48. Chapter 48: Children are difficult to raise

"Mom...don't cry." Gu Juan moved out from behind Wen Qi, "I don't blame you, it's just that I didn't do well enough."

Mother Gu stopped crying abruptly. She looked up at Gu Juan with a sad face and choked up, "Listen to mom's explanation..."

"No need to explain." Gu Juan smiled, "It's over. When a person dies, it's like a light goes out. It doesn't matter anymore."

Mother Gu's tears welled up again.

Father Gu squatted down and hugged her, whispering: "Whether you want to hear it or not, we have to make it clear. Your mother is pregnant, and we plan to accept his arrival, but we definitely don't mean to give up on you because of this."

Gu Juan moved again, her voice strangely calm, "Gu Juan can no longer be relied upon. We can only rely on this little one for our retirement. I hope this little one can be successful." She walked out from behind Wen Qi and looked straight at her parents, "How should I understand this sentence?"

Father Gu opened his mouth but no words came out.

"I've worked very hard." Gu Juan said calmly, "I get up at five in the morning to memorize words and listen to listening comprehension. I wash up, eat and go to school at six. Apart from going to the bathroom during breaks, I'm always studying. When I get home at night, I have to do an extra set of papers in addition to homework. I can't go to bed until twelve at the earliest. I never accept invitations from classmates during holidays. I use all my time to study."

"Dad, Mom, I really tried my best." Gu Juan's eyes were red. "But what can I do? I just can't learn. I study hard, but I still can't meet your expectations. What can I do? Every day, every day, I am anxious and can't sleep or eat. I start to lose concentration in class. I can miss several knowledge points if I lose focus."

"My condition was getting worse and worse. Until that day, I couldn't hold on any longer, and I wanted to talk to you guys... I started school a year earlier than my classmates, and I was one year younger than them. I wondered if I could repeat a year to relax and not be so tired."

Gu Juan took a deep breath and roared, "What's the result? I heard you say outside the door that you were going to give up on me! You were going to pin your hopes on an embryo! What am I then? What was all my hard work and efforts for all these years for! You're saying now that you don't mean that? Do you think I'm a fool? "

Gu Juan was so emotionally agitated that she was about to lose her mind.

Wen Qi raised his hand and placed a rune on Gu Juan's head. The latter suddenly froze and fell to the ground like a piece of wood.

"Calm down first and listen to what your parents have to say."

Mother Gu's eyes were swollen from crying, and she was out of breath and couldn't speak. She could only shake her head and look at Gu Juan with sadness in her eyes.

Father Gu took a deep breath and said in a hoarse voice, "We didn't know you were so tired, and we're sorry for saying that. We've always seen your efforts, but... maybe our expectations were too high. We just wanted you to be better..." Father Gu couldn't continue. It was too late to say anything now. Tears seeped from the corners of his eyes. "Son, it's mom and dad who are sorry for you. But you have to believe that we never thought of giving up on you. Mom and dad love you."

The blood color in Gu Juan's eyes slowly faded, and even the color of her soul began to fade, which was a sign of the disappearance of her obsession.

All she wanted was just the word "love".

Wen Qi lifted the talisman paper and let her say her final goodbyes to her parents.

Gu Juan stood up. Her originally solid soul had turned translucent. She just looked at her parents quietly, with relief and liberation in her eyes. She only said one sentence before she disappeared: "Be nice to him."

"Juanjuan!" Gu's mother cried out sadly towards the place where Gu Juan disappeared.

Father Gu also looked at Wen Qi nervously, "Where is Gu Juan?"

Wen Qi pulled open the curtains, stood at the junction of light and darkness and said, "My obsession has been eliminated. I am reporting to the underworld."

Hearing this, both Father and Mother Gu showed dejected and confused looks.

Wen Qi walked towards the door and reminded: "Don't let the baby in your belly become the second Gu Juan."

When I came out of Gu's house, it was just past nine o'clock.

Wen Qi wanted to call Feng Ce, but Feng Ce was still on the plane at that time, so she had no choice but to call Fan Xiaoling.

"Yeah." Wen Qi said, "She left without me seeing her off. It seemed like she didn't want to stay even a minute longer." At this point, she tutted her tongue and said dissatisfiedly, "Children nowadays are so rude. I helped her so much, but she didn't even say thank you verbally."

Fan Xiaoling was very sensitive to her emotions, and before she could ask, she heard her say, "I don't want to have children in the future."

Fan Xiaoling: “Ah?”

Wen Qi continued, "I feel like I can't raise a child well. Raising a child requires not only attention to food, clothing, shelter and transportation, but also attention to his mental health. Just thinking about it makes me feel so troublesome." Wen Qi frowned, "I don't like trouble."

Fan Xiaoling took two seconds to digest the thought before saying, "Do you want to discuss this with President Feng?"

Wen Qi thought about it and said seriously: "You are right. It is useless to tell you. You should take good care of yourself. I will keep the courseware for you in the next few days. Don't worry."

Fan Xiaoling responded and warned: "If Mr. Feng disagrees, don't be angry. Speak nicely and don't quarrel."

Wen Qi was surprised and said, "Why should I quarrel with him over something that doesn't exist? Don't worry about me. I'm hanging up."

Fan Xiaoling: ...Okay, the call was hung up again.

After leaving the community, Wen Qi took a special look at the security room. It was probably a shift change. The big brother from before was not there, and he was replaced by a middle-aged uncle, who was also tall and strong. The residents of this community must feel very safe.

Wen Qi didn't take a taxi, but walked along the road. His mind was wandering and he seemed to be thinking a lot, but when he came out of that state, he looked back and realized that it was all just whining.

Wen Qi admitted that Gu Juan’s incident did have an impact on her and made her a little child-phobic.

Sighing, Wen Qi hailed a car to return to school. However, just a few minutes after getting in the car, his cell phone rang. He took it out and saw that it was Han Zhen, whom he had never contacted before.

Wen Qi answered, "What's up?"

Han Zhen choked.

Wen Qi: "I'll hang up if nothing else."

Han Zhen hurriedly said, "Something's up!" He took a deep breath and said in a very serious tone, "I would like to invite you to help with the case in the name of the Tianshi Association."

Wen Qi said in a cold tone: "No." You want her to work for nothing? Dream on!

Han Zhen added: "There is a bonus!"

Wen Qi's eyebrows relaxed slightly, and he asked lazily, "How much is the prize?"

Han Zhenxin was stunned, "Five hundred thousand."

"So little." Wen Qi was not satisfied. "Is your Tianshi Association so poor?"

"Five hundred thousand is already a lot, it's almost as much as my annual salary!" Han Zhen gritted his teeth and said, "If my master hadn't been unable to come over for something and said that only you could break the ghost array, I wouldn't have come to you. If you don't want to come..."

"I answered it." Wen Qi interrupted him, "But I have classes in the afternoon. I'll contact you in the evening."
