Chapter 23 A Light Kiss: "Why are you crying?"

Chapter 23 A Light Kiss: "Why are you crying?"

Jiang Zhiyao lightly kissed Yan Zhenxi's eye veil, but perhaps because she was too nervous, she did not notice the trembling of her eyelashes under the veil.

Just as she was about to leave, she heard Yan Zhenxi's somewhat hoarse voice: "Madam."

Jiang Zhiyao looked up in a panic, wanting to explain, but found that she couldn't utter a single word.

She closed her eyes in despair, awaiting Yan Zhenxi's questioning.

But what she felt was Yan Zhenxi's calloused hand stroking her eyes, bringing away her tears.

"Why are you crying?" was asked in an incredibly gentle tone.

Before she could speak, tears suddenly welled up in her eyes. Jiang Zhiyao choked out, "I don't know either. Maybe it's because I wasn't in a good mood tonight."

She tried hard to stop her tears, but found she couldn't. It was all because Yan Zhenxi was too gentle, Jiang Zhiyao thought with a rare hint of resentment.

He should have pushed me away; otherwise, I might not be losing my composure in front of him now.

Noticing that Jiang Zhiyao was crying more and more, Yan Zhenxi sat up, cupped her face in his hands, and wiped away her tears with his thumb.

"Did someone bully you? Don't cry, don't cry." Her words were filled with unbearable heartache.

"No, no," Jiang Zhiyao sobbed uncontrollably.

After Yan Zhenxi and Jiang Zhiyao calmed down a bit, Yan Zhenxi said in a slightly dry voice, "Then let's not cry anymore, okay?"

Yan Zhenxi didn't ask any further questions, but Jiang Zhiyao felt inexplicably suffocated, and she said haltingly, "You're too good to me, why are you so good to me?"

"How have I been good to you?" Yan Zhenxi asked softly.

“You give me so much: beautiful clothes and jewelry, people to cook my favorite dishes, play with me, let me do what I like, let me stay at home all the time without going to banquets, and let me do whatever I want.”

It makes me constantly have inappropriate thoughts about you.

Jiang Zhiyao's words were somewhat incoherent and rambling, but Yan Zhenxi listened patiently and said gently, "Isn't this what I should do? Aren't I your husband?"

"But, but we're not really husband and wife," Jiang Zhiyao finally said.

"I'm sorry." Yan Zhenxi suddenly apologized. Jiang Zhiyao was a little stunned, stopped sobbing, and looked at Yan Zhenxi with teary eyes.

"Madam, can I take back what I said now?" Looking at Jiang Zhiyao's tearful eyes, Yan Zhenxi felt a pang of sadness in his heart and asked in an even gentler voice.

"What did you say?" Jiang Zhiyao asked, puzzled.

"I take back everything I said at our wedding." Yan Zhenxi cupped Jiang Zhiyao's face and leaned closer. "I regret it. Let's be a real couple, okay?"

Before Jiang Zhiyao could answer, Yan Zhenxi suddenly leaned in and kissed her.

Jiang Zhiyao's eyes widened slowly, and before she could think about anything, her thoughts were completely taken away.

Yan Zhenxi's hand gripped the back of Jiang Zhiyao's head. The kiss was intense and fierce, as if Yan Zhenxi had torn away a corner of his disguise, revealing a somewhat domineering side.

But for some reason, it made Jiang Zhiyao feel at ease, leaving her no energy to think about anything else. She closed her eyes and tried her best to endure Yan Zhenxi's movements.

Yan Zhenxi lingered on Jiang Zhiyao's lips for a while, and before Jiang Zhiyao could resist, he pried open her teeth and, as if he had no teacher, went straight in.

When their tongues touched, Yan Zhenxi paused for a second before passionately entwining with Jiang Zhiyao, stealing all her breath. Yan Zhenxi's other hand gripped Jiang Zhiyao's waist to keep her body from going limp.

After an unknown amount of time, Yan Zhenxi finally stopped. The two separated, slightly out of breath. Jiang Zhiyao's eyes were glazed over, her mind blank, and she didn't even notice the silver thread between their lips.

At this moment, some tears welled up in Jiang Zhiyao's eyes, but they were completely different from the tears she had shed earlier when she was heartbroken.

After Yan Zhenxi stepped back for a while and waited for Jiang Zhiyao to calm down a bit, he leaned over again and gently kissed her.

Starting with his slightly red and swollen eyes, he slowly moved downwards. Unlike the fierce storm just now, his movements were now gentle and soothing.

Jiang Zhiyao felt a little itchy and blinked a few times. Yan Zhenxi chuckled, let go of her eyes, kissed her cheek and the tip of her small, red nose, and then kissed her lovely lips.

After a few gentle sucks, it slowly lingered between Jiang Zhiyao's lips and teeth, as if trying to dry the cotton that had just regained some moisture.

After an unknown amount of time, Yan Zhenxi finally stepped back, and Jiang Zhiyao's lips were now exceptionally moist.

"Let's be a real couple, okay?" Yan Zhenxi asked again, repeating the words he had spoken before the kiss.

Jiang Zhiyao blushed and remained silent for a moment. Yan Zhenxi smiled and said, "You can't refuse now, Madam, we've already kissed."

"So, what you said before was just what I was supposed to do," Yan Zhenxi said softly. "Not only that, you can make me do whatever you want, or you can do whatever you want to me."

So don't steal a kiss while he's asleep, and don't secretly shed tears where he can't see you.

My heart is breaking.

"A-Yao," Yan Zhenxi said, using the name she had already decided on, "How about I call you A-Yao from now on? I want to be closer to you."

"Okay," Jiang Zhiyao obediently replied.

After hesitating for a moment, Jiang Zhiyao said softly, "Zhenxi."

Yan Zhenxi was stunned for a moment after hearing this, then smiled and hugged Jiang Zhiyao: "Ayao, whatever you call me sounds nice."

"Is Ayao still unhappy?" Yan Zhenxi asked gently, looking down.

Jiang Zhiyao didn't speak, and Yan Zhenxi didn't urge her. He held Jiang Zhiyao in his arms and waited quietly for her answer.

"I missed the moon tonight," Jiang Zhiyao said sullenly, but without the sadness she had shown before. Instead, she felt a strange urge to be comforted, something she had never experienced before. It was such a small thing, but perhaps because being in Yan Zhenxi's arms made her want to confide in him, Jiang Zhiyao said it anyway.

"Is the moon in the window gone?" Yan Zhenxi asked.

"Mmm." Jiang Zhiyao's tone still inevitably carried a hint of grievance.

"Bad moon," Yan Zhenxi said childishly, "Why is it moving so fast?"

"Zhenxi, take Ayao out to see." After saying that, he half-carried Jiang Zhiyao off the bed and then steadily carried her out of the room.

Jiang Zhiyao should have gotten down from his arms, but she didn't speak, her eyes lowered, waiting for Yan Zhenxi's gentle coaxing.

Although she knew that Yan Zhenxi was blind, Jiang Zhiyao, who was being held in the air, was not nervous at all. On the contrary, she felt a strange sense of peace, knowing that he would not let her fall.

Yan Zhenxi draped an outer garment over Jiang Zhiyao's shoulders and sat down on a stone bench in the courtyard.

The soft moonlight poured into the courtyard without any obstruction, and Jiang Zhiyao looked up and saw the incredibly bright moon.

"Can you see the moon now, Yao?" Yan Zhenxi asked softly.

"Yes, the moon is so beautiful."

These words were spoken by Jiang Zhiyao to Yan Zhenxi. Knowing that Yan Zhenxi was blind, Jiang Zhiyao always showed a rare boldness when facing him.

But she didn't know that Yan Zhenxi could see her clearly through the thin veil, and for the first time, he saw the brightness and adoration in her eyes as well.

Yan Zhenxi suddenly realized how she had missed those precious moments without noticing them before.

He held Jiang Zhiyao tightly in his arms.

-

When Jiang Zhiyao woke up the next morning, she sat alone on the bed, covering her head, unwilling to recall what she had done the night before.

First, she was caught stealing a kiss from Yan Zhenxi, then she cried in front of him, and then she even asked him to carry her out to see the moon?!

Jiang Zhiyao was on the verge of tears. She picked up the rag doll next to her and said to it, "Why didn't you stop me last night?"

After saying that, he pinched its head in frustration.

Jiang Zhiyao was filled with shame and indignation. She wondered if Yan Zhenxi felt he was being too unreasonable.

But recalling Yan Zhenxi's gentleness last night, Jiang Zhiyao felt that last night wasn't actually that bad.

After Jiang Zhiyao finally accepted the facts of last night and calmed down, Yan Zhenxi, as if he knew, pushed open the door and came in.

He was still holding breakfast in his hand. When Jiang Zhiyao saw this, she was about to get out of bed to help him, but by the time Jiang Zhiyao got to Yan Zhenxi, Yan Zhenxi had already put the breakfast on the small table next to him.

"Ayao's awake?" Yan Zhenxi noticed the movement and said to Jiang Zhiyao, "I brought you breakfast, you can eat it in the room."

"Mmm." Jiang Zhiyao's voice was a little muffled, and she didn't dare to look up at him.

Yan Zhenxi hugged Jiang Zhiyao and kissed her on the forehead with a natural gesture, then smiled and said, "Go wash up."

"Hmm." Jiang Zhiyao's mind suddenly became hazy, and she stiffly walked to the side to start washing up.

While brushing her teeth, Jiang Zhiyao recalled the scene of Yan Zhenxi hugging and kissing her last night. The more she thought about it, the hotter her face became.

She picked up a towel from the side, covered her face to try to cool down, and let out a small sound of annoyance.

After washing up, Jiang Zhiyao began to eat, while Yan Zhenxi sat quietly to the side, looking no different from usual.

Jiang Zhiyao began to despise herself in her heart, but it was nothing, she thought, she should just keep a calm mind.

After finishing her meal, Jiang Zhiyao hesitated before speaking, "I'm sorry, my husband, I disturbed you last night."

In Jiang Zhiyao's opinion, she was really being unreasonable last night, something she wouldn't normally do.

"Ah Yao." Yan Zhenxi's voice was gentle, but with a hint of grievance, "You didn't call me that last night."

"Ah." Jiang Zhiyao looked up at him, her ears turning red as she recalled something. "...Zhenxi."

"Yes, Yao."

For no apparent reason, Jiang Zhiyao found that calling her by her name made her feel more intimate and affectionate than using a formal title.

"Has Ayao finished eating?" Before Jiang Zhiyao could react, Yan Zhenxi asked immediately.

"Okay," Jiang Zhiyao answered truthfully, completely forgetting what she originally wanted to ask.

Yan Zhenxi chuckled and walked around the table to Jiang Zhiyao, then leaned down and kissed her.

Perhaps because of her eyes, Yan Zhenxi's lips first landed on her eyes, and then slowly moved down, making Jiang Zhiyao feel a ticklish sensation.

Finally, he kissed Jiang Zhiyao's lips.

After a while of tender entanglement, Yan Zhenxi released her and looked at Jiang Zhiyao, whose cheeks were flushed and whose eyelashes trembled slightly. He said with a little pant, "Last night, Ayao tasted salty, but this morning she tasted like millet porridge, sweet."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Zhiyao was practically fuming. How could they say that...?

“Ayao will never bother me. If I had really fallen asleep last night, that would have made me sad, because I would have missed Ayao last night.” Yan Zhenxi answered her earlier question seriously. “If Ayao still feels that she has bothered me, then give me another kiss.”
