the two of them go to the alley together, and invite Doctor Yan along as well.

"Oh right, I also promised to give Doctor Yan one hundred taels of silver, so I'll just send it to her."

Lin Yuesha was in a good mood when she received the money. She guessed that the owner of Jishetang must have recognized Bai Youran, the daughter of the prefect, and therefore dared not offend her, which was why his attitude towards her had changed.

In the end, she benefited from Bai Youran's influence.

The two went to see Doctor Yan together, and Lin Yuesha sincerely handed over the silver notes.

Originally, she wanted to give Dr. Yan a larger share, but seeing that Dr. Yan was not short of money, she thought she would use the silver she had on hand as working capital to open a shop first. Once her shop was online, she would give Dr. Yan some snacks to repay her for saving Da Niu'er's life.

"Cousin, let's go talk to Sister Yue Sha."

Bai Youran tugged at the hem of Doctor Yan's robe, but before she could touch her, Doctor Yan frowned and dodged away, saying sternly, "Speak properly."

"Wasn't what I said nice?"

Bai Youran was used to being met with indifference and wasn't annoyed, continuing to laugh.

Her cousin had a cold exterior, but they had known each other since childhood. How could she not know her cousin's personality? She was cold on the outside but warm on the inside, and she was the best person ever.

Three years have passed, and her cousin still hasn't gotten over the trauma. Bai Youran is secretly worried, but she has never mentioned it.

"Dr. Yan, come to my house for a visit. You can try my homemade fruit and flower tea, as well as some delicious snacks. They're the only ones of their kind in the city."

Lin Yuesha also tried her best to persuade the doctor to build a good relationship with her so that her family would have an easier time seeing a doctor in the future.

She had offended the people at Jishetang, and besides, she really couldn't trust those scoundrels. In comparison, the taciturn Doctor Yan was much more reliable.

"What kind of snack is this, unique to the entire city?"

Bai Youran was more interested in food. As soon as she finished asking, she noticed that Doctor Yan was also listening intently, her ears perked up.

Others might not know, but Bai Youran did; her cousin had no other hobbies but a sweet tooth.

After leaving Kyoto, I couldn't find many of the local delicacies and pastries anymore, and I ended up starving myself from a fat person to a skinny one.

"I won't tell you that; I'll keep you in suspense for now."

Lin Yuesha was acting mysteriously, but in reality, she wasn't sure herself.

Before opening the shop, she needed to do some research, but she didn't have the time or the opportunity. She had never seen or tasted any of the white tea or Longjing tea she was talking about.

However, the two were just maids after all, and perhaps they didn't have that kind of knowledge.

Bai Youran is the daughter of the prefect, while Doctor Yan comes from the capital. Perhaps the two have met before.

"Let's go then."

Dr. Yan washed her hands and said calmly.

Lin Yuesha: "..."

She agreed so easily? Was it because of her pride, or...?

"It would be perfect if we could take a break and have some fruit and flower tea."

Bai Youran spoke of fruits, saying that the south was rich in produce, while the north was much poorer.

In previous years, fruit was also transported from the south, but because of the long distance, some of the fruit picked was only half-ripe and was still mostly spoiled by the time it reached the north.

Therefore, the fruit has always been expensive and difficult to buy.

"Kyoto has dried fruit that can be used to brew fruit and flower tea, and the taste is simply amazing."

However, dried fruit also needs to be air-dried and stored, otherwise it will get moldy in the north because of the rainy and humid climate in the south.

Lin Yuesha nodded, agreeing that it made perfect sense; these days, it's so hard to find fresh fruit.

Durian, bananas, dragon fruit—I've never even seen those before.

In the north, the only common fruits are apples and pears, but perhaps due to the variety, most of them are sour and astringent.

"Apples are easy to store and inexpensive."

On the way, Dr. Yan unconsciously joined in, which pleased Bai Youran, who was glad that her cousin was willing to communicate with the two of them.

She gave Lin Yuesha a wink, and Lin Yuesha understood immediately. The three of them then started chatting about apples.

"Next to my clinic, there is a family whose father is in the fruit business."

When the old man was mentioned, Dr. Yan's tone became a little lighter.

That family was very kind; they thought she was an orphan and often had the old man bring her food.

After arriving in the north, Dr. Yan suffered from acclimatization problems and lost her appetite for a period of time, suffering from severe anorexia. She relied entirely on her father's family for care.

Normally, she would occasionally come to deliver something, and her father's family would feel quite embarrassed.

The family wouldn't accept the money.

Doctor Yan smiled bitterly. After leaving the capital, all she had left was money.

"If you're in the fruit business, it must be doing quite well."

Lin Yuesha still loves eating fruit, but unfortunately, she missed the season. The fruit she can buy now is from last autumn.

"Business is bad. My father still has over a thousand catties of fruit that he hasn't sold yet."

Mentioning this, Dr. Yan also became worried. She even considered finding someone to buy all the apples, hoping that her father's family would stop sighing and complaining.

However, my father is a meticulous person. When others ask him to do business, he worries that they might buy too much and not be able to sell it or finish it.

"How does that fruit taste?"

Lin Yuesha stroked her chin, an idea forming in her mind. If the apples were of good quality, she could help her father's family get rid of this batch of stock and make the apples more valuable.
